Great service, ask for Tara

My husband and I are in town on vacation and stopped into the Naughty Mermaid for cocktails and apps. We ended up staying for dinner because of the great experience with our server, Tara. She was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks, she convinced us to stay for dinner. We really enjoyed our evening and will be returning again before we leave and requesting her! Thanks again
Poor value and loud music late into the night

At the ridiculous rates this place charges the $30 resort fee is just a slap in the face for very little perks and nothing that makes it feel any different than a typical hotel. While the rooms are in decent shape (with a nice covered balcony) what they don't tell you is they host obnoxiously loud parties at the next door event center that plays music late into the night that basically is blaring into most of the rooms. Was a wedding when I was here, and typical wedding music that is great for the people at the wedding, not great for people trying to relax at the resort. It's 9:30pm and the music is still playing, I can only hope they cut it out at a reasonable time. Note the resort fee gives you access to several pools -- which isn't bad -- but all the pools are outside. So if the weather isn't that warm they are basically useless, and there's really nothing you get for the resort fee. I will say that the Internet speed is pretty fast (for everyone, there's no different 'enhanced' Internet available) and there are pretty big flat screen TVs in the room. If there wasn't a resort fee, or if there were actual value for the resort fee (the 'free drinks' are ridiculous since it requires you to eat at their overpriced restaurant) I'd say this would be a four star, but hotels that charge these bogus fees should either provide value or take the hit in their rating.
Worst service I’ve ever had at a Marriott property

I had a reservation for months and when I arrived they informed me they gave my suite away. I’m a family of five showing up with a confirmed reservation and they split my kids and I up in two rooms upon arrival. Rude, rude, rude. I’ve been a titanium member for years and never been treated this way and trust me- they do not care. Not the manager, the front desk or anybody working there. Please choose pretty much any other Marriott on the west coast. After years and years of loyalty to Marriott this is the kind of hotel experience that makes you want to switch chains.
Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed this hotel. We had a one bedroom suite that had a beautiful view overlooking the river. Sunrises were amazing. Use the recreation center pools - so much more seating and space that the little pool at the hotel. We enjoyed walking around the marina and back and forth to the other pools. The landscaping is immaculate. Not many restaurant choice on site though. We would definitely return.
Great getaway from the cold

Left Dallas when the freeze hit and spent a week at the resort. Was wonderful and a great way to relax in the sun by the pool. Staff was really friendly and we had a great room. It was very clean and everything was perfect during our stay. Looking forward to returning.
