We came here with our family (2.5 year old and 1 year old). The pools and places for kids to play and swim were great- I would rate that a five. I am giving the overall experience a 3 mainly because of the buffet and customer service there. First, they are strong about social distancing which I totally understand. But it’s so frustrating when every table you are allowed to eat at is dirty and literally no one will help you or clean it. This morning I had to clean a table myself (move dirty plates and dishes) off the table and wipe it myself. Then they come over and ask us to move AGAIN. No. They are very rude at both buffet services as well. If the food was good then it would be worth it, but we had to order room service most of the time bc that food was at least edible and we didn’t have to work with rude servers. The restaurants at dinner were better quality food. I’m 18 weeks pregnant and have probably lost weight during this week here bc the food during the day is so icky. It stinks because so many friends see the awesome pictures of the pools and I would recommend it if it weren’t for the buffet food and service.

We visited this resort for 7 days in April. The pro’s for this resort are the beach is beautiful and well kept up, the pools are really nice and the rooms aren’t bad if everything works. That’s the most we can say about pros. The cons list is way longer than it should be. First off, listen to the other reviews regarding the food. The buffet is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Your only option for breakfast and lunch are the buffet. If you are from somewhere with no food regulations, you will enjoy it. If you like food sitting out for hours without having the correct temperature, you will be in love. If you enjoy poor quality meat with hard chunks in it this is the place for you! Personally, I like food that is fresh and maintained at safe temperatures. My wife and I both got food poisoning from what we suspect was the buffet. We had no other options for food though, so we had to start sticking to bread and starving some days. The restaurants at night don’t have much flavor and are subpar. Trying to get silverware or drinks at the buffet is difficult unless you are waving money in the air. The drinks at the pool were so watered down it was difficult to even get a buzz. They have 1 beer available, El Presidente unless you want to spend 6 bucks for one Carona. If you want a beer, there is about 8 ounces per cup. There is one main bar in the pool area and one by the buffet areas. There are several bars in the children’s area however they were never busy and not many people hung out in those areas. They need more bar areas near the main pool. Your mini fridge comes with 4 beers and the temp of the fridge keeps them room temperature, if you are lucky you will get 4 beers a day restocked. If you don’t tip DAILY you might not get any. If you ask for more, you get told no even though it’s an all-inclusive resort. Our room was one of the farthest rooms from the main area (food, bar, pool). The resort was not extremely busy so we were not sure why we had to walk 15 minutes just to get a drink if we are in our room. They boasted about a shuttle service that brings guests from one area to the other, we rarely saw it. Our TV didn’t work. The light on the balcony did not work. The shower set up with glass covering half the shower meant water on the floor everywhere every time you used it. If you ran water in the sink the sulfur/sewer smell made you gag and lingered in the air for an hour or two. The covid testing process takes forever and there were only 4 people in front of us. After talking to other guests, we found the prices are subject to change. The other people we were talking to got charged 5 dollars each for a rapid antigen test the same day that my wife and I got tested. We had to pay 35 dollars each for some reason. If you don’t speak Spanish best of luck. One would assume it should be a simple process to get the test as nearly every guest has to do so to go home. If you do not speak Spanish, you will be very lost. Try to ask basic questions and get blank looks from the staff, or they would get angry because you don’t understand what they are saying. A simple English brochure would take care of so many headaches. For example, for anyone still going to this resort: 1. you seat yourself at the table that already have silverware on them, they have left the other tables empty of silverware for social distancing. Then you try making eye contact or waving a waitress over to get drinks-good luck on this, then you go get food. 2. Reserve your supper meals right when you check in otherwise you might not get dinner reservations and you will have to eat at the buffet for dinner as well. 3. There are free rentals like kayaks, paddleboards and sailboats on the beach! 4. There is basic medicine at one of the gift shops. 5. Bring granola bars or protein bars in case you need a snack. There are no snack stations aside from a candy store and the closest thing to a granola bar in the shop is a salted nut roll. 6. When booking ask to be placed in a room close to the main area so you’re not walking a mile each day to get to the pool. I know this is common for resorts, but the sewage smell is several places in the resort is sickening. The sports bar was nice but due to the smell we could not stay there long. Not sure if that can even be resolved due to the water purifying process etc. but it is BAD. The casino claims to be open 24/7 but it is not. It opens at 6 PM. They basically have 2 different slot machines and a few tables. After the first 30 minutes it is not fun as there is no variety. No wait staff bringing you drinks so you must walk up to the bar each time you need your 8-ounce beer refilled. The bartenders at the casino were amazing however. The spa has its own private pool/relaxing area. We were told only people that book the spa can use it. The problem is we spent 200 dollars on massages but were still told no. Not sure why. Seemed like a big, wasted area that was barely used. We booked several excursions and they were very disorganized, EVERY one was messed up, we verified our pick up times and when it came to the day of our excursion we got no response from the companies we booked from, they would send shuttle services to pick up guests and didn’t have our reservation and would not let us go even when we had paperwork confirming our reservation and that it was already paid, we had to speak to a representative at the hotel and move it to the next day to actually go on our excursions We talked to many other that had the same experience we did. We thought at first it was just us but everyone else had the same experience. We wish we took others advice and switched to a different resort the second day. We suspect half the 5-star reviews here are fake/paid for. There is no way you can enjoy going to an all-inclusive resort if this is your experience.

I went to Melia, a very luxurious hotel, but it does not compare with the kindness and charisma of the Dominicans in Punta Cana.My wife was very happy with these stays in Barcelo and even more for the guy from guess service, Jasme Magua, very funny, made us king to laughs with their pleasant way of laughing. We have traveled around the world and I tell you that Punta Cana is the best wherever you are greeted and told by my friend a sincere affection. This hotel has everything, all-inclusive drink, a huge casino, a beach with crystal clear waters, the restaurant with very good food as is the "la dolcevita my favorite. My wife and I really enjoyed the golf course and the tennis court that is also including the coconut waters that they gave us very rich by the way, for sure my second honeymoon will be in Punta Cana yes thank you barcelo staff

barcelo is a splendid hotel to spend with the family from our arrival it was super in the airport a good treatment until we got to the hotel, in reception a friendly service. a nice staff it should be noted that the guess service department is also the nice concierge jasme magua who gave us an excellent service reserved the best restaurants, my son josua wanted to go to tenpayaky but it is full and he did everything possible to please him and so on We had a very good dinner at the jabachi, I really appreciated that, jasme. The pirate ship is very entertaining for children just like the scape room. Although the theater did not have a show due to the pandemic but every night they put music videos on a giant screen. We went on an excursion to an island called Samana to see the humpback whales, although I couldn't see some, it was spectacular; it's a beautiful country "like your hotel barcelo the beach is very clean with several life savers for the care of the guests. if the bars are total Like almost all the restaurants that Jasme Magua reserves for us, except the French restaurant, which is not included, the oceanfront rooms have a wonderful view. everything was wonderful
