    Valet totaled the back of our vehicle then blamed us!

    In May of 2018 two days before our wedding your valet driver ended up getting into a car accident while driving our rental vehicle. The result was our whole back bumper of the car hanging by a thread and the side of our vehicle near the back wheel being also damaged (which I have photos of from every angle). As you can imagine this was of huge stress to us as we were informed we had to find our own travel back to the airport to get another rental vehicle, there were no apologies, no assistance, nothing. After our families then getting involved and becoming outraged at the lack of customer service we received for their accident we were finally able to negotiate for a rental vehicle to be brought to the hotel so we would not have to go all the way to the airport, which we had no time to do two days before our wedding. We received our rental vehicle and spoke to our rental vehicle company, Budget Rent-A-Car and made them aware of the situation showing photos and having them speak to the head of valet who agreed to handle the cost of repairs to the damaged vehicle. We thought everything had been dealt with at this point as we returned the vehicle with no problems what so ever, until we arrived home and for the past year and three onths we have been receiving phone calls from a debt collector hired by Budget saying the Westin Maui refused to pay for the repairs to the vehicle and will not even respond to their phone calls anymore. This now leaving the debt collector calling us multiple times a week every week, like I said for over a year saying they cannot get a hold of the Westin Maui and since we are “next in line” they would like for us to deal with the situation. I've emailed customer service at the Westin and with multiple replies saying "We have forwarded this onto our resort so they may follow up with the insurance company and yourself". This was in FEBRUARY still no response 6 months later. You have ruined the days leading up to our wedding and these phone calls remind us multiple times a week of that. I demand some answers.

    I booked the trip on Priceline and did not get adequate notice that the hotel was under renovation and half of there pool area was under construction. The pics online also depicted the newly renovated rooms not the dated tower with distressed carpets. I had my son with me on this trip so the fact that the large water slide was out of commission was a big deal. The second smaller water slide only had water coming out from 2 of 6 nozzles and was not enough to propel the kids down the slide. I complained to both Priceline and the front desk but neither were in the mood to reverse the $30 per day resort fee. We ended up paying and using the Hyatt facilities and their working slides. I would recommend not staying here until after the renovation is complete.

    This was out 1st trip to Maui, my husband was a little disappointed to learn that the mega slide would not be completed in time for our children (ages 11 & 14) to enjoy but they didn't seem to miss it too much. The pool and the beach were amazing and offered plenty of entertainment with the waves in the ocean as well as the hidden whirlpool. The hotel lobby and Splash pool were under construction but as got a sneak peek when we were leaving and all agreed we need to go back in 2 years when the all of the hotel upgrades will be finished. Food at Whaler's Village was amazing. Yes it is a pricey vacation but well worth it.

    My wife and I stayed at the Westin, Ka'anapali for two weeks at the end of July 2019 with our two boys aged 10 and 8. We were aware of the construction work before we arrived, so it wasn't a surprise. It's a little disappointing at first BUT we ended up having the most amazing vacation and loved this hotel and its fantastic location. All the staff were so lovely, warm, friendly and helpful. The pool servers during the day worked incredibly hard and we were grateful of the amazing service. We had a beautiful ocean and mountain view room in the Beach Tower with king bed and sofa bed for the boys. I think this room had been recently renovated with beautiful decor and lots of space. If it wasn't for the construction work we would give this hotel 5.0. It will be fabulous when it's finished!

    The overall experience was good but was not made aware of the extent of construction when booking for our honeymoon trip. The location is excellent and once the renovations are complete im sure the resort will be 4 stars. Nothing awful happened except we had to change rooms bc the room had a lingering moldy smell that would not go away. Also, please note the carpets on every level are old and wrinkled. Honestly i have stayed at motels with better carpet in the hallways. I found it so odd bc every single level had the same awful worn out wrinkled carpet. One would think the owner would want to remedy that asap considering it smells musty and it makes bringing the bags to the room next to impossible. Like i said it was a good experience overall.
