This was our first trip to Royal West Indies but our 4th time visiting Turks and Caicos. We normally stayed at another resort our friend owned the condo but recently sold. We read all the reviews online and decided to give this resort a try. We stayed for 10 days and were very happy with the resort. The grounds are beautiful and are maintained very well. The staff is very friendly at the restaurant, bar and beach side areas. We booked a studio garden view which as in building 8 nearest the front desk but furtherest from the beach. It is a relatively small resort so the walk is only a couple of minutes to the beach. I actually preferred being in building 8 as if you get closer to the beach you are also closer to the restaurant , bar, etc. which can be louder at night time if your early to bed like we are. The beach had lots of chairs, umbrellas so no issue each day getting a spot to site. As usual Grace Bay beach is absolutely beautiful as it is at most resorts along this section. A few minor negatives as mentioned in other review no water provided free of charge at the beachside area. Most other resorts on the beach have this at their beachside stands for the guests to use. The other issue was when we arrived we asked about an upgrade meaning we were willing to pay for a 1 bedroom condo as we did prefer to have a full kitchen and not just a microwave and minimal supplies as the studio has. The resort was not overly full given off season and they had availability but gave us a price which was almost double what we had already paid. I declined given the amount they wanted additional. The next day a couple arrived that we met on the beach and proceeded to tell us how they were offered a free upgrade to a larger room with better views. I decided to go back to the front desk and asked again about an upgrade. This time a different price was quoted and although a bit lower still significantly more money than I had already paid. I asked about the other people getting a free upgrade but was given no answer. In the end we stayed with the studio as this is what we paid for. I was provided exactly what we requested so no complaints about that I just felt the whole upgrade issue was handled poorly by the resort.

We stayed here for 4 nights while on a trip to Turks & Caicos. The room was spacious, kitchen was great to have. It’s a wonderful option for staying right on Grace Bay without spending a fortune. The staff isn’t the friendliest, and they do use quite a few chemicals with the grounds upkeep. The chemical smell really does linger and made lounging by the pool impossible. We would absolutely stay here again!

The Pina Colada Strudel is simply out of this world!! The Happy Hour is great with all kinds of drinks at half price. The ambiance is very high-end relaxed. The tables overlook a beautiful pool surrounded by flowers and palm trees!! Check out this very special restaurant/bar................

    Great place to stay.

This resort is one of the smaller ones on Grace Bay ( some are huge). The groundskeepers keep everything perfectly trimmed all the time!. Rooms are nicely furnished, very clean, have coffee, tea, microwave, fridge & even apartment sized washer & dryer, also. patios which had a table & chairs. Our room was about 15 steps from a wonderful pool & Jacuzzi. There is a nice restaurant & bar on the property- great servers- Geon & Mila. A lovely stretch of beach just a few steps further and beach towels always available. Warm, clear water, easy waves & 3-4 feet deep for quite a ways out.

    Best part is the beach.

Just returned from a 6 day stay at Royal West Indies celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Some pros.....the grounds, the beach, the cleaning/bar/grounds staff were nice. Our room was clean, could use updating and we had a nice view of the pool and grounds. Some cons....terrible pillows, the resort restaurant and bar is pricey($30US for 2 drinks) but they do have happy hour and specialty nights. The worst part for me was the location, we didn't rent a car and the restaurants in the immediate area are on the pricier side. A better selection of restaurants and the local IGA are found downtown which is about 15-20 min walk. A section of the walk there is along a wooded area which could be an issue at night. We were warned by a couple of locals to avoid the area at night if possible. If you venture off the resort at dusk bug spray is a must, the resort is sprayed. I wouldn't stay at this resort again because I would rather stay closer to downtown where everything is in walking distance.
