The Escape at Nonsuch Bay Resort Antigua is a newly opened part of the estate (Feb 19), located a small distance away from the established resort. The Escape is differentiated by being child free and wholly à la carte dining. Access to the main resort is included in the package, with its bar and restaurant, pools, private beach with bar, sailing club and boat trips. There is a steep hill separating the two locations which are less than a 10 minutes walk apart or a car quickly appears to take you between the two (thanks Billy!) We stayed at the beginning of March, although it was difficult to tell that it was newly opened; there were no visible snags or issues throughout our stay. The defining feature of the Escape is the service. Avella the manager does a great job; she has set very high standards and her team delivers. I regularly stay in international hotels all over the world and the Escape easily compares with the best levels of customer service. From the moment of arrival in the gorgeous reception area where you are checked in with a welcome cocktail and amuse bouche, Keira and Loretta will look after you and provide an excellent concierge service organising trips, hire cars and taxis. Vincent dispenses cocktails and wisdom with equal aplomb, and Charmaine and Zoe run the restaurant, ensuring excellent levels of service and mentoring the junior members of staff. The backroom staff also do a great job maintaining the rooms and grounds and everyone was friendly and happy to help. The team clearly enjoys their work and the whole effect ensures that guests are relaxed and enjoy their stay. The food at the dining area overlooking the bay is excellent; fruit, cereals and cooked breakfasts in the morning; great tapas/bar snacks and a special at lunch then an evening menu, usually with a choice of three options for starter and main, with a couple of deserts plus sorbets and ice creams. The food is excellent - Chef and his small team produce constantly varying dishes (there wasn’t a repeated dish on the evening menu throughout our stay) with fresh local ingredients, imaginatively prepared and presented. Portion sizes are fine dining - if you want an all you can eat buffet, then this probably isn’t for you. The house wines and spirits (all included and not limited) are good and certainly above the normal standard for a package, with a choice of at least five wines at each meal. Each ‘house’ contains four separate apartments (upstairs apartments will give a slightly better view of the bay) and they are well equipped. Furnishings and bedding are high quality and the indoor space contains the king size bed, which enables you to look out through the large patio doors, separate shower and loo, double sinks and a kitchenette area with a fridge stocked with complementary drinks (including water, soft drinks, beer and welcome fizz) and a kettle and coffee machine. The décor is neutral, sophisticated and relaxing; the wifi is good and there are blackout curtains, good aircon and an in-room safe. Through the patio doors, there is an outdoor bath tub, a large very comfortable day bed and a small plunge pool. Overall, the Escape is a new part of an established resort. The location and the team deliver a luxury, relaxing experience with high quality and excellent customer service underpinning everything. We didn’t want to leave and will return - I can think of no better compliment. Thank you to all for a wonderful stay.

This complex is on the edge of nowhere. Beautiful location, but there is nothing else for miles (and don't believe the tripadvisor website which says it's 5 mins from the airport - it's 45) and there is no real flavour of Antigua. Plenty to do on site; lovely large rooms; small restaurant; small lounge area; small bar; limited evening entertainment and no local flavour to it (when we were there, it was a local combo playing regular Western easy listening). Leaving very early one morning, they were very reluctant to provide a packed breakfast and when they did so it was not exactly imaginative.

Whilst the resort is lovely, remote and relaxing I felt the drinks offer let the overall premiumisation down with no branded choices. The complementary trip to green island a must. Looking forward to trying the escape area in may

    Overall, eh.

This is my first time ever writing a review, and I am doing so in an attempt to balance out the rave reviews, helping paint a fair picture of the resort to future customers. Our suite was remarkable, with a wraparound porch, not a negative thing to say about it. The layout of the resort was hilly, which, I cannot knock because my boyfriend chose this resort for that reason. If you have any knee/leg/back/or health issues, this resort is NOT FOR YOU. It was not a problem for us at all, but you are always walking, sometimes, incredibly steep paths; my boyfriend wore sneakers the whole trip instead of sandals, for that reason. The food was great! We loved the menu every night and were never disappointed by the breakfast or lunch buffets. The staff in the dining area was hit or miss. Jesse was a gem! Always smiling, and eager to make everyone feel comfortable. Other than that, I was not impressed. I was apprehensive about there not being options for food in between meals at the resort; however, I left every meal completely satisfied and snacking was not a necessity. My favorite part of a vacation is sipping my drink in the pool, this is not an option at Non Such Bay. There are not pool bars, and if you want drinks, it is a hilly walk to the main bar. Natasha, at the front desk, assured me there was pool bar service upon arrival, this was not my experience. One day, we spent five hours at the pool, an attendant came around once and brought back an 8 oz pina colada; that lasted all of thirty seconds. I know it appears in almost review, and that is why I am shocked it has not been remedied, but bottles of water were not readily available to guests. I called the front desk three times, each time I wanted more. And you do not receive carry friendly bottles, those you have to pay for. Rather, they provide you with 3 gallon jugs? The couples only side of the resort opened the week we were there. We were told we were not supposed to know about the other restaurant, but they would try their best to get us a reservation. The whole scenario was perplexing because when we went, the place was empty! Five other tables of couples- that’s it. We also had to pay $30 each to dine there, for the same exact liquor and a smaller menu. The whole evening was confusing. I would agree with all of the reviews that mention the “nickel and diming” mentality demonstrated by this resort. Overall, I felt this air of we should feel lucky to be there and the staff was not motivated to accommodate us. I joked with my boyfriend each day whenever we would break one of the resort rules- so many rules lol Natasha was lovely, but her hands were tied to truly accommodate guests because of all their rules; I would say the same for Scheana in the dining area. Everton and David at the bar were great company! The wine was CHEAP- this is not their fault of course. Oh and they did run out of coconut mix for a day and half- that was hilarious given it is a Caribbean island. Room was great, food was great, and grounds were beautiful. I was happy it was a short flight for us because four nights was plenty of time there. I hope the owners re-think things and leverage some of their amazing staff to help this resort reach its full potential.
