The hotel manager has fired a significant number of staff, who while doing their best, simply can’t fulfill expectations to the quality expected. Food is regular, and in some cases just plain bad. The Italian restaurant is absolutely terrible in service and food quality. One does not expect to have to do long lines to ask for a drink and to just have one bar available and no alcoholic drinks available to order at the restaurant. They don’t even provide hand towels unless requested. The music throughout the hotel is loud and far from relaxing. Me and my family will never go again. And I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, specially if you care about how they treat their staff!

Average Stay, Many pros and cons

For starters, this was my first time staying at an all inclusive resort. I was traveling with families with children and they felt it would be best to have everything there (the bar crew laughed when I tried to hand my card to them to pay for drinks!). I will start with the pros: The views from the beach are truly priceless! The more private secluded end of the beach really made the time relaxing more enjoyable as there were not a ton of people trying to walk up to you and sell you something every 5 minutes. The sunsets at night were amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful in all areas of the hotel and receptive to any requests. Plus, it was nice they helped with your spanish if you're trying to practice. They also set up covid tests exactly when we needed it prior to our departure. The pool was huge and they also always had open chairs. Cons: The rooms were okay. Our first night we got there we didn't have pillowcases on the pillows and you could see the stains. I am sure it was an oversight but definitely sort of grossed us out. There was no mat for the shower which isn't a huge deal but since there is a half glass door the water would get outside and it's not fun to step on super wet floors. I did have to ask for extra towels but they were receptive to getting them to the room quickly. One of the biggest issues for me was the wifi. I know Costa Rica is vacation and Pura Vida but I was under the impression wifi would be accessible and I had work I needed to attend to and was unable to access any of my work. At best there was one area in the lobby that sometimes got internet but do not expect to get in the rooms. The cafeteria was pretty decent some of the food was spectacular and others not in particular the snack bar at the pool was just not good. I did appreciate the level of attention to covid precautions and security they had at the hotel. I think if you are looking to just stay in one place and have it all there this is your place but there were nights it was much better to go into town and experience the Tamarindo scene which was easy for us since we had a car. I really would have preferred to give 3.5 stars but it wouldn't let me. I say this because staying here is not a total no go for me ever again but I probably might go somewhere else but I would miss the convenience of the all inclusive buffet. Also just an FYI if you book adventures through the hotel its about 30% at least price increase and you can just go into town and get a better deal.

We loved this hotel for the price. It was much nicer than we expected based on the negative reviews i'd read. It costs $90 to get a taxi there from Liberia airport. Downtown is 2 km. away and a taxi costs $5. The beach is beautiful and just steps away from the pool area. It's a great beach for surfing. Waves might be too big for little kids. Tip: book Japanese and Italian restuarant the minute you get your room numbers. We weren't able to book either because they were so booked already and we only stayed 3 days. The food in the regular restuarant is good and fresh. You can get snacks and drinks on the beach too that are good. We never had long lines for the restuarant or snack bar. The room was comfortable with 2 queen beds, and included a mini fridge. You can get covid tested at the airport for $65 to return to the US. You can make an appt. but it isn't necessary. Bring lots of cash if from US. US dollars are accepted everywhere. We were able to get great massages downtown for $40 with no appointment.

First of all if you are Bilingual you get extra Kudos all over the world! since it pays to know at least a little bit of the language of the country that you visit! We met Juan Martinez and Carlos Granados at all inclusive Ocxidental Tamarindo in costa Rica and if weren't for them our drinks here and the service next to the beach and pool would have definitely been mediocre, however both of these guys made our entire pool and beach experience here worth it!

Horrible Don't waste your money here

Booked over 1 year ago. Booked the Master Suite. Was told 1 week prior to arrival that there was construction so we were being downgraded with only a $40/ day credit. Real reason was there was a production crew there and they were given out suite. The buffet was horrible. Nothing healthy to eat. Restaurant workers were rude and distracted. Had to go to the lobby 4 out of 8 days to request towels because they didn't give us any when they half azz cleaned the room. Didn't change the linens on the bed everyday. I would never stay in this hotel again.
