    Very Crowded

Very happy to go here as my first vacation during covid. My complaints are that based on the money paid and the resort fees, we barely got to use anything on property because it was overcrowded. We tried the restaurant multiple times all with a 1hr plus wait to be seated. No pool chairs were available and just many empty chairs were around. Without getting daily cleaning service, Im not really sure how the hotel can justify it's price and a resort fee.

Noisy and crowded during Covid 19

This was our first trip in over a year since Covid 19 shut us down. If you are looking for a serene restful vacation, this is not the place. I was puzzled that this is considered a VIP Expedia property. There was no attempt made to provide any hospitality aside from providing the keys and a brief map description of the property. I was informed that I need to request housekeeping two days ahead and vacate the room for at least six hours. Pool chaises were not enough for the occupancy of the hotel, neither was the underground parking. There are no beach umbrellas even though they are pictured in the promotional photos. Dirty towels are piled by room doors waiting to be picked up by housekeeping and stay there for the entire day. We are not planning to repeat a visit to this property.

Honua Kai Konea 249 for Life!!

We are a family of 6 adults and a 15 month old toddler who just completed a stay in Konea 249. I almost hate to rave so much about our unit and stay because I hope to rebook at some point and want this unit available!! The unit was exactly as pictured and I was pleased with the level of cleanliness. Amenities provided in the room were appreciated (such as ice chests, beach toys, beach chairs, and umbrellas). Each couple had plenty of space for privacy as well as their own bathroom.. Two walk in closets provided a place for our grandson's Play and Pack to be set up. We especially enjoyed the large lanai and wall of windows - it was totally safe for our little one (sorry about all the finger prints left behind). The resort staff did a good job monitoring people who would come down early to "reserve" their pool chairs and then leave. If the chairs were unoccupied, but had towels and personal items left behind, the security staff would put everything in plastic bags and remove the items (we could observe this from our lanai). We didn't have trouble finding chairs at any time, although we would sometimes dangle our feet in the water until we saw something open up. We observed people bringing beach chairs from their rooms and setting them up next to the pool. It was nice that this was allowed. We knew that the beach in front of this property wasn't going to be great for swimming but it was still a good place to get our feet wet, watch the waves, and enjoy sunset every night. We enjoyed talking to other guests and were impressed with the numbers of families who were repeat guests (some even without little ones). There was a "quiet pool" in case the "noise" from all the kids wasn't appreciated. This was definitely a family resort. There was one night that a loud party of young people (I could see them from our lanai) disrupted our lanai enjoyment and I did call to complain. I was told that quiet hours started at 10pm and I have to admit that once that time came, everything was totally quiet (by then my husband and I were going to bed anyway). The courtyard seemed to echo noise a little but the buzz from the family lanai dinners was fun to hear. The boardwalk in front of the resort was great for walking and my husband and I walked past Whaler's Village and enjoyed looking at the various resorts and other beaches. We had dinner twice at Duke's and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. Make your reservations early!! We booked through Maui Resorts and I couldn't have been happier with their service. We didn't have a hair dryer in the master bathroom and we were given a brand new one. Also, we had requested a high chair and Play and Pack and those items were waiting for us when we arrived. We had trouble setting up the Play and Pack (Grandma and Grandpa error) and someone came immediately to help us. (thank you Adam!!). Every time I reached out to them with a question they responded promptly. After our family left my husband and I moved to a studio, rented through Costco and the resort. (We used Costco because it included a rental car and when we tried renting one on our own they were unavailable. We did see lots of cars parked in the rental lots so perhaps the shortage is lessening.) The layout of the studio was very comfortable but there was a marked difference in the cleanliness (shower doors very water stained, carpets and furniture stained). Also, no beach supplies but we expected this so it was not an issue. I thought the staff did a good job. It seemed that most were new to their jobs and were doing their best to make things run smoothly. We changed units after 1 week and the bell desk helped us store our refrigerated items before we could get in our new room. Our family definitely hopes to return!!

    Nice Clean Family Friendly

This review is for the resort in general and not a specific room. Rooms are offered by the resort, property managers and private rentals. The resort has several pools and is ideally suited for families. If you are looking for quiet or romance, perhaps select another resort. That said, if you go to the pool in late afternoon you have better odds that the kids are resting. Beach in front of the resort is clean but not very wide. Large rocks make it ill-suited for playing in the waves. Wander south toward the Westin for better waves to play in. Dukes restaurant is onsite and separately reviewed. Multiple amazing restaurants within 10-mins of the resort.

Our extended family of 8 stayed here in early March and it was the perfect situation for us. We booked into villa 8C through VRBO. It’s a unit managed privately by KB and not through the resort. The villa - with its own garage and entrance - offered the perfect combo of privacy and seclusion during the pandemic plus all the frills of the resort, including access to the large pools closer to the hotel. The spacious layout with huge private lanai (w bbq grill) plus the open concept layout and three large bedrooms and baths afforded everyone their own space. Especially enjoyed: - the separate “mini” pool and hot tub near the villa clusters that were only a 2 min walk from us. On some days, we were the only ones using it (although I would guess things are considerably busier now as people start to travel more) - beautiful landscaping and quiet solitude you get away from the larger and much busier hotel/main pool areas - lots of kid activities (waterslide in main pool; KB also stocked the storage closet with beach chairs and toys (nice touch!) - Duke’s restaurant on site, including ability to order poolside - prime whale-watching season (saw tons from shore) While there were a couple of things that needed attention/fixing, the KB staff were outstanding in their response time and super patient/friendly. Highly recommend going with one of their managed units. Only minus was the rollaway bed which had no support and was basically unusable so we returned. We enjoyed our time so much that we extended our stay the morning we were supposed to check out. Would go back in a heartbeat.
