Am not big on reviews but I just want to say i had a had a best time at this hotel "Meliã International" to be honest as a Jamaican the food is a little different for me but thats what culture is about. And with my friend and i speaking a little Spanish by little Spanish meaning not enough Spanish, communications wasn't so hard. The staff at the level was always ready to assess you. I just want to say thank you specifically to a few employees that works at the level lobby and the main restaurant who went over and beyond our expectations. -Bryan -Ladien -Dayana -Osiel -Ariel -Jesus -Lazaro Jauier from security -Daima from the main restaurant So thanks Claudia from barracuda for the lovely diving experiences Thats to you all once again!!! One love from Jamaica Roy and Gail

I have never written a review before but feel the need to after visiting here. We have just finished our 2 week stay here and it’s the first year I have ever been on holiday and wanted to go home. If you are English then sorry I would not advise you to go. The food is absolutely terrible. Especially in the buffet. They do not cater for English guests at all. And I totally agree with the other comments made. Firstly the hotel itself is lovely but it is not 5 star by any means. We have lost loads of weight being here. Breakfast - Bacon raw , no beans , no tomatoes, no sausage unless you like hot dog sausage or spicy. Flies everywhere. Lunch and tea time same food all the time. Pork rice pasta. Day in day out. Not a lot of salad either. No lettuce no onion no tomato again. Restaurants are better but you can’t always get them. They alternate the days of opening of them. Also they need to get proper chefs as I had chicken twice that was raw in the middle so check your food before eating. Most of the staff cannot understand English either which was a problem when asking what certain foods were. It was guess work. We have had no hot drink for 2 weeks either as the coffee is terrible and the tea is even worse. They put cold water in the cup and heat it up in the microwave. I could go on and on. It’s such a shame as we had high hopes for this place but if it keeps it’s five stars I will be very shocked. For us the food was a major issue. Also they run out of stuff very easily. They ran out of orange juice and cola while we were here. Entertainment- Spanish songs all day long and same ones every day. They speak in Spanish as well as there are more here so again leave us English out. Night time no shows just clarinet or violinist Positive. Beach was beautiful and the views were great. Modern looking hotel. Would I go back ? Definitely not

Traveled with a party of 9 at end of August. Resort is very nice - modern, clean and lots of chairs around pool and beach. Hotel scored low on food choices and quality. Undercooked food and minimal choices at buffet. A la cart was better quality. But many of the places were closed. The hotel is not fully open yet. Service was not good anywhere. Unless you spoke Spanish, you were not taken care of. It was very frustrating. We tipped generously at the beginning, but that didn’t matter when other Spanish speaking patrons were around. Even the entertainment (the little that they had) was in Spanish. They don’t really cater to English speaking which is very bizarre and different then the last time we traveled to Cuba. Nights were a bit boring. No club or big production shows. Maybe when they are fully opened it will be better. However, they need to work on their service.

I dont normally write reviews but on this occasion I feel the need to tell other people about our experience at the Melia International. We are just back from a two week stay in Cuba and I have got to say with my hand on my heart we couldn't fault the hotel. The hotel was immaculate and our room was cleaned every day, clean towels including beach towels were changed daily (thanks Lisandra and team). We also enjoyed the figures that were created from the towels as well as kind messages left for us. The food we couldn't fault we tried everything apart from the Gourmet restaurant which was unfortunately closed when we tried to book it (I understand that this restaurant will be cash only and people will need to pay- kind of defeats the all inclusive concept). All the other restaurants we tried and there was a lot of choice so we didn't ever feel that we were limited to one thing or the other. All the staff were so friendly and and communicated to us in English without too much trouble- special mention to Jenni (at the level) who was always smiling and laughing with us- thanks for the memories. Sonya and Ernesto were our concierge team who looked after us so very well along with John. On the whole we didn't have anything to complain about- rooms were immaculate a bath double shower and separate storage areas- all very modern. The fridge was stocked every day although we did have to go get some tea bags from time to time- no big deal as we were always passing the bar anyhow so we could pick some up. There was never a shortage of sunbeds or umbrellas- in fact Frank would always come and out two umbrellas next to our beds- thanks Frank was much appreciated. we would love to go back to Cuba the culture and their attitude is something that we can all learn something positive from- our experience was amazing and will never forget it- we are hoping to go back in a couple of years time.
