AMAZING Kid-Friendly resort

10/10 stay at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas! This was a beautiful resort, with all amenities as pictured. It was exactly what our family of 3 needed for this trip: all the amenities of a resort, but with the comfort of our own apartment and kitchen. I was a little hesitant to book this spot after seeing all the negative review on TripAdvisor, but reminded myself that usually its the unhappy guests that will complain online, hence why I am taking the time to write this positive review! The grounds are beautiful, pools are amazing with excellent pools for the little ones. The views of the ocean were incredible, and we saw at least 10+ whales from our balcony daily. The beach is steps away from the resort, and is great for snorkeling. We used the grills on the property on most evenings, and on the other nights we went to the nearby restaurants within walking distance (recommend Dukes!). Several online reviews complained about the view. We booked an ocean view, which as several reviews mention, means even a sliver of blue counts. Our original room would not have had a good view (back corner, 2nd floor), but on checkin we simply asked for a room with a better view, and Sabrina at the front desk accommodated! We were right by the ocean front rooms. An added bonus is you also have access to the pools/restaurants at the newer next-door Westin Nanea, which in my opinion has a better kiddie pool. We were very happy with our stay and recommend this resort highly!
Horrible customer service

This is our 6th year at the Westin Villas. We have stayed in various rooms throughout the north and south properties. I have had 5 surgeries on both of my knees with painful arthritis as a result. I called a week prior to our visit to request a ground floor unit. We arrive and we are 5th floor literally the farthest we could be from anything. I went to the front desk and they said the could move us mid visit a little closer but not really. I am so disappointed and on top of everything our “hallway” to our room is like a homeless camp full of garbage. Not coming back.
Great Stay

We stayed in a studio in the South Villas and had a great experience. The room was in good condition and had a separate jacuzzi tub from the rainfall shower. We had a balcony that had a great view of the ocean and pool area. Watching the sunset right in front of the property was beautiful and made for great whale watching!! We arrived right at checkin time so it was very busy but the bellmen handled the crowd well. They had plenty of bell carts to unload everyone. They have bins to put grocery or fragile items in since most people bring groceries. There are plenty of grills throughout the property. They had a free cultural show in the lawn area that we were about to catch before going to our room. They have a show every Saturday showcasing music and performances. We had a rental car but the resort has a free shuttle, many activities, local vendors, and a market sets up close to the beach on Tuesdays. The shuttle takes you to Lahaina Cannery, an enclosed shopping area that just reopened in March 18, and Whaler's Village, an open air shopping mall with great dining right on the beach. Parking at the Village is limited but only about $8/hr and most restaurants will provide 2 hours of free parking. You will have beach access to enjoy at Whaler's Village There is great snorkeling right on the beach at the resort and access to the beach walk path trail. The pool was open until 10 pm but the hot tubs are open 24/7.
Magical facial at Spa Helani
LadyLustica (Seattle, Washington) on Mar 13, 2024
I went to Spa Helani and saw Suji, she made me feel magical and completely got rid of my Roceaca. I recommend the organic facial, everything smelled heavily and made my skin feel so soft and healthy. They also have a steam room you can use but it's very hot! I loved my experience and felt so special.
Avoid pool services/cabana services
Meg K on Feb 21, 2024
I rented, and paid for, a cabana for the afternoon today. Within an hour of arriving, I was kicked out because I am not a guest of the Westin. Apparently, they now require that anyone who rents beach chairs, cabanas, our pool services either be a guest of the hotel or purchase a resort pass. That is not communicated anywhere on the property, nor was it something the employees had much knowledge of. I stayed at this resort pre-Covid and rented a cabana successfully during my previous stay. At that time, all they cared about was getting paid - they rented cabanas out to anyone who would pay, regardless of hotel guest status. This is the same model most other resorts in Hawaii use as well. While the resort is beautiful, this was such a bad customer service experience. Why was I allowed to rent a cabana, and get all the way to using it, before learning that they'd changed their policy on renting to non-guests? It seems quite short-sighted. There were TONS of empty cabanas today, so I'd think a business would be more interested in earning money than being selective about who it accepts money from. Likewise, the customer service left much to be desired - we encountered some employees who were surly and hostile toward guests, some that were just apathetic and disinterested in serving their customers, and some who, while trying to be helpful, were unfamiliar with the rules/policies the resort set for its business and unable to answer basic questions. I arrived today gushing over how beautiful the property is, and deciding that it would be where I'd stay for all future visits. When I left, I was determined to never visit again because of this stupid policy change and their incredibly poor handling of it.
