The staff is great. Christian, Thania??, Merari have been grateful. Very helpful. Very fun. The food was amazing and the entertainment was on point. I'd recommend- 10/10. Gret place overall and a very fun week. Merari is also a shark at ping pong.

Very disapppinted

cheeylr on Apr 10, 2024

The resort is old . Very dated. It does not look anything like the photos on their website. The beach is black and muddy. You have to get a shuttle with a bunch of other guests to get most anywhere on the property. If you pay for preferred you cannot get your preferred drinks by the pool. You have to get a shuttle or walk to the preferred club ( which is more than a hike ) if you choose to use the relaxation pool. The pool with the swim up bar which is closest to the preferred club is small and overcrowded. On a positive note , the staff is great. Very helpful, friendly and polite.

Horrible

Cheryl R on Apr 09, 2024

If you are looking for a romantic relaxing get away this is NOT the place . Even if you pay for preferred club . Go somewhere else ! The pools are small. There are not enough chairs for guests. Iguanas are found in your bed . If you are preferred club you cannot get drink service by the pool . You have to get in a van ( which takes awhile ) to go the preferred club to get your own drinks . The sand on the beach is a muddy and black. So the pictures are false advertising . I would never in a million years spend my hard earned money to come here again .

First all inclusive, pretty good, skip the time share speech. Enjoy the beach!

We had a good time here. The beach felt like it was your own. Not crowded. We did some snorkeling there were a ton of tiny fish a few decent sized ones and a few Puffer Fish. Calm water excellent for people that are not strong swimmers. The staff was mostly friendly and helpful all around the property. We tried most of the restaurants on site. Agua we had lunch and it has a small menu and the food was decent. Great service in and in the quiet area of the resort Seaside Grill the best thing we had there was the Charred Salad. It was delicious and we wished we would have had it again. Also had a New York Steak and Seabass dinner. Fish was ok and the steak was pretty decent. Friendly staff and food came out quick. Sugar Reef has a good feel to it. It is pretty chill to hang out on the lower bar area where the pool table is and they have swinging chairs that are nice to relax on and have a beverage with a great view. Portofino we had probably our best meal at our time here. We had a salad for an appetizer and it was excellent also I think it was a Goat Cheese Ravioli and White Bass dinner which were both excellent with great presentation. Himitsu is a must have if you are staying for more than a couple days. The Hibachi show is very entertaining and the food was excellent. Come with a huge appetite because they will give you a ton of food. Market Cafe is where you get your buffet breakfast and lunch. The Breakfast is pretty decent with a good section. We were satisfied with it for the first two days the third was ok and by the fourth it was getting a little tired. The Lunch was nothing to write about. Bars and beverages. The drinks were ok but tasted very sugary and light on the alcohol. You could drink all day and still be ready for more. We never had a dessert on the trip due to how sugary the drinks were we did not have any sugar craving. The spa is a nice setting but I would not recommend the massages. They just were not that good. The Hotel grounds were Beautiful. They were very well taken care of and there was so much to see. Lizards, birds, Coati's and even a local skunk were all seen when we were there. There are many hills and depending on where your room was you might have a hike to get there. They do have shuttles that will pick you up and drop you off anywhere on the property. The room was very nice. Ours was very private and clean. The only complaint we had was the with a name like Secrets the only thing that was not a secret was what was going on in the bathroom. It has a glass door to the toilet and no privacy when you are using it. Other than that the room was great. Lastly. Hyatt Loyalty Program presentation is something you should skip all together. IT IS A TIME SHARE PRESENTATION!. They say it is no pressure and all you have to do is sit through this 90 minute presentation to get either a Romantic Dinner, Rides on Jet Ski's or a Couples Massage with no pressure to sign up. Sounds like a Time Share Presentation? Yup. It is. Almost word for word on the last time share presentation I sat through. Same tactics. Hyatt used to do a time share presentation and it looks like they saved the notes. Let me write numbers on this piece of paper to show you how much we value you as a Loyalty member. How much you can save by being a member on your next trip. Look at all these locations you can go to and save. Let. us show you how good a deal this is for you. Yada, Yada, Yada. Then they rotate the Closer in and they say the same stuff as the first person. When you tell them you are not interested they act like this is the first time they have been turned down and they do get mad. But don't worry. It is a no pressure presentation.

30th Anniversary Trip

Melissa K on Apr 08, 2024

Thirtieth Anniversary Trip. Loved the size of the resort. We loved the solitude that could easily be found. We had no problem with getting up at 6am to enjoy the beautiful morning weather and getting a perfect spot near the pool with an umbrella. Was so glad we upgraded for preferred room with a view. I could shower in the rain shower with a view forever! It was close enough to walk back and forth without having to get a shuttle. Read past reviews, they helped me a lot with tricks and tips. Our waiter, Yesner at the Seaside Grill was top knotch ! Spent three evenings with him and the last one he planned a surprise, private Anniversay dinner for us! Every employee we encountered was so pleasant and helpful. If you are about big night life , this may not be the place for you. They did have activities, but with simple quiet crowds which we loved. Loved the safety of the resort, being able to explore the beach and rocks in both directions at low tide was awesome. Costa Rica, the place where all my loves in life - woods, rocks, beach, ocean and my husband all collided !!!
