Checking in was very easy. Because of the pandemic, there wasn't as many people staying in the hotel, so I got a nice upgrade to a king room with a partial ocean view. NICE INDEED!! The rooms is very nice with a nice big bed with soft high thread count sheets, and pillows like soft clouds. The view from my lanai (balcony) was beautiful! Partial ocean view means part ocean, part land, and part mountains. Best of everything!! It was so nice to have a cup of tea (there's a single cup coffee maker), with my munchies as I watched everything from full moons to rainbows on that lanai. The room has a fridge, and a safe which is great. The shower was lukewarm at best when I first arrived, but that seemed to improve as the week went on. The shower has a detachable shower head, and hanging clothes line. Housekeeping is only done upon request with a 24 hour notice. The gym on the 2nd floor was VERY nice. Because of social distancing, only 5 people are allowed at the time, and you have to sign up and get a key from the front desk. My favorite part of this hotel, besides the friendly staff, was their activities. I signed up for their hula, ukulele, and lei making class. Twice a week is their hula class. Kamaile is EXCELLENT!! I say this because you won't be learning a cheesy touristy hula (i.e. "Little Grass Shack" or "Tiny Bubbles") You'll learn a real hula from a dancer who's mastered her craft. She's the real deal. Her hula comes from the heart. I've had previous hula experience, on the 2nd day, when no other newbies showed up, she was able to share some more advanced dance technique with me. So grateful to learn more! So as you can see, all levels are welcome. Same with the ukulele class. Once again, I have some ukulele experience, but Jeff was so knowledgeable, that he's good with beginners (he was even able to tune a ukulele for a left-handed beginner), and was even able to show me a new "plucking" strumming technique. Wow!! Yes, because of his experience, all levels are welcome. He was even able to play a popular Hawaiian song for me as I danced. Good times!! The lei making class was held across the street at the Moana Surfrider. It's outside, and because of social distancing, we each had to have our own table. I wanted to cry when I left my beautiful room. I was able to book a shuttle to the airport at the activities desk. This very ideal location (beach is just across the street), and very walkable for shopping, dining, and beach. Very fond memories of this hotel. I cannot wait to come back!!!!
Nice but would choose different next time.

We just recently stayed there for a week. The hotel is located across the street from the ocean but have rooms that are considered to be ocean view if you lean over the side of the deck. The rooms are fairly small but I didn't come to Hawaii to sit in a hotel room either. Our party was a little concerned when we first got there because we found hairs in the shower and toe nail clippings on the floor so we were concerned about the cleanliness of our rooms. The front desk had them re-cleaned and so we felt better about that. Due to covid the hotel had closed the bar and any place to eat inside of the hotel. they did have a little stand up beside the pool where you could get a few pastries at breakfast but that was about it. I have no complaints about the staff they were very friendly and accommodating. We had the pleasure of meeting the general manager of this hotel. he was a very nice gentleman and went out of his way to make us feel welcome and even took us across the street to tour his other hotel which in hindsight 20/20 I wish we would have stayed.. All in all it wasn't that bad and it is in the heart of the Waikiki Beach area and just a short walk from all the restaurants and shops so if the price is right I wouldn't pass it over.
Great location, needs updating.

This is a good hotel but old. The location is great. In the middle of the “happening” area of town. Waikiki beach is right across the street, very easy access. Lots of food options. Carpets need changing, rooms need to be updated. Just overall updating needed. That being said, it’s comfortable and convenient with a very helpful and friendly staff.

This is an older hotel that has had very little in the way of updating except around the lobby area. We live on island and made a reservation bc it was a good way to use up free nights when we otherwise cannot travel thanks to COVID. Well, I wouldn’t do it again. We ended up using 2 free nights and cancelling the rest of our stay bc we just couldn’t make 2 double beds in an already small and dingy room work. We actually slept at home the second night. There were so many odd things that stand out as unappealing that I’m curious how this place is so packed when we aren’t in a pandemic. The room felt dirty and the walls actually were in our room. The bathroom felt depressing and small. Our family of 4 (2 preteens included) felt like giants in the tiny beds in the tiny room.
