    My favourite Disney resort

I'm late in writing this review but timing does not change my opinion of this resort. I've stayed at all the value level resorts and almost all the moderate level ones. French Quarter is hands down my favourite. I had stayed there once before about 10 years ago but this time was so different. I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere and theme. The grounds are so beautiful to stroll around and so many unique things to see. Even the furthest rooms are not at all far from the main lobby or transportation. The food court is a little bit on the small side but never felt that busy. They have all the usual food options as well as some unique ones. Be sure to try the Beignets.....YUM! Unfortunately we have yet to meet any special CM's in the food court but there are some really wonderful ones at the front desk and out at the pool. We usually decline housekeeping but I met one of them in the corridor one morning and she was lovely. We chatted and she commented on us not having her in and was there anything she could get for us. Rooms are nicely updated and have the most comfy beds. I actually want that bed at home. I like that they have changed the bathrooms to have the wall mounted dispensers for shampoo etc. The H2O products that they use are nice too...no need to bring any shampoo/conditioner/shower gel from home. I wasn't sure how I felt about not having carpet in the room. Turned out that it was ok but they need to be a little more careful with sweeping/dusting the floors and getting under the beds and into the corners. Pool area is small but nice. I'm not a sun lover so the way the pool is constructed it has a couple of spots that are shaded which in the strong Florida sun is a great idea. There are lots of umbrellas around the pool deck and some very large trees as well. If possible, many of my future stays will be at this resort. The only problem is that the prices have gotten out of hand. It's a really sad situation that Disney is pricing out a lot of people.....people that have been loyal repeat guests. Even the value level resorts are way over priced now.

We've been going to Disney each year for about 12 years now. This is the first time that my husband and I went by ourselves without the kids. We stayed at French Quarter as our family is too big to stay there otherwise. We LOVED it. Unlike most of the resorts at Disney, it wasn't too spread out. Our room was by the riverside (great view) and was within a 2 minute walk to the lobby, pool, and dining area. Our room was lovely. Well decorated with the typical Disney touches. Comfortable beds and clean. The resort itself was quiet, which was what we were looking for, and was beautifully taken care of. The trails were gorgeous, and it was nice to be within walking distance of Port Orleans Riverside. The lobby was smaller than most resorts, but that was fine. The service was still top notch and the staff friendly. The shop was wonderful - even carried chicory coffee and beignet mix for sale! The shop had some high end merchandise, some of the DTech and the Dooney and Bourke bags, along with the t-shirts and the daily needs such as toothbrushes, and the like. The dining area was clean and was not overcrowded, and the food was wonderful. I plan on reviewing that separately. Transportation was easy with the buses right by the lobby and the boat out back. Overall it was a wonderful stay. We would stay here again.

Just returned from a stay at the French Quarter and I was very pleased with the hotel. Everything was clean and well cared for. The beignets were delicious and the transportation by bus and boat made all our travel hassle free. Would definitely recommend.

We have just returned home yesterday having spent 3 weeks in Orlando, the first 9 nights being at Cabana Bay and then the last 12 nights here at POFQ. We were travelling as a party of 6 and so we had two rooms. My husband phoned and spoke with the hotel a few days prior to our arrival to request interconnecting rooms. We arrived at around midday and were delighted to find that not only had our request for interconnecting rooms been accommodated but both of our rooms were also ready. The lady that checked us in was so welcoming and took the time to explain everything to us especially around how the dining plan worked. The children were also given coloured beads to put around their neck and coins to throw in the wishing well which they loved! We had two rooms on the 2nd floor of Block 1. We had paid extra for a "Garden View" however if we were to return again, I would just take a standard view room as the motel style layout means that once you are in your room, you can't really see the view anyway and so it felt like we had paid extra for nothing really. POFQ is a truly magical resort and whilst we enjoyed our time at Universal, as soon as we arrived at Disney the magic truly began. The resort is very small and so nothing is very far away. The communal areas were always immaculately clean and all of the staff without exception were absolutely lovely. There is only one bus stop and the buses were very frequent, we seldom waited more than 10 minutes. I also downloaded the lyft app on my phone which we used a few times when we had dinner reservations at other hotels as it would have been too much hassle to take 2 buses. We never paid more than $15 to get anywhere on site in a Lyft XL. We ate breakfast each morning in the food court and also had a couple of other meals there and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. On one evening, we were so exhausted that we got one of their family style take aways which was great value and included a huge pizza, salad and 6 large breadsticks all for just 2 x quick service credits but it would easily feed 4 ( in fact all of the portions for everything were huge!) The pool was a little smaller than I imagined it would be ( very clever camera angle used for the online photos!) however nonetheless we really enjoyed it. With 3 small children, the presence of several very observant lifeguards was a definite bonus. A couple of small observations: 1) it would be useful if one of the coke freestyle machines could be installed by the pool to be able to refill your drinks without having to dry off and get dressed to go into the food court 2) The splash zone for little ones is lovely however the maximum height restriction is 120cm which seems very low. My not especially tall 5 year old was only just small enough and his 2 sisters ( 8 and 9) were not allowed to play with him in there when frankly they would have been doing no harm whatsoever. It seems very harsh that you could turn up with a 5 or 6 year old who could very easily be too tall to play in a children's area which would be very disappointing to them as it looks very enticing to little ones. We were offered $10 per night if we opted out of housekeeping however we declined, thinking that it would be nice to have housekeeping. If I had my time again, I would definitely opt out as between the 2 rooms it would have been $220 and in reality, the housekeeping was the only part of our stay that I wasn't impressed with. The maids only ever seemed to do the bare minimum, it never seemed that they had actually cleaned anything . Our hair conditioner, coffee, milk and cups were constantly not refilled which was disappointing given that they were only coming in to pull the beds over, replace the towels and re-stock coffee etc. It's only that we had 2 rooms that we were able to pinch things from one another ( for example on a couple of mornings my Mum had 7 cups in her room, we had none! )..We did complain at front desk and that day a Housekeeping supervisor came to check the room however the following day, no milk again!!! It is also very annoying when you get in the shower, wash your hair and then there's no conditioner, surely they should have a checklist of what needs replenishing every day. The boat to Disney Springs was such a massive bonus to staying here and like the buses, the boats were very reliable as well. It was just fabulous to be able to hop onto the boat to go for dinner in the evening. The shop in the hotel is large and stocks a good variety ( at hugely inflated disney prices!!) and it's open until 11pm. My kids also enjoyed the arcade which was surprisingly reasonably priced! I have never stayed at any other resort however even when visiting some of the posher hotels for dinner, we were still very pleased to return to the serenity of POFQ. We would love to be able to return and would highly recommend this lovely resort, just opt out of housekeeping! Oh and one other thing. The beds here are very very high. The hotel does provide bed guards if you ask for them - we would never normally use them for our 5 year old however the height of the bed and the hard floor would have been a bit of a disaster if he had fallen out!

It has been almost 20 years since my last visit but Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter never disappoints! It has since been renovated but it still maintains what we loved most about it then! The ambiance & size! 'Though She Be But Little She Is Fierce' aptly describes this gem in the sprawl of 30,000 acres that is WDW! The lovely riverside trails and initimate magnolia or tree lined streets make for a calm walk to or from the pool, boat dock, bus stop, or main dining / hotel areas. Despite it always seemingly full of guests, the staff and guests all seem to be happier here than anywhere else on WDW?! Maybe its the delicious beignets, or the ever helpful staff, but its a truly relaxing, unhurried place to stay. That said our room in bldg 7 was comfortable and we loved our stay and cannot wait to return! Our only room for improvement of note is the pool. We enjoyed it and the kids activities, but my daughter and a few of her new friends made while there agreed the slide could be better.
