    We stayed for 7 nights and the service and cleanliness of the resort was beyond excellent. The employees there really make you feel like royalty. I'd like to give a special thanks to some wonderful people starting with Natalia in public relations, Dionicio and Porfirio in Cafe del Mar, Miguel and Pablo in Momo asian cuisine and Felipe in the lobby bar. These people were always ready to serve with a smile (you could see this behind the mask, trust me). Thank you guys for making us feel great during our stay. Special Thanks to the person who prepares the ceviche, it was the best! Francisco Obregon

    Everything at Playacar Palace was perfect during our stay even though things are very strange right now due to Covid. The employees were nothing but helpful and nice and the resort is very well maintained we will definitely be staying at Palace properties from here on out when we do vacations to Mexico!

    We were at playacar palace last week. Let me first sat that they are doing everything possible to keep you safe. The service there was amazing. First the pool. Gaby was absolutely AMAZING.,along with Eder. The restaurant Cafe del mar had great food and amazing service. Especially porticico and delmino Our favorite place was the Italian restaurant. Best service we have ever had Antonio, Olivia and our servers name I cannot remember but he was the only server wearing glasses. Would also like to give a shout out to Brenda from the entertainment staff. The entertainment was amazing there. Love this resort.

    Alright, this hotel presents itself better on its website than in reality. The resort grounds were a bit tired feeling—may have possibly felt semi-swanky 15 years ago (which is when it was built). The hotel sits directly on the beach next to the ferry pier with only a pool area for guests to enjoy (don’t expect to post up comfortably on the beach here). However, It was pretty fun to be just a few steps from downtown playa del Carmen. The town has fun/casual shopping, dining and nightlife if you want to stretch your legs and get off the property. The food/beverage service at the hotel was excellent. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and cocktails. Unfortunately We paid a premium for a governors suite (which was a mistake). the standard room with the ocean view is all you need (I peeked into one for comparison). Our governors suite really was more of a “junior” suite and was pretty dark and claustrophobic—overall bad layout. The gym and spa were alright. Nothing to write home about. Of course this is a Palace Resorts property so a sales person intercepts you upon arrival to strong arm you into a 90 minute sales meeting (during which they heavily pressure you to buy a membership to their wildly overpriced vacation program). Do yourself a favor and spare yourself from this painful waste of precious vacation time. In summary, this place was underwhelming. Next time I’m in the playa del Carmen area I shall explore elsewhere.

    We visited Playacar Palace from July 11-18th. This was a much needed and fabulous vacation. The attention to detail and safety protocols left us feeling more relaxed than we have in months. As soon as we stepped out of the vehicle we were offered hand sanitizer by Marco, our luggage was collected and disinfected by Manuel and we stepped on a sanitizing mat to clean our shoes. All of the staff were wearing masks all of the time. Check-in with Carmen was super-fast and we were off to our room but not before being offered a glass of champagne by Senior Carmen. Manuel escorted us to the room with our luggage, the door was sealed to show that it had been sanitized and we were requested to remove the seal so that we could enter. The room was fantastic with a huge balcony. The fridge was stocked (and again sealed), everything was spotless. There was a Purely Palace pouch that contained wipes, gloves, masks and soap. We went to visit the lobby bar for a fantastic margarita made by Benito. We were then escorted to lunch by Chef Oscar and his team Chef Ruben, Chef Aurtero and Chef Luis, where we had an amazing lunch in restaurant Cafe Del Mar. Fabulous shrimp ceviche and chicken panuchos. Truly an amazing team of talented chefs! Porfirio and Edgar Provided excellent service and kept our drinks flowing. After lunch we found our place at the pool as the beach beds are not available for now. We were greeted by the Pool Concierge Eder who brought us towels, set our chairs up and positioned the umbrella so that I could be in the shade while my wife enjoyed the sun. Eder was out each morning doing the same for all of the guests all day long. In addition, Eder had a kit with him to provide additional hand sanitizer, disinfectant and sanitizing wipes for our phones. Although the swim up bar is closed, the service around the pool was just as perfect as ever! Thank you to Sylvia, Gabby and Daniella for everything you did to make us feel relaxed and happy! The bartenders all over the resort are fantastic and make fabulous drinks and custom cocktails. Thank you Carmen, Juan, and Carmeleno. All around excellent service all around the pool area. The beach was open and we took advantage of it for a daily walk and to cool down in the ocean. Nacho (Ignacio) was always around making sure everyone was safe, taking care of visitors' chairs/umbrellas and providing great conversation. We never did order room service as we were so full from all of the wonderful meals. However, we enjoyed breakfast at Cafe Del Mar which was ordered from a sanitized menu or you can use your smart phone and scan a QR code to view it. We tried something different each morning and had a couple of special requests that were accommodated. Thank you Porforio, Doinicio, Sotero, and Edgar!! Again, excellent service. Also, thank you to Chefs Oscar and Arturo for the fabulous last morning treat of a gastronomic tour of Mexico. By far one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. Thank you!!!! We really enjoyed the a la carte breakfast since the buffet was not available. Lunch was equally as good and was also from a menu in the restaurant or the aqua bar. We had a couple of special lunches (Gracious Luis, Olivia, Carmen and Minerva). We truly appreciate it, the food was absolutely delicious and so creative! Chef Gabriel at the Aqua bar kept us full and happy the rest of the trip! They have an excellent variety between the outdoor pizza oven, grill or restaurant. Dinner we had a mix of Italian and Asian, and a couple of special dinners. Chef Nayeli from Bocelli spoiled us again with her amazing talents and we enjoyed every bite. Also thank you to Jair! The service here is fantastic also by Ricardo and Antonio! In the Asian restaurant we sat at the Teppanyaki table one night and enjoyed a great dinner by Marco and service by Roger and Herlin. We ordered off of the menu one night which was again delicious. One night Chef Rueben and his team prepared a fantastic dinner for us that was finished with an amazing desert. These chefs are so talented and creative! Again, thank you all. I visited the spa twice which was fantastic. Once you arrive you step on the sanitizing mat, they provide you with soap and check your temperature. My services were with Isidra and she was excellent. Carlos helped me to the locker and made sure I was comfortable. Thank you both! The entertainment staff were great and fun to be around. Thank you Jorge for taking our many requests for our favorite Latin songs!! The management and staff at Playacar were on top of everything. Their safety protocols far exceed anything else that we have seen since this pandemic began. They are very forward thinking and are taking things very seriously for both the safety of guests but also employees. For the most part, unless we were at the pool, beach or eating/drinking we also wore masks. When we walked the beach or in town, most people were wearing masks as well. Were things different, yes we could not see any smiles or shake hands or give a hug goodbye. But some things didn’t change and were even better. We will be back again...and soon. Also, as always we left a tip each morning for housekeeping. The first day the money was still there after the room was cleaned, he/she did not touch it. We took it to the front desk where we placed it in an envelope and the staff were going to deliver it to the supervisor to make sure the employee received it. This happened a few times. That is honest service and now we will always remember to leave a note of thank you. Thank you to all of the Playacar Palace staff, you are amazing, and we look forward to our return!! We cannot wait to go back and you should not wait either!!!
