It's all about location and vintage vibes at the Westin St. Francis. The hotel is beautiful, however the rooms seem more basic/bland than the rest of the hotel. The staff is friendly and the area is lively, so I recommend you stay for that and for the easy access to top tourist spots and shopping.

We recently spent 1 night at the Westin while celebrating our anniversary. On hearing the reason for our trip, we were upgraded to a room in the new tower with an expansive view of the city towards the bay and a late checkout which we thought was so kind and thoughtful! It made the tail-end of our trip end on a very sweet note! The hotel itself is grand and full of history, beds were to be as expected from a Westin which we look forward to after a full day of driving. The room was spacious and all amenities were thought of. They include a little rollerball of lavender oil for relaxation and sleep! The views from the elevator are a real treat especially at night when the light from the city are on display and the location is great for people who are driving into the city. The location was convenient for squeezing the most out of our time for sightseeing- trolley to Fisherman’s wharf is right in front, the square was setting up for the holiday season, and the Union sq parking was right across the street and the financial district was just a short 2 min walk away.

Old Hotel, Bad Service, Staff, Management, Avoid!

Old Hotel, Bad Service, Staff, Management, Avoid! We stay at this hotel with our whole family. There was a miscommunication between me and wife when making booking, so I made booking and wife also made booking. We booked 4 rooms total while we need only 2. We called hotels to help sort things out. They are not willing to help. So we paid 4 rooms and ended up only using 2 rooms. And worse yet, when we arrive, they sold the 2 unused rooms to walk in guest. Avoid this hotel run by a crooked management. There are many hotels nearby. Westin should be ashamed of its brand.

We recently spent a long weekend at the Westin St. Francis and had a great time. The customer service, especially from Jeff at the concierge desk was outstanding. Jeff exemplified how customers should be treated and offered great suggestions on the local area and his recommendations were “spot on”. I highly recommend you speak with Jeff if you need assistance with any requests or recommendations when staying at the St. Francis. The location of the property is excellent and you can catch the cable cars right in the front of the hotel. We have stayed at this property on other occasions and will return again, when in San Francisco.

Dated and in desperate need of an Upgrade

I have just spent 2 nights at Westin Union Square and I will NOT be returning. The property is very dated and in desperate need of a facelift. The room I was given had a very unpleasant smell that hit you as soon as you entered the room. It was frankly quite unnerving. I was told that they were full and unable to offer me a different room. The bathroom looks and feels like something out of the 80s and combined with the very unpleasant smell, it made for a terrible stay. I couldnt wait to check out!! Housekeeping staff, whilst nice and polite, did a very sparse job of cleaning the room. The fitness centre is in a windowless room and again, equipment was old and dated.
