    Worst Experience I have had

    I think that this is possibly the worst hotel that I have ever been at. Every single day of our four nights that we stayed, we had to call for extra towels and call multiple times in that regard. One day our room was not made, and I called the desk 5 times over 5 hours, and ultimately was told that it could not be made. The staff member said that even though the cleaning staff would be unable to clean due to the time, he would send new towels and sheets. Even that request was ignored. Even when the room was cleaned there was still sand left on the tile floor. Bar staff were rude, and repeatedly spoke insults in spanish to customers who they believed could not understand them. Food had no labels as to what it included, making the resort very unfriendly to vegetarians. Their ‘open room mini-bar’ consisted of a not very cold fridge filled with 2 sodas, a juice, and 2 beers that we asked to be filled because it was not ready when we came in. Hot tub was not hot whatsoever and the water was plain unsanitary. Restaurants were not open as advertised. Two days in a row we went to the pizza place for lunch and were informed that it was closed and given no reason to the contrary. The water sports place, did not loan out the free boogie boards to 'water conditions' however both the neighboring resorts were renting out the boogie boards. Despite the perceived 'bad water conditions' paid attractions were still available. I would not recommend. I am usually not an unkind person and am empathetic of mistakes. However Occidental Caribe repeatedly made mistakes and showed little kindness or effort to correct them.

    Great resort, good service, except for a major issue at the pool bar

    Great resort, good food an good service. On a side note, there is only one complain that I have, but a major one. My complaint also comes from a lot of people who traveled to the resort with me (really large group). Unfortunately, the bartender Michael, who works at the pool, delivered a bad service to some of us. Why? he would simply prioritize people man tipped and women. The worst part of it is when I was with my girlfriend who's South American and he hit on her not knowing that I could speak Spanish. He literally cursed on me, disrespected me without acknowledging that I understood everything he said. I wasn't the only person in similar situation, and I hope that the next time I go back (and I really want to) Michael from the pool bar is not there, otherwise I'll have to choose a different resort. Ismael on the other hand is the best bartender in there.

    A nightmare vacation really bad time terrible resort really sorry to say this but they need to improve a lot of things room are really old is rain inside,the food was terrible, no variety wifi don't work

    We vacationed in Occidental Caribe 02/29/20-03/9/30. It was such a wonderful experience. Everything met our expectations. Hotel was clean, our ocean front room was nice and pleasant. All staff is extremely polite and helpful. There are many activities throughout the day and evening. We dined in all restaurants, hotel had to offer. I highly recommend Dominican restaurant, fish was excellent. I would like to especially thank our server Katiusca in the beach front bar. Always smiling, eager to serve with care and professionalism. We will be returning to this hotel next year.

    Outdated, terrible customer service, good location

    We stayed here for our anniversary. Amstar did a great job getting us to and from the resort. When we checked in, the resort gave us almost no information about the grounds, restaurants, or activities. We got to our room that smelled musty and noticed it was in need of some basic maintenance and upgrades. The furniture appeared to be from the 70’s. The red chair had several stains on it. The TV’s picture was blurred and only worked when it wanted to. The door frame was broke on the bottom and you could see into the hallway. The bathroom had a lot of lime build up on the tub. The handle on the tub fell off. The sink had several layers of thick caulk in spots. The tub backed up while showering. The bathtub was stained and didn’t look clean enough to stand in, let alone sit in. Customer service- the paper that had all the daily activities listed, you apparently had to go to guest service to get it, you just randomly find that out.... After booking a reservation at one of the specialty restaurants, we found out you only get so many guaranteed reservations based on your stay. Throughout our stay when we asked a worker a question they informed us that we had to ask that question to someone else in the resort, usually across the resort. The pools were nice clean and well kept. The customer service sucked and they made you feel like you were a constant inconvenience to them. You get what you pay for. If you want something cheap just to get to the Dominican. This place will work. But if you want nice and good customer service then pick somewhere else.
