First things first, Arturo (World Café breakfast buffet) and Hector (preferred club lounge) are spectacular. They went above and beyond at every chance to make our trip memorable. They should be applauded by management as the kind of employees that a guest would come back for. Now, on to the rest of the review. Food – Typically, when you go to a resort like this, you have a few nights that are duds for dinner. Nothing especially bad, but nothing really great. This resort didn’t disappoint at dinner at all. We had amazing sea bass at BlueWater Grill. Himitsu served us wonderful sushi on more than one night. Even though the overall sushi selection was less than we usually see, we’re putting that down to COVID, and the options we did select were delicious. Mi Lucrecia had delicious soups and a steak special one night that hit the spot. Oscar Noe Sanchez was our waiter at Portofino both times, and he made us feel like family. Oscar, the manager, also took amazing care of us. We did a special dinner, arranged through him, and he and his team blew us away.  With COVID, the breakfast buffet is lacking in selection. They serve you, to keep everything cleanly, however the choices are limited to eggs, meat, pancakes, and waffles pretty much every day. They do have cold options, like yogurt and fruit in single portion dishes as well. It made me miss the crepe station at Now Jade prior to COVID. If you can handle the same omelet every morning, or some delicious huevos rancheros, you’ll be satisfied. Drinks – the best drinks we’ve ever had at a resort. Hector, in the Preferred Lounge, is a master mixologist. I hope they see his value and offer him a move to a more prestigious property because he’s worth every penny and more. Other drink service was fine. Fernanda and Jesus at the Rooftop bar were a great team. They made sure our drinks were never empty and always were willing to go grab some espresso for our favorite drinks. They make sure you have everything you need. We only went to the main pool twice. Isme was on top of it there as well. She also went out of her way to get us the drinks we liked, which was very appreciated. Pool – The preferred pool is small. They only have about 30 loungers in the covered area (one third of those are reserved for those that purchase a bottle, the other third are like a large, lay-down bed along the back wall). They do have 10 loungers in the pool as well, but those are full sun all day, no shade. This area was open most mornings until about noon, when it picks up and seats definitely start to fill. Pro tip, take care of the staff (Maria is one of the pool concierges and she made it a point to get to know us. Sahid on the other hand, was dismissive. His loss. We tip well.)  Be courteous about how much you actually need a chair. Don’t be a jerk and reserve a pool chair and a covered chair and then never use them. It’s a small space, it’ll be noticed by the other guests. Play nice with your fellow vacationers. GOLF – the golf at Puerto Cancun was good, but SUPER WINDY while we were there. Enough that it made the course very challenging. The transportation is a little different for this course. A golf cart will pick you up at a little hut next to the hole that runs along the hotel (hole 14). We missed our tee time because one day the cart picking us up was almost 30 minutes late. We still got to go off, but it was frustrating. Also, we learned that you have access to play at Playa Mujeres golf course. It isn’t really advertised, but the concierge can set it up for you. It’s about $45 more, and did include transportation. Spa – Elizabeth and Alejandro were both amazing. The spa is beautiful, no complaints. Entertainment – we didn’t really take advantage of the entertainment team at this resort. They don’t seem to come and recruit people at the rooftop pool, which is primarily where we hung out. That said, Costka is the surf instructor and I adore him. He is patient with the kids, makes sure they have a good time, and with the adults – he’s hilarious. I wish the adult wave pool wasn’t broken while we were there, because I would have loved to try it more than the one time.    Negative experiences – 1) So, they can’t control the weather, but that said – the week we were there in February had high winds. So much so that dressing nicely for dinner was pointless. So much wind that they couldn’t have pool umbrellas out. It was very unfortunate because some in our group are especially pasty and need the shade at the pool. Any day we had kids with us we had to be at the main pool, which is not heated and quite chilly, with no shade.  2) We booked a Preferred Corner Suite, expecting the view that is on their website. Now, usually I’m not a view snob, but this one mattered to me. When we checked in, our room was on the back side of the hotel, as was the other corner suite booked by our group. All of them are on the far west side, furthest from the ocean. So you have one window pane that does look out over the golf course and can see the ocean, but one wall of windows looks out over the jungle and other structures. Small note for some, but for me, I was frustrated that the view they show on their webpage isn’t even possible in that particular room category. If you book this room expecting a full ocean view, it won’t happen.  3) Preferred check in was slow, even though it was after check in time. We sat comfortably in the preferred lounge for over 45 minutes while they had our passports, etc. It was just way too long after a day of flying. Check in, for guests that have been to these properties before, and whose rooms are clean and ready, shouldn’t take that long.  We'd come back to this property, and would love to see it post-COVID.

Let's start off by saying we were suppose to stay at Dreams Puerto Adventures and were moved to this resort 1 week before departure. The staff and food were excellent. Rico Suave and Miguel want to give a special shoutout to Luis Alberto Jimenez and Kenny (the butcher) two fantastic bartenders and server Ismerai. Breakfast at the World Cafe was excellente. All of the servers, Manager Lidia, Cesar, Juan, Raymundo, Irving, Arturo, Gisell, Berenice, Dania, and Diogenese were a pleasure to start the day. Tell Erik, Henry, Berenice, and Jessica that Mr. Delicioso and Miguel say hi. And last but not least, a very special shoutout to Sahid. What a pleasure to get to know you. When you make your first million with MEXICAN WATER remember who gave you the idea. We already miss you guys and wish you all nothing but the best. It was an excellent vacation and beautiful resort! All the best Mike (Miguel), Cary (Rico), Susie, Terri, Dave, and Patty

Here are my observations: The Good: - The sit down restaurants were good. Service was good, food was good. - Easy to get around, simple layout. - The preferred club upgrades were worth while. (best drinks in those bars 9th and rooftop) - Great kids play area and kid's zone. - Rooftop adults pool is great...and warm. - Staff was very friendly. The Bad: - Seems like it was built with cheap materials. (Quite a bit of wear and tear after only a few months being open). Thin walls, doors, bad sound proofing - Inconsistent lunch and drink experience. One day fast and good drinks, the next slow, cold food and bad drinks. - If you choose for the "vacation club" pitch it will take 2.5-3 hours (not the 90 mins they promise) You don't have to do the pitch. - Beach is just so-so and small I worry about how well this hotel with stay looking good as time goes on. Going now while new is ok. In a year or two, who knows? I would go back here if a smoking deal. If equivalent to others in price, I would stay somewhere else. Just my 2 cents.

We just went for a second time to this resort, family vacation with my husband and my 2 kids, 6 and 7 years... we were amazed at the beginning having the check in in the Preferred Club. The views from this resort are just incredible, I think these might be the best Views in Cancún. Everything is brand new and love the decor from all the areas. We had such a surprise leaving the kids in the Explorers Club, they both know a lot of Kids Clubs from several resorts but never stayed for more than an hour in any of them... In this stay everything changed, they never wanted to leave... they wanted to take lunch and dinner with the explorer’s club, they loved the activities, and the area is amazing, I had the opportunity to see it from inside and it is beautiful. the entire team always welcomed them with so much joy that day after day they just wanted to do activities with them, as they take the kids to the waterpark and to the pool area. Of course, it is amazing to be able to enjoy the rooftop area as it is adults only by leaving the kids in the Kids club. we could take some amazing unique photos in the morning and enjoy some time as couple while the kids were having a lot of fun, they give you a beeper so if the kids want to leave, they let you know and you are not worried all time. The rooms.... The Views are just amazing... also uploaded some photos... amazing overview of the golf course, the pool, and the ocean... just Amazing! Now my kids ask very often when we will come back, and I am sure it will be very soon.

My husband and I just came back from an amazing vacation in Dreams Vista. We were there for 8 days and 7 nights Preferred Ocean view King room. I will start with the positives — Arrival: when we arrived we were received by champagne and hand sanitizer. They took our bags immediately to get them sanitized and Vanessa from VIP services took us to the preferred lounge (9th floor) and check in desk. The room was ready. The gave us information about the hotel, maps, etc. We were also scheduled right then and there for our COVID test. Very seamless. The VIP rep asked if were wanted to go to a breakfast to get more information about the Unlimited Vacation Club. We declined there and we were never bothered again. We also had some snacks and then headed to our room. Room: 1404B was great; close the elevators but far enough the noise will not bother. I had made a comment we were celebrating my husbands birthday and our honeymoon and they had the Birthday banner on the door; they also had a banner over the bed and some champagne and fruit. The bags were not in the room when we got there but I called and they got them to the room right away. We didn’t had the robe or slippers either but I asked at the preferred desk the next day and get got them immediately. (Robes are super cozy) The room was clean. They provided a seal bag with hand sanitizer, soap and other toiletries. The view was amazing! Erika in housekeeping did a great job of maintaining the room clean, towels and beverages stoked. Restaurants: not all restaurants were opened every night. That is typically the case in most resorts even more now with COVID. However we were able to eat in all restaurants at least once or even more. We really didn’t had a bad meal. The buffet was only opened for breakfast and lunch. There was a buffet style dinner offered one night because it was themed for Mardi Gras. The sitting area we not in the buffet but outside and near the ballrooms. I thought the breakfast and lunch selections were ok. Italian: the risotto is a must! Oscar the manager is extremely attentive. Servers Oscar and Abraham were great. Pedro the sommelier is very knowledgeable and always available in case you want a bottle of wine. I think the chicken Parmesan was our favorite. My husband really liked the tiramisu as well. Mexican: the food was good but it didn’t really feel like Mexican food. Portions were really big - I liked the chef special shrimp and green rice. We liked the tortilla soup. Japanese: the hibachi table food was good and what you typically get in that environment. The best was the fried ice cream. The only complaint would be the chef was not much of an entertainer - we heard from other guests it depends on who you get for the dinner. I also had sushi and thought it was very well made and tasty. My husband had the catch of the day, grouper, it was very good. Blue grill: is in the roof top. Totally worth it just for the views. The steak and seafood we had there was very good. The night we went they had a musician outside which made it more lively. Overall the food and the service in all restaurants were great. Breakfast is the only one that was a bit slow. We had room service for breakfast. Loved that you can pre order the day before. They were always on time. Shoutout to Diego - he seems to work all the restaurants. Always attentive and making sure you are taken care of. Bars and service: Rooftop preferred (day) : this is were we spent must if our days. It is really and oasis and makes being preferred worth it. From the moment you arrive Maria received your with a smile. She is super nice and will help get you a spot in the area. If there isn’t a spot she will help you out and give you options. Jesus and Fernanda are the servers in the pool area. I can’t say enough good things about them. They are friendly and very good at their jobs. You will not be thirsty in the pool because they are always checking up on you and will even remember what you like. You can also order food for lunch with them - they will let you know when it arrives. Best service. At night - go see Kenny. In my opinion he is the best bartender in the hotel. He makes great drinks - his specialty the black spicy margarita, he is fun to talk to as well. Honestly you want something but not sure in specifics he will figure it out. Preferred lounge: wasn’t very busy for the most part. They have some food but never ate much there. We mostly went in the afternoons or night and saw Hector there. Another great bartender. Makes amazing espresso martinis but also some unique drinks like jalapeño cucumber margaritas and el delicioso. If you don’t know what to drink just tell him to make you something special you won’t be disappointed. Lobby bar - shout out to Jose and Claudio. We were always treated great by them and good drinks. Sports bar - Omar Didn’t spent much time in the main pool but Jose was a very good server and the bartenders remembered us even when we may have just gone once or twice. Ivan is one of the bar supervisors we saw quite a bit. He is super hard working. I matter the bar if he needs to he makes drinks or helps clean up. Sings of a great leader. Berenice and her entertainment team were always around. We didn’t see them much during the day as they are in the main pool. The times we saw them at night they were friendly and trying to get people involved. There are views frown everywhere you look in this hotel. There are not really a lot of negatives for the hotel. But some areas for improvement: - I wish the music in the preferred pool area was different. Honestly the music in the pool downstairs is way better. Or even if it changed it would be great. - There weren’t many shows or things at night. I mostly think it is because of COVID. - It would be great if rooms had more hooks or places to hang towels and/or wet clothes. There is not a lot of places to do so and the balcony is a no no since it is so windy. - Radio or speaker in the rooms would be nice too. - Preferred pool area is a little small. You won’t always find a spot to sit. Keep in mind this is during COVID. Hotel was only at around 40% capacity. I would totally recommend this hotel!
