Disappointing Experience at Ocean Riviera Paradise, Mexico
Chevy2500hd (Timmins, Canada) on Mar 23, 2024
Our recent stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise in Mexico left us with mixed feelings, to say the least. As seasoned travelers, our expectations were high, but unfortunately, they were not met. Upon arrival after a delayed flight by 9 hours, we arrived at 4:00 am, only to find no welcome drink awaiting us. The frustration continued as we waited for 30 minutes for our ride to our room after check-in, with no one else around and the lobby empty. The buffet experience was underwhelming, with repetitive options and poorly managed food stations. Cold dishes were lukewarm, and the hot ones were cold and overpicked, exacerbated by unsupervised children making a mess. Throughout the resort, there was a notable lack of refuge from the sun, as inadequate air conditioning in buildings left us sweating profusely, even during meals at the restaurants. Our room flooded, soaking our clothes, and it took multiple complaints and five hours for the staff to relocate us, only to find the bed for our child unmade, the resort did not offer to clean our soiled garments that smelt like mold. The closure of amenities such as the crepe shop and pool bars during peak spring break season was perplexing and inconvenient. Additionally, the inefficient management of beach and pool seating, coupled with staff's reluctance to address special requests, added to our dissatisfaction. The tiered guest system and persistent sales pitches for timeshares further detracted from our experience. We believe all guests should receive equal treatment, regardless of room category, and the arcade should be a free amenity for all guests. Furthermore, the lack of sanitation protocols, evident in the spread of illnesses among children and inadequate cleaning of commonly touched surfaces, raised concerns about hygiene standards. We strongly believe that young children should not be serving themselves at the buffet stations unsupervised, and staff should enforce this rule. It's important to note that the condition of the beach this year was not solely the resort's fault and responsibility. However, we encountered a significant obstacle with a nasty ridge of rocks and coral approximately four feet into the water, followed by a sharp downward dip. This made accessing the water unbearable without water shoes, prompting us to seek a better entry point at the nearby Princess Resort. Although the staff were generally friendly, their reluctance to accommodate requests and address concerns promptly left much to be desired. Despite its potential, Ocean Riviera Paradise falls short of its advertised standards. We rate our experience a 4-star, but regrettably, we doubt we will return to an Ocean property in the future. We also noted that the pool water seemed cloudy, suggesting possible chemical imbalance, and the closure of the rooftop privilege lounge was disappointing. Additionally, while the beer selection was good, the craft beer option, albeit enjoyable, was expensive and should be included in the all-inclusive package. The cocktails, particularly at the piano bar in the lobby, were noteworthy for their quality.

Fernando, Aranza, and Jessica were amazing! Made the trip really fun. The fire show was nice, played lots of water volleyball with them. They were super interactive and friendly. Had so much fun with them. Definitely would recommend this place to friends who wanna come down to have a good time. It was my first and had such good memories

Loved this hotel! Carlos, Malena, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and everyone we encountered were outstanding. Top notch service. We felt like we were spoiled all week. Loved the Privilege amenities, swim up bars, and all the restaurants! 10/10 would recommend a massage while you’re here! The beach was beautiful, the pools were relaxing, and the desserts were delicious! I would absolutely consider coming again. Loved the rooftop suite!
Outstanding service!

This place prides itself on service! Our butler Angel was considerate of our needs and prompt with bookings and had the foresight to book restaurants and make recommendations based on our preferences. In the privilege lounge Alfredo, Fidel and Alexis were outstanding in recommendations and had refills before the last sip. At the beach Rosa and Melanie were thoughtful, caring and had great humour. Santiago worked his booty off serving all the drinks all day and delivery yummy lunches. The service is outstanding. I would rate the service 12/10. The downside is the rooms are pretty worn out and need a little attention but everything was in working order, was very clean and comfortable. The beach is only rocky the first little bit and then super silky sand that is not too deep.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are very welcoming. There are a variety of restaurants that you can choose from and the food is delicious. There are a range of activities and it’s nice that they get everyone involved. I will definitely be coming back and recommend to anyone! A shout out to Jessica and Victoria who continuously made me and my partner feel welcome. Thank you :)
