Stayed at this gorgeous hotel with my “teen” (age 13), “tween” (age 11) and sister, 3/12 - 3/15. (We checked out the VERY DAY the parks closed due to COCID-19!) Whoever is able to find fault with this hotel is clearly not-picky! The hotel itself is gorgeous! My sister, who has visited the Amalfi Coast of Italy & Capri said she felt like she was “back in Italy” the moment we arrived! We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 p.m. Staff was friendly & welcoming! We were offered an available room down the end of a long hallway which we decided to pass on (we’ll be walking enough at the Parks! Who wants to hike down a long hallway at the end of the day?!) So, we left our luggage with the luggage valet (don’t forget to tip!) and chose to wait another room was ready. SO glad we did! Room #1134 (East Wing) overlooks the Bay. It was spacious, clean and comfy! BONUS: it has its own little patio with a table & 2 chairs, enclosed by a low wall! My sister & I enjoyed cocktails & the live performances by the Italian singers on the patio each evening while the kids strolled around the bay or watched a movie...so relaxing! The only negative: we weren’t given any wash cloths 2 days in a row...but a quick call to housekeeping fixed that, We enjoyed the hotel pool on arrival day. Poolside service was convenient. The water slide was closed for maintenance but the kids didn’t mind. Cabanas (with dedicated wait staff, fan, TV, etc) are available for rent for $250.00 per day. Not bad if you plan to spend the day languishing by the pool after 2-3 days exploring the Parks. Speaking of Parks: Express Passes, the best things since sliced bread, are included with your stay at Porto Fino! ($85.00 each if purchased separately!). Separate Express Pass lines on all ride & attractions; no long waits! Express Passes not available at Volcano Bay but, as a guest of the Porto Fino, you enter ALL 3 PARKS 1-hour early!! So, grab a chaise, drop (or lock up) your stuff and RUN to your favorite ride or slide before the throngs arrive! Although the Porto Fino is the furthest hotel from the Parks, access is easy: You can walk, take the Water Taxi or take a “bike taxi”: Kids & I were taken by bike taxi to Universal! Nice ride and a great way to see the other hotels & landscaping. (If you choose this option, there’s no fee; bikers work for tips, so please be generous!) Crowds were large but manageable, considering the onset of COVID-19. All hotels & parks really stepped up their game in terms of additional safety and sanitary precautions. (Side point: my family & I self-quarantined for 2-weeks after our return from Universal. Happy to report that we are all healthy & doing well!) Nice restaurants on site; we ate at Mama Della’s the night before our departure. The calamari was delicious...just wish the portion was a little bigger...The salmon & shrimp with pappardelle was amazing! My sister enjoyed the spaghetti & meatballs. Kids meal portions are generous & include a drink & dessert. Wine & beer prices are reasonable. There’s also a Starbucks & a pizzeria with mini mart on site. Be sure to stroll through both gift shops (one off the lobby and one on Bay level) as well as the lovely little Art Gallery. **COMCAST EMPLOYEES: Show your Company I.D. and enjoy a 20% discount nearly everywhere! I won’t use this review to talk about the Parks (although we had a BALL!!!) But, Loews Porto Fino Bay Hotel gets “TWO THUMBS UP!” from my family!! We’re already looking forward to our next stay in 2021!

IGNORE ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. We booked up to stay at the Portofino Bay for 3 weeks (01/03/2020 - 22/03/2020) and I became increasingly concerned as it neared the time of the holiday by the sudden rise in negative reviews (Due to construction work. It never, ever became an inconvenience to us). I was literally worrying over nothing. I received an email a few days before we were due to arrive by Dan, who is the front desk manager (Such a nice guy, I cant thank Dan enough for everything he did for us) asking if there was anything that they could do to ensure our arrival was as smooth and welcoming as possible. When we did arrive, Molly, who was checking us in was amazing! Honestly, I cant speak highly enough of her - so helpful. She covered everything and was just prepared to go above and beyond for us. We paid for the club room, which includes breakfast, dinner and evening treats. Everybody, and I mean everybody who worked in the club room again had amazing service and was so friendly! I need to give a special shout out to Greg though (Who works in the club room). Constantly working, never standing still and always checking on all guests. Fantastic service and incredibly polite. Faith in concierge also deserves a mention. We had some issues during the stay regarding confirmation of a booking to the Kennedy space centre and Faith helped with all phone calls. We even got charged for a phone call we made ourselves to the space centre prior to going to Faith for help, which the hotel sorted for us, meaning we didn't have to pay the whopping $200 charge! The rooms were gorgeous and clean, bathroom was huge and beds were unbeliavbly comfy! The maids got used to the fact I sleep with two pillows and not four which the beds are made as standard, so they always made my bed up with two pillows! We were upgraded to a room which had a balcony overlooking the harbour, and you could even see Rip Ride Rockit, Men in Black and The Simpsons ride from our balcony, and it was still incredibly peaceful. No noise whatsoever despite being so close to the attractions. (We booked two rooms and the balcony linked the two rooms together). Unfortunatly, our stay did end early due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. This meant the theme parks and hotels had to close. The club room did close which meant we were unable to take advantage of the breakfast, meals and evening snacks, however the hotel did provide vouchers to one of the resturants on site to cover the remaining days. The breakfast voucher was valid for the Trattoria del Porto resturant, and the food and service was outstanding. I believe the voucher for dinner was valid at Sals. We got refunded the remianing days left in terms of the car parking on the day of check out, which happened 4 days before the end of the holiday as our orginal flight home on the 22nd got cancelled by Virgin. We were NOT informed of this cancellation by Virgin. Infact, we had absoluetly zero contact from Virgin during the whole holiday. If it wasn't for the hotel informing us Virgin had put us on an earlier flight, we would have missed it. We have stayed at the Hard Rock at Universal previously, and as good as that holiday was, the Portofino Bay tops it. We were really not sure if it could match the Hard Rock, but it does. We will be returning.

Finally stayed at this hotel after multiple stays at Royal Pacific and Hard Rock and really didn’t care for it at all. We had problems at check in where our keys immediately stopped working. Instead of offering us a new room or even immediately correcting the issue we had to wait standing outside the room for over forty minutes to be able to get back in our room. This seemed ridiculous as we were paying over 500$ a night. While express passes are great, this is the farthest deluxe hotel from the park, so you are really stuck taking the water taxis. The lobby and hallways are overly perfumed to the point you can almost taste it on your tongue. Our room was recently refurbished but was incredibly dark and drab. The halls felt cavernous. We went over to the pool and one spa was cold and the other was closed. The pool bar was closed. Nothing seemed to be going on at the hotel our entire stay. Sal’s was the one and only bright spot during our stay. The only way we would stay here again would be if the other two deluxes were completely booked.

Our family with three teens stayed one night to take advantage of the free Express Passes for our day of check in and check out. The room price was less than half the cost of two days of Passes for five people. We moved from a less expensive hotel at 7am and were able to take our luggage right to the room. On checkout we used their luggage service until we left the park that evening. We upgraded to club level which gave us breakfast both days- eggs, pastries, breads, fruit- and dinner one nights Asian fare. Plus snacks and beverages available during the day. The convenience and price were worth it for five people. The water taxi is easy and you go through security at the hotel so bypass the long lines at the park. The room was a bit crowded with a roll away but manageable. It is quiet and comfortable
