THE CRANE IS JUST NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

I am writing this review today to tell you about my experience with The Crane Hotel for my Birthday Celebration stay. But first, Let me ask. What makes a good hotel? Is it the structure ? Is it the accommodation? Is it hospitality? or is it the customer service? Cause let me tell you, The Crane has the structure, they have the accommodation but the HOSPITALITY and CUSTOMER SERVICE IS VERY VERY POOR. Over a period of time all features fade. On March 8th, 2024, i contacted The Crane Resort to book two night staycation for my birthday. Upon booking, the reservation agent stated that i will have to secure the room with one night deposit which by the way, suppose to be" One Bedroom Suite w Plunge Pool " for $749.30BDS per night. The agent stated , UPON ARRIVAL i will have to make the remaining balance of the entire stay, I will also be treated with complimentary due to celebration of Birthday . My check in date and time was confirmed March 15th, 2024 4pm. On arrival, I checked in with Front Desk Agent who confirmed my name with ID etc. The Agent asked for my CC to verify it's the same information that is on file. Then i was asked to signed a CC authorization form, giving them permission to deduct $50 BDS per person per night for "incidentals" that may occur during my stay. Which is basically, any additional services that was not included in the package. So that total came up to $200 because it was my partner and I. Now hear this, when i booked this stay, the reservation agent failed to mention anything additional. So i was like no I'm not signing that because i wasn't informed upon booking about anything additional. Shamika the Front Desk Agent, made it clear to me, if i do not sign the authorization form, I will not be able to get the keys to the room. At this point, I had already paid $1498.60. I had to sign this form under duress so that I could get the keys to the room. which by the way was not One Bedroom Suite w/Plunge Pool Ocean View. I got bottom floor with garden view. Hear this, on the form it stated payments for the incidentals will be taken the night before departure or anything additional that exceeds $200.00 will be taken on departure. Now i don't know if i was treated differently because i was a local trying to have a peaceful weekend, but Shamika the Front Desk Agent ran my card for $200 for incidentals that HADNT OCCURED. All of this at check in by the way. When I asked for manager, this lady Crystal came and what she said, its our policy, you have to sign or yes i wouldn't been able to get the keys. Even though i was not notified of "The Policy" when i booked the stay with the reservations agent. So i had already signed based on what agent Shamika said. Now i asked, why is it showing the money been taken from my account?, She said, the $200 is on hold. Now usually, i understand the CC information being placed on file should any 'incidentals' had occurred on the day of departure the payment will be taken. They took $200 ON ARRIVAL for something that has not occurred. At this point, i wasn't getting my money back and they told me to wait on the outside for a Bell Boy. Now when i went outside everyone was just all over the place and chatting up amongst themselves. I asked can i get some assistance, when gentleman stated " dat easy" while getting into a cart and drove off shouting to his colleague " sort out that dey for me boss" ,then the guy was actually busy with other bags. So no i didn't get a bell boy, what i got was directions to my room. When i arrive to the room, very disappointing, i didn't get what i paid for. Around 9:30, the Wi-Fi stopped working, the oven was a challenge to operate, NO ONE CHECKED IN TO SEE IF I WAS COMFORTABLE AT THIS POINT. I called front desk to numerous times to get assistance but i was pretty sure they could see the room that was calling and no one answered. The technician who they sent finally to show me how the oven works, was genuinely concerned about how i was treated at this point. After he left, i called Front Desk and as per usual no one answered, I had to walk out to Front Desk to find three agents gossiping amongst them with the Manager, who stated the phone didn't ring. HAVING TO RELIVE THIS OVER BY TYPING IS REALLY FRUSTRATING. THERE'S MORE THAT HAVE TO BE SAID BUT I WONT EVEN BOTHER AT THIS POINT. YES THE ROOMS ARE AMAZING, THE ONLY HOTEL THAT HAS A KITCHENETTE IN EACH ROOM AND I STARTED FROM JUNIOR SUITE. THE CRANE IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE I DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tatty rundown hotel

Awful slow service, nothing works in rooms, entertainment intermittent when they can be bothered, dirty faulty old bath and sinks, toilet don’t flush water constantly running, incompetent lazy staff sat in 1887 bar 4 hours without being asked if we wanted drinks! Dirty water features. No towels in room 2 days, whole resort tatty, rundown and badly needs refurbishing. Lift to beach not working. Run out of pool towels every day so you need to grab pool towels before 9am or Service charges added to bill despite very poor service. Wrongly overcharged several times staff are lazy incompetently and don’t care ! Breakfast terrible, long queues as not enough tables or staff $75 each poor quality food very little choice. Awful stay will not be returning ! This is far from a luxury resort as they advertise !
