We've just returned from a week's stay at Villa del Mar in one of their studio suites. I have to say that our stay was fantastic and Villa del Mar more than exceeded our expectations. While it is not located directly on the beach it is right behind Grace Bay Club with an easy walk to the beach past Grace Bay Club's Grill and their pool area. Grace Bay Club has a sandal rack where we left our sandals each day when we went to the beach. Once you get to the beach you have about a 100 foot walk to their designated beach chairs where their employees will get you set up on beach chairs with umbrellas. Right next to Grace Bay Club is Ocean Club West and some of their rooms were within 30 feet of Villa Del Mar's pool so their walk to the beach would be almost as far. Villa Del Mar has 3 or so room types with the smallest being the studio suites which have only a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, full size coffee maker and a refrigerator. They also have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites which include a full kitchen. I believe though that the 3 bedroom suites are a 2 bedroom suite with a studio attached. All the rooms have washers and dryers and they include soap. The studio has a full size tub and also a separate shower. They have 3 buildings of rooms. We stayed in room C302 which also had a partial ocean view. I'm not sure if many of the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor would have any kind of ocean view and some of the 3rd floor rooms would also not have a view but all of the 4th floor rooms would it seems. Included is a continental type breakfast which includes mini pastries, chocolate croissants, plain bagels, english muffins and some bread for toasting and boxes of cereal. There are oranges and there may or not have bananas (mostly not). They have coffee, hot water, orange and apple juice. If you are on a low carb diet look elsewhere for breakfast. The breakfast runs from 7:30 to 9:30. The Grill at Grace Bay Club has a breakfast buffet which is $38. It was almost always very quiet at Villa del Mar. Nobody really used the pools or hot tub after 9pm. If you have a car parking is in the rear near to the elevators for the 3 buildings. I wish I remembered the names of the employees but I found everyone to be pleasant and more than helpful. There are plenty of restaurants within about a 15 minute walk including Coco Bistro which I would advise everyone to eat at during their stay in Provo. We walked by or through all of the resorts up to Seven Stars and for the price I would definitely stay there again.

We returned to Villa del Mar for the last week after having previously enjoyed a similar 1 week visit last December. They have a reserved section of the beach where they have helpful and friendly folks set you up with loungers, umbrellas, waters, etc. The beach is amazing. That is why people come from all around the world to Grace Bay Beach. We were in a deluxe studio room - this time on 3rd floor, last year on ground floor just outside the hot tub. It was very comfortable and clean the rooms were cleaned every day and they provided free basics like shampoo / soap / laundry and dish detergent. We had a mini kitchen with fridge / microwave / toaster / coffee maker (with free Wolfgang Puck coffee packages). There are 2 spacious pools with a hot tub in between. The grounds are immaculately groomed with lovely foliage. There is a free daily continental breakfast with coffee / juices / breads / oatmeal / fruits. There is also a full service bar with the awesome Captain Bill however we had already stocked our room with most drinks from nearby Graceway Gourmet supermarket. VDM is located next to Grace Bay Club and Ocean Club West within easy walking distance of the main shopping / restaurant district including Ports of Call Plaza, Regent Village and Salt Mills Plaza (with Potcake Place!). Overall Provo can be a costly destination however VDM is a very affordable option that offers lovely rooms, fantastic people, and access to the world's most beautiful beach at Grace Bay.

My Husband and I are staying at VDM and are on our second to last day here. We have previously been to TCI and stayed at Royal West Indies which we liked but find VDM better. We are not snobs in any sense of the word but we do enjoy the finer things in life. With that said, we found VDM perfectly suitable for our 4 night, 5 day stay. I don’t understand the negative reviews about the service here, or maybe I’m just lucky we had such a great experience. From check in to now everyone has been beyond friendly and courteous. Toya checked us in and she was very sweet. She was able to get us an early check in which was a bonus. Kerone and Lerone are the stars of the show as they go out of the way to make sure you are happy on the beach. Everyone from resort staff to service workers always greeted us in passing. Although we would not hesitate to stay here again and probably will in the future, Nothing and nowhere in life is perfect and there’s always room for improvement. A few things I feel can add to the already wonderful resort 1) full length mirrors and dressers to keep your clothes. I found it especially odd that there was no clothing storage besides a few hangers in the closet and we mostly “lived” out of our suitcase. There are little baskets in the TV shelf but not enough storage for clothes. 2) the smell of mildew was sometimes strong in our room but hey, it’s the Caribbean. The room was always cleaned thoroughly. When we first arrived it wasn’t super clean but that could be because they graciously gave us an early check in so the cleaning could have been rushed. All the following days the room was very clean. 3). The bedding is not always freshly washed. I was turned off by this, I could tell the pillow cases and shams were not fresh. Onto the breakfast buffet, I’m not a breakfast person so it was fine for me. My Husband was also satisfied. I don’t understand what people are expecting, if you booked the resort knowing they were already giving you continental breakfast, why complain? Continental breakfast is just that, a small breakfast...not a full hot breakfast. Don’t book if that’s what you’re expecting. They could still charge the same price for your stay here and NOT serve breakfast since the accommodations are affordable as compared to elsewhere. We met many lovely people staying at neighboring resorts and the great thing about Grace Bay is that you can utilize other resort bars and restaurants and even walk around and tour them. PS the walk to the beach is NOTHING...it’s so close and we didn’t mind it at all. Totally worth it to save money. To summarize, Provo is truly paradise and most people who have given negative reviews on VDM in my opinion probably wouldn’t be satisfied anywhere. Just book it and you won’t regret it.

    Great value!

My husband and I returned from our first trip to Turks and Caicos, and had a great time staying at Villa del Mar. Our room was in building C, the closest building to the Grace Bay Club beach access, it took us 2 mins max to walk to the beach. We got upgraded (thank you low season?) from a studio to a one bedroom, so we had a full kitchen, fully equipped, fridge, it even had a blender, toaster, coffee maker, etc. We saved a bit from eating out by buying groceries and cooking lunch and one dinner. Our room had a king size bed, a nice closet, there was another room with a pull out bed, and the living room had one pull out bed. The resort is about a 2 min drive to Graceway Gourmet, the upscale grocery store. We walked from VDM to Saltmills and Regent Village shopping areas during the day, but don't recommend walking at night. We also rented a car so we were able to drive to the other side of the island. I left out one star because I felt they could do breakfast (free) better. They served pastries, boxed cereal, juices, fruits, oatmeal -- but if they would provide some hard boiled eggs or other protein maybe like deli ham, turkey, etc - that would be great.
