I have been to Sandos Finisterra twice now - both for girls trips. The first time we stayed I was blown away by the beauty of the resort. The place was clean, the food was delicious and OH MY we had our own private beach with no one hassling us to buy anything. Then I met the staff. This is where I really fell in love. From bartenders Wendy & Francisco at the front bar, to Luis at the Whale Watchers bar, to Carlos serving us drinks by the pool and Wendy & Johan working the events by the pool...I just can't say enough. Everyone was SO friendly and kind. They made it a point to learn our names and what we liked to drink. Every single staff member that I met went above and beyond. This is what will keep me coming back year after year. If you have not been to Sandos Finisterra, you need to go! You'll understand why I will never go anywhere else.

For months I have been stalking this resort in preparation for our annual work retreat. Their social media made it seem like we were in for the times of our lives. Sadly, our group of 40 left with disappointment. I wish we had the experience that other reviewers had. The rooms are old, dingy and in much need of an update. The furniture is so old and wonky and the sleeper sofa looked so dirty that we did not even place our clothing on it. Upon check-in we found 5 men’s t-shirts in one of the dresser drawers, our tv did not work and eventually had to be replaced, we had to call down several times (because they would not answer) to request a room service menu. The bathrooms were gross, toilet was so loud when flushed we were embarrassed to use it at night so as to not wake up our whole floor. Pools are nice but cold, the hot tubs were not working properly and our requests for help fell on deaf ears. Service was sub-par and the food was blah. I was excited to eat great authentic food but it was very disappointing. Instagram makes it seems like they have so many fun activities going on but in all 4 days that we were there, all I saw was one water aerobics class and then a 30 minute Instagram picture contest. Not at all what I expected, maybe they just hated us or maybe it just felt that way. The elevators were super sketchy and frankly, scary to use. On our last morning, we happened to get into the elevator with a couple who were getting the Timeshare tour. The woman conducting the tour was telling them how they were FINALLY replacing the elevators since all three of them started breaking down at the same time… the man told her that maybe it was not such a good idea to tell people that while IN the squeaky elevator (the service elevator was boarded up when we were there). She also said that the “old building” (presumably the building I was in) was 30 years old and they were waiting to sell all the timeshare units before updating the old rooms. I have stayed at a Motel 6 that was in better condition. The timeshare section/suites across the bridge look nice but the “old building” which includes the lobby 100% looks 30+ years old. Staff does not know how to handle stressful situations. At breakfast one morning, a child at a table next to use started vomiting at the table. A waiter walked past her as he was witnessing the situation and started cleaning up the table next to them. The panicking mom asked for help and he pointed her to the bathroom all the while he was backing away from her, no actual help was given to her. In another instance, one particular staff member named Itzel got into a verbal confrontation with a member of our party in front of all the guests at the pool. Our experience was already not going well and Itzel, with her very unprofessional conduct, was really the icing on the top of this horrendous cake. The year prior we stayed at Breathless across the marina and at Secrets Puerto Vallarta twice in the past few years so I suppose we had big expectations. If you are looking for a truly wonderful experience in Cabo stay at Breathless. If you want to be treated like royalty stay at Secrets in Puerto Vallarta. I feel bad for anyone staying in the “old building” because ALL guests deserve so much better while spending their hard earned money and time on vacations. Family and friends always look forward to hearing about our work retreat experience and this year we will be telling them….Sandos Finisterra…yeah don’t go there.

What more can I say about a hotel we frequent about 3 times a year? We've never looked back from becoming RE members in 2013. The hotel is beautifully maintained and the views never get old! Upon greetings by Jorge and Alvaro , Francisco (at the lobby bar), the RE staff continue to deliver excellent service and always deliver our requests. Big thanks to our amazing friend Teresa and Oswaldo and Bernie too. Our old friend Ish always does an exceptional job at the VIP pool .Thanks for the Sauv. blanc! The mornings begin with a latte from Abel at the Cupcake Cafe. Glad to hear you're getting a new machine. It's a busy place! We miss breakfast at Emilliano's, but the eggs benny at Tortuga are still great, as are the dinner/lunch selections. Gustavo and Jimmy continue to be awesome there. The food at Emilliano's is always very good! Thank you Nestor (chef) and Filimon. We had an amazing tenderloin at Agave and I appreciate the red wine sauce? (i think) with my steaks too! My only suggestion would be a few new items on all of the menus. Great to see old friend Javiar and Arturo and Elizabeth is always so friendly too. We have breakfast sometimes at Don Diego, which has a good variety of choices. But the dinner choices could use more variety...maybe some special nights? The staff is great there with Ray, Pedro, Norman, Paul and many more... and of course Ritchie. Thanks for my special mimosas! We spend most time at the 3rd pool and Gabriel and Carlos(so efficient !), were great as our servers. And Norma always pops by for a hug and checks on us! So sweet! Michael Jackson is still the best night for entertainment (even after 14 or so performances- ha). Thank you David, at the bar. The Whale Watcher bar is till a fave for a drink before dinner. The Stones Club is a must (at least once for us older folks) but miss the energy from Levi at the bar. Finally, thanks to Nicki and Sergio for maintaining such a top notch resort and also listening to the guests and making them feel at home! I can't mention everyone, but it's the efforts of so many that make this a great resort! See you all again in January! Hugs, Pat and Shannon????

We have been doing annual company trips with appx 40 people every year since 2011. We have stayed at Secrets multiple times and Breathless. And we have all written amazing reviews after our return. This will be my first time writing a negative review after a company trip because it was beyond horrendous! As the group organizer, I was mortified and embarrassed. Let me break it down: -We asked to speak to Manager several times during our stay and no manager ever showed up. Maybe if I actually spoke to a manager, I wouldn’t have had to write this review. -The service was worse than terrible, it was non-existent. -They had no water bottles at the resort. -Only 1 functioning elevator that took forever and it was always occupied by hotel cleaning staff or was used for service so we were crammed in a dirty tiny elevator with trash bins and housekeeping trash. -Room service took so long that you would forget you even ordered by the time the food came. -Called 3 times to have someone pick up after room service and literally NO ONE ever came! -Pool water is freezing. -Drinks were the cheapest most disgusting drinks ever. We had to walk to town to actually buy liquor that will not give us alcohol poisoning. -The staff treated the guests like we were a burden. Anytime you asked for food or a drink, they looked annoyed. -Dinner's at a-la-carte took so long to come we had to leave and go to the buffet. -One night at the Italian restaurant at 9 pm dinner, they told us they ran out of food, and only a few items left. -WIFI SUCKED -I was trying to call the front desk to tell them my safe was broken, and no one would answer the front desk. The phone literally just rings and rings and rings.... and no one picks up. -We had 1 day of rain, so when we called to have room service to our room, they said they are closed because of rain. That was almost comical. The only reason, I gave it a 2 star instead of 0 is because there were some good points too just to be fair... and here they are: - None of us died of food poisoning, so that’s good. -The staff that helped me organize and book the rooms, were nice. -Since I was the group organizer, they did upgrade my room to a 2 bedroom suite, which really came in handy, because one of the rooms we had, the AC unit was broken and as usual no one answer the front desk and when they finally did answer they always say we will be right up, and literally no one ever showed up so they all just moved into our room. So, thank you for the upgrade, it really came handy! If you are looking for a solid 3 start resort and don't care about being served (like literally anything) then this is a good place, because the grounds were nice and nice views.
