Family Spring Break Trip - Satisfactory

My husband and I took our kids and significant others the GP for a spring break trip. In general, the stay was satisfactory. If you go here, make sure to get dinner reservations immediately upon arrival . The timeslots fill quickly and to be honest, even if you don't have reservations, I am not sure where you eat. There was a food truck every night though so that was a great addition. We weren't ever sure which restaurants were open outside of those that we had reservations. We went for breakfast one morning at the Poseidon and it was closed. The other option was open but we had no idea that Poseidon was closed. They offered reservations for the Mexican restaurant so we did that one night, only to find it was held at the Poseidon and our party of 7 wasn't able to sit together. No salsa, no margaritas (yep, you read that right) even though they pool bar was right outside the restaurant, one in our party never even got her meal. VERY disappointing night. It would be helpful if the resort would post somewhere in the lobby what is open/closed, what activities are happening at which pool and which pools and bars are actually open. We stayed in a loft suite. It is nice. Clean. Well supplied with towels and shampoos. However! Be very very very careful getting in and out of the shower. You have to step onto a step and then into the tub/shower. The step and the floor are marble and VERY VERY slippery. Two people in our party actually slipped and fell! Lucky they didn't hit their heads. If you aren't able to climb in and out of a tub this suite wouldn't be a good option for you. We have been to quite a few resorts in the Cancun area and noticed that the language barrier was a bit tougher here than in a Mexican resort. With a mask on top sometimes you just had to shake your head. :) The beach was beautiful! Gorgeous colors, water was great temp, sand was groomed of seaweed (at least until the storm rolled through), the beach bar was open, there were beach vendors but were controlled by the resort security and the police walking the beach as well. They vendors weren't a nuisance at all. It was obvious that they were trying to deal with Covid, as much of the resort and some restaurants, bars were closed. We had to get tested before coming back to the US and it was a smooth process. We did have a little snafu getting our paper results (although they did get us the quick results like 10 min after being tested). All in all it was a good trip. Just a few things that need some adjusting to make it a great trip.

Quick couples trip, and loved the resort. Yes, because of covid, things were closed more then normal, but the staff went out of their way to make up for this. They treated us so amazing. The resort followed the covid requirements, and was super clean. The food was good. The beach and pool are so beautiful. Completely recommend this resort (and palladium travel club). We went off the resort and tried Celina’s restaurant, amazing service and great food. The hotel booked our party boat trip and that was even great. They beyond gave us a party on the boat and at the sand bar! This resort is a must for anyone who was luxury, fun, and cleanliness.

Don't go, everything is closed. Food is terrible. They overcrowd the few restaurants that are open & the cooks they didn't let go don't seem to know how to cook. They ran out of can beer every day & the tap beer was disgusting, the lines are probably dirty.

We came to the Grand Palladium in Punta Cana for my birthday celebration and a much needed break. The location is great in the Bavarro Beach area is beautiful but the resort itself is horrible. This is their slow season, not sure if that is why the service all the way around is so poor. Our room had AC and electrical problems with the breaker cutting on and off every 5-10 min, a leaky refrigerator. Just a hot mess. Cost of the room is $300 US a night so it’s not cheap. Due to covid pandemic or maybe being the slow season most of the restaurants on the property were closed. So forcing every guest only one option to have most meals. There were two other restaurants open with reservations only and they had minimal available appointments. The one restaurant that most guests had access to daily has poor food quality, it is just really really bad. We had to get up and leave on a couple of occasions without eating. The all inclusive part that they advertise is also a huge scam. There are extra fees for room service which on our case we tried to use due to the restaurant available had really bad food. Also other fees for wine bottles, or to access the pool area at the spa amongst other fees. The bars on the property heavily waters down the alcohol they serve. Extremely weak cocktails. You can’t even taste or smell any alcoholic content in the drinks that you order and the drinks tasted like diluted versions of themselves. There is a supposedly high end version hotel on the property called the TRS, which is an adult only hotel so not sure if that hotel is better then the Grand Palladium hotels but try that one instead if you are planning to visit Punta Cana.
