Entertainment

The Lincoln Center complex is the epicenter of New York's arts scene, home to cultural institutions like the Metropolitan Opera, The Juilliard School, New York City Ballet, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Jazz at Lincoln Center, among many others.

For a night out, head to the magnificent, 3,800-seat Opera house. Whether you're seeing a classic like Carmen or a new work, a night at the Met is magic. The lobby's Chagall paintings and crystal chandeliers are dazzling. Some people dress up, while others are casual.

Ticket prices vary, but can be more than US$300. If you're on a budget, rush orchestra tickets are more affordable if you get them at the Met box office two hours beforehand. Standing-room tickets are also sold at the box office the day of a performance. If your feet start to hurt, take the edge off with a glass of bubbly during the intermission.
