This place has some wonderful villa suites right beside the sea. The gardens and grounds are perfectly manicured as are the beaches. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and if you like Jamaican cuisine you won’t be disappointed here. Besides the excellent spa there is a fabulous gym where Rasheed, the coolest trainer, is on hand to design a personal workout for you.

Not 5 Star - But a great vacation

Ok so we went over New Years with our 3 year old and had an overall amazing trip. Weather was wonderful, and beaches were fantastic, kids club is AMAZING. PROS: I have to start with the kids club - HATS OFF to them, They are wonderful and caring and lovely and made my 3 year old feel so welcome. They do a show EVERY NIGHT for the kids and she begged to do it every day. We have never been able to leave her anywhere for any amount of time and she would literally yell at us to get out so she could play. Beaches were A+. Sunset Cove is a must if you have small kids and don't want to deal with the craziness of the main pool. We found it on our second day and never went anywhere else. Entertainment is great and goes late. This is the first resort where there were actually shows/karaoke/fun everywhere. Even the casino was good for penny slots (albeit run down). CONS Had two huge roaches jump out of our closet the first night. We had our room changed from the first floor the next day. The issue I believe is they do not clear the room service trays and all the buildings are open to the outdoors - it's this kind of lack of attention that make it 3-4 stars overall. Food is fine. Just fine. It's whatever. This is not a culinary resort. It was edible and everywhere. The jerk huts are great. Service. It's just hard to articulate but no one will bend over backwards for you. This is not a resort where you are pampered. Atmosphere is PARTY. If we hadn't found Sunset Cove this would have been an issue having a small child.  Overall it's a 3.5 star property. Would we come back? Yes if the price was right. I cannot justify spending the same here for a Finest or Paradisus Family Concierge resort that is going to be actually 5 stars with service and food. But they took care of my child so well and really made her day that I would consider coming back for the right rate.

The food and service in this resort was absolutely terrible. Terrible! We were a group of four couples. One restaurant waitress forgot to bring us 2 appetizers.. then they forgot to bring 3 main entrees... the food tasted as if it was taken out of a can and heated up to room temperature. When asked for missing orders, we were given looks as if we were crazy. Waitresses were unapologetic. Similar experience in other restaurants. I have been to over a dozen resorts - in the US, Caribbean and in Europe... I have never experienced such bad service and food.

We really enjoyed our stay but there are some improvements they could make to make it more enjoyable. 1, our room was musty as was the room next to ours that friends stayed in. Building 17 2, our ac did not work very well. Fan on high speed sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. Our friends room on high speed fan didn't keep their room very cool either. 3 same food offered every day for lunch and breakfast. 4 We tried the Italian restaurant. Told there would be a wait. No problem expected one. Waited almost an hour to go in and found the restaurant half empty. Waitress finally came after being seated took drink order and said to go to salad bar. We told her, we wanted to order entre now (considering how slow things were going) she did so and we hit the salad bar. Then waited another hour for entrees to be served. My spaghetti was eldente and cold, as was my wife's cold stuffed ravioli. Our friends had burnt lasagna which they tried to cover up with added sauce. None of us finished our meals or waited for dessert offerings. While we were waiting for the entrees to come, a guy wearing a red chef's hat and smock was going around talking to tables. Never came to ours. If he had I had some choice things to say. My son is a professional chef and at one time worked at one of St Louis, MO best Italian restaurants on the Hill. I know that pasta dishes don't take that long to prepare. I will say this the food at all of the restaurants was great as was the service. Portions are small. The Jamaican interpretation of some stables like tacos burritos is different yet still good. 5. Travel club, and other offerings. The spa peopled offered a special every day and we declined respectfully and the accepted respectfully. Tour desk never bothered us and were awesome getting just the right tour we wanted. Amstar. But Stacey Ann from the Travel Club was overbearing and followed us. Too much. 6 poolside bar and swim up bars were excellent. Professional, curious. In fact the bartender who waited on me most of the time saw I was struggling getting up and getting sandals on. ( not from too many drinks, as I write this review I'm in a cpm machine recovering from total knee replacement surgery) He came over helped me and was so compassionate. He is a real asset. 7 evening music was enjoyable except sitting not 20 feet from a no smoking sign was a group of young men smoking cigars a clear violation of GPH policy and Jamaican law. Yet waitstaff continued serving without saying anything. We moved only to have another person light up. There are smoking areas but the Infinity bar is not one of them 8 shuttle service was outstanding. Although not a long walk, for someone with mobility issues it's wonderful. To ANTONY, the best driver you get a 5 star rating. Everytime he'd pick someone up, he'd ask if you were going to the airport. The looks on peoples faces was priceless. Like the commercial, Tip for Antony....................$20 Enjoyment from him..........priceless 9. Check in and out was easy and so was the transportation to and from airport.

Rolando Downer did a fantastic job at water aerobics in the pool and in the ocean. We smiled the whole time. Such fun and also made friends while participating! It was an awesome workout! My husband went snorkeling while I did all the work. Felt great the rest of the day. Thank you Rolando for the fun!
