When we booked the room, we had read the reviews regarding the property undergoing renovations and were fully prepared for that. The overall stay was fine and the room wasn't terrible but we were disappointed with how the staff responded to a fairly minor issue. First of all, here are the pros of the hotel: Great location Common areas, pool area really nice Free parking Check-in was fast and the gentleman who helped was great! Large selection of tv options including the ability to plug in your own device (Roku) Free wi-fi Large bathtub Close to 7-Eleven (when you need ice, drinks or snacks) Cons Some of the buildings are pretty dated - the carpet and furnishings need to be replaced Building we stayed in wasn't secure - the doors opened regardless if you had a key or not Thin wall - we could hear an entire conversation in our neighbors room To get hot water, you would have to turn the shower and the sinks on and let them run for about 5 minutes - really wasteful Water pressure bad in shower Some of the staff were rude - on Saturday afternoon, around 2:30pm, we wanted to have a drink in our room. We went to the ice machine in our building, but it was out of ice. No big deal - went to the next building over and it was out of ice. A little irritating, but not the end of the world. Went to a third building and no ice there either. Went back to the room and called the front desk to see if we could get room service to drop off some ice (this place charges a Resort Fee of $35/day so didn't think that was a big ask). The front desk lady was a little rude and told us to go to the ice machine on the first floor of our building. We explained that they weren't working and we had tried it at 3 different buildings. She transferred us to room service. We asked room service if we could get some ice brought up - the guy that answered asked someone in the background and she responded with a laugh and said we would have to pay $5 and wait a while. We were told we could also just go to 7-Eleven across the street. They also said they would call maintenance. If we were staying at a motel, I would expect that kind of response. But this place calls itself a "Resort" and customer service should match that. We would've gladly paid the $5 delivery fee for ice, but it was how they responded to the request that disappointed us the most. They can do all the renovations they want and create beautiful rooms, buildings and common areas but if they keep their current staff, I doubt these reviews will get any better.

Not your typical Marriott property ... sorry.

First, let me start by saying I have heard a lot about this hotel as being a "premiere" place to stay in Palm Springs. It is rich with history, has a great location, delightful pool and spa area and the staff are wonderful BUT the facility, especially the rooms, need dire help! We stayed in building 4 and upon our arrival the elevator was broken, the carpets were uneven, the room was not especially cleaned with water that was putrid smelling left in the coffee maker, and amenities were scarce. We had a partial box of tissues and the tiniest of complimentary soaps. Worst of all it is noisy. You can hear everything from the people above you and hallway noise. Oh our disappointment! The best part of the hotel are the fire pit areas and the nice bar area in the front that has room for people to meet, play cards, have a drink, etc. Not what we expected from a place with "resort" in its' name nor of a Marriott property. Sorry, can't recommend until the hotel finishes whatever restorations they seem to be undergoing. Then I would be willing to try again, if for no other reason for the location.

First of all this is not a hotel, it’s an old motel slapped with some paint and Vegas style furniture with mirrors on them to make it look like it has “style” Everything feels like it’s hanging by it’s last thread. Our bed was broken they had to send some guy to fix it. Elevators didn’t work anywhere. One ice machine on the floor on one side if the building. The layout is terrible. Buildings are disconnected form each other and if you’re staying far in the back it’s quite a walk to the front. There stars tops. Wouldn’t pay more then $100 to stay here. To be honest it’s the first and the last visit here. Resort fee? What a joke. Plenty of way better places around to stay for $200 which is what we paid for a night after fees and all.

Probably the worst stay I have ever had

This hotel looks great online but do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. My stay was a disaster from the beginning. We got our keys and made our way to our building. The keys did not work.. so I had to go back and get new keys. We finally enter our room and it is FREEZING. It was raining and 45 degrees outside. It felt like our room was colder than the outside! The heat did not work at all and we called engineering. 2 hours go by and nobody comes up. We also noticed the bathroom door was broken and so were parts of the bathroom like the toilet paper holder. I called down and asked if we can just get a new room. The front desk associate was apologetic and sent keys to a new room up. You would think that is where this ends but it keeps going.. The new room had a broken bed in it. I called down again and asked for them if we can get another room. They said there were no more rooms but that they would send engineering up. The engineer came up and “fixed” the bed. Unfortunately it broke again 5 minutes later. The other bed broke as well. I called again and asked if they can send engineering up again while we were gone for the day. They said no problem. We decided to get dinner at the restaurant where it took over 25 minutes just to get our order and another 30 minutes before the food came. It was not even packed! The steak we ordered was extremely overcooked and rather than request another one and wait another 30 minutes we just sent it back. When we returned it looked like the beds were fixed but after just sitting on it they both broke again. At this point we were tired and frustrated and just slept on the broken beds. We ordered extra blankets that ofcourse never came. Cant say we had a great nights sleep... Looking at other reviews the broken beds seem to be a common issue. Engineering was not really surprised either. The elevators were broken so we had to take the stairs each time. The hallways were extremely dirty as well. The silver lining to the trip was Alex at the restaurant. He was so friendly and embodied great hospitality. Really everyone I encountered at this hotel from the front desk to engineering were great people. There are a lot of good people working there. The property is unfortunately just very run down and maintained poorly. I work in the hotel industry and have stayed in quite a bit of hotels and was by far the worst experience I have had. I wish I had spent a little more or actually even a little less and stayed at a Courtyard. The front desk did waive the resort fee for the bad experience but I cant say it makes up for a ruined vacation.

Everything looks like it's falling apart

Everything looked great by looking at the photos on the Marriott website when I booked the room. But it was all lipstick on a pig. Maybe some of the other buildings were nicer, but not the one we stayed in—building 4. You know how when you are choosing between two options when you are decorating, the cheap one and the expensive one that you really want? Well, they chose the cheap one, EVERY TIME. And most of it is starting to fall apart because of poor upkeep. I'll start with the common areas: The pools--probably the nicest part of our stay. The staff was generally friendly, but not very present. There was always a lot of stuff floating in the pool, leaves, hair, general debris. The pool chairs often had bird poop on them, and would not be cleaned over night. The water is frigid in the front pool and the hot tub looked like soup. The halls of building 4-- They generally look dirty and dingy. There would be trash on the ground, it wouldn't get picked up. It never looked like the hallway was vacuumed for the entirety of our 5 night stay. The staff area near the parking lot door and ice machine smelled like a pot grow room every time we walked by. Literally, you would be overpowered by the smell of fresh cut weed when you walked by. Our room-- 4126 has absolutely the worst bed I have ever had the displeasure of sitting on, let alone attempting to sleep on. The left side of the bed by the wall was so broken down that you had to hold yourself on the bed or you would roll out of it. As I said the photos made the rooms look nice and hip, but they are old, outdated, and really worn down. Maybe they were nice when first put together, but our room was showing major signs of wear and tear. Furniture was scratched, the bed squeaked if you even attempted to roll over, and only half of the lights worked in the bathroom. It was a disaster. I almost, not sure how, forgot to mention the giant cockroach I saw crawling between the bedside table and the wall. I'll post a photo of that if I can. We could smell the guys next door through the wall every time they put on their buckets of cologne. Housekeeping-- 3 days during our stay I had to call to ask to have our room cleaned well after housekeeping was through our hall. We didn't have a "Do not disturb" sign on the door or anything, she just never came. We'd see her in the hall, but she just didn't see the inside of our room. Besides the pool, the only other thing I liked was that there were a lot of cute dogs as it is apparently a very dog-friendly hotel. If you are looking to stay in Palm Springs, find another place to stay, there are a lot of them and I am sure you will be much happier than we were.
