West gate resort suited our busy holiday. It was clean and Staff members were very helpful with maid service everyday. The room suited the family and we were offered a pool or lake room. Having looked at Previous reviews they mentioned timeshare but it was mentioned 3 times and declined which was accepted. I was expecting it to be a hardsell. The pool and facilities were all very good and drafts a great pub. Overall a great holiday.

This wasn't our original hotel booking but due to the Thomas Cook fiasco we had to make a rush decision. The hotel and grounds were kept clean and "most" of the staff were pleasant. The room was a good size, just a bit frustrating we had to roll up the sofa bed every day so we come manoeuvre around it. It hotel is out of the way but ubers never cost too much. We reported an issue with the safe for 7 consecutive days but no one came out to look at it!! We were woken one night at 23.45hrs by security, hammering the door down, telling us to lock the front door (Communal door) at night!!! Also we were not told that there was major renovations happening, so we had noise from that, whilst we were at the pool. We were asked to go to the time share meeting but we decline and thankfully it ended there, no hard push like some had experienced. Just a word of warning...check your bank statements, as they took full payment again when we checked in. They did refund, once I questioned it. We also had an issue with Ants outside our room, by god those little things can bite. Shuttles to the park we're fine going but coming back, times were awkward so we got Ubers. One driver was extremely rude, closing doors on couples and driving off, despite people asking him to stop.

We were seduced at the shopping outlets to buy reduced price universal tickets, to receive these tickets you need to attend a 90 minute presentation at this resort. Against my better judgement we paid a 20 dollar deposit and agreed to attend meeting next day. On arrival at a shabby looking reception we had to fill in a questionnaire. This was 930 and we stated we needed to leave by 12 as we were playing golf, this was more than enough time for a 90 minute presentation. We met all the criteria they asked for however we were told we were not eligible as we were not married! Why this matters I've no idea as we have been together 7 years and are more together than married couples however I suspect it was because we stated we needed to be away by 12 thus not allowing them to do the full hard sell on us for hours. Lucky escape for us however no happy as wasting my precious holiday time. From what I saw I was not impressed by the place.

Stayed there from 1st November. Best thing about staying here was the beautiful view over lake, short walk to pool and in position in Orlando. Everything is within a short distance of the resort. The big drawback Is no free WiFi. It is the first time in the last 10 years of holidaying that we haven’t had complementary WiFi. The resort is cheap and I didn’t except at that price to pay for internet on top. Orlando is s resort where you need easy access to WiFi to plan your day etc. For this reason, I would not stay here again. Staff were efficient if not always polite but we could live with that.

I really don't have anything to complain about this resort. it really is nice. The staff is friendly, the resort is clean, the food is good, with access to a small market, deli, and restaurant. the only drawback is that this resort is gigantic. So big that you need shuttles to get around the resort. Including to and from your room to the front and main entrance of the resort. Which can become quite cumbersome at times when you're really needing to get going to places. But if you have a car, this is not an issue. I probably would have liked to have known that this resort is so big requiring shuttles before I booked the reservation. Needless to say I am not disappointed. This is a very well-managed resort. Kudos to all the staff, including housekeeping who did a wonderful job, the shuttle driver's who were always courteous, and to all the other staff working throughout the entire resort. If I had to stay in Orlando again, which I hope I don't, I would no doubt stay at the Westgate Lakes Resort again.
