*Edited for space* The Good: Resort staff: especially Miriam (Villa Marina & pool service) , Aurelia (buffet), Norma and Vicki (spa), Raul (dinner buffet) and Luis (La Petite Crêperie) Beach: beautiful stretch of sea and sand, and the cleanup crew does a great job keeping up with the seaweed Food: great a la cartes, no reservations, and La Petite Crêperie was outstanding! Also Mike's Coffee, ice cream shop and juice bar Puerto Morelos by taxi – neat bars and shops with a million dollar vista. Different pool areas for different guest experiences Room: clean, comfortable, well-appointed The Bad: Check-in is disorganized if you have any special requirements (this is common) - having to change rooms the next day is a hassle. (better coordination with vacation resellers, tour operators and hotels might help) Pool and beach drink service a little slow - staff work very hard to keep up with the demand, maybe hire a few more? Privilege upgrade and timeshare hard-sell - our vacation wasn't ruined because we didn't upgrade. We don't hang out in the room looking out at where we could be anyway. The resort could do a better job caring for the cats roaming around - several mangy and not fixed As usual, a lot of lounge chairs "reserved" without people in them. Putting towels on loungers at the beach AND pool is really not cool. (time for towels to start disappearing at $35 a pop) All in all, a great winter vacation on the warm and sunny Riviera Maya!

We loved this resort. It was very clean, beautiful pools & amazing staff. Our favorite restaurant was the Villa Marina where they had steak, ribs, etc. Wonderful food & wonderful staff. They came to say goodbye to us on our last night there. Our only disappointments were there were never enough lounge chairs around the pools & us being older folks, the entertainment was too late for us.

My husband and I, along with another couple, decided on OCT due to location and price point. We stayed from March 10-14, which wasn't quite long enough!! Once we arrived, we were greeted by Carlos to take our luggage as we were a tad early for check in. They kept our bags as we checked in and started our vacation off right- with a margarita! No more then 10 minutes later our room was ready and we were escorted. Rooms were spacious with beautiful views. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable!! Food wasn't the best as there wasn't a whole lot of variety. They had basic items on the buffets- burgers, hot dogs, salad etc. I was hoping for something along the lines of street tacos, carne asada etc.. a little more authentic. Carlos was one of our main bartenders and the swim up 'party' pool- He was amazing!! His drinks were on point and he had quite a few tricks as he prepared drinks. Ocean Burger was by the party pool and they had awesome burgers and truffle fries, a must try! We had dinner at Blue Moon which is one of their fancy dinner restaurants- portions are small so try multiple entrees. Raviolis were amazing!! We also did the Mayan Dinner. The food was awesome and the experience was amazing. The dancing, singing and overall culture shared was remarkable! I will say one con, if you will, is that they need more lounge chairs. People had chairs reserved by 5:30 am; myself being one of them as I knew I wanted to relax by the pool on our last day. Overall we had a very good experience. All of the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I'm sad I couldn't track down the peanut butt tequila everyone spoke about!!! One more thing to look forward to next time I suppose :) One more thing- I didn't use the spa at the resort, but along the beach just past the kids section there's a blue massage hut. These women were amazing! My friend and I got an hour 'relaxation' massage for $60. Juanita did mine and she was awesome! I did it on our last day so it really was a nice hour to cap off the trip.

We fought a pandemic, boarder closures, cancellation of flights and original resort plans to celebrate our daughters 16th birthday as well as my boyfriends birthday. We came as a family of 7! Two privilege rooms and two standard rooms. Prior to booking we called and were told “Mexico is safe and our resort is fully running”. Day one and two were not great but decent. Attentive staff, all paid for accommodations and decent food. We weren’t expecting exceptional because of the state of the world right now. We were more than willing to sacrifice things just to be able to celebrate as we had planned. Once the resort started the process of shutting down our experience soured quickly. All privilege lounges, restaurants and amenities were cut without any information being told to the guests. Not even a note left on the shut doors. I tipped our privilege butler and asked for the room to be decorated with balloons etc. for my boyfriends birthday while we were at the pool, he took my money said that it would be done “no problem” and we never saw him again. Rooms were properly cleaned, however, severe standard items like washcloths were not replenished even after asking. Standard restaurants began to shut down and activities were cancelled, again with no information being given to the guests. We would stand outside of restaurants and they would be dark but no signs were on the doors nor were there staff to direct us. Then the shortage of food and proper cooking techniques began. They would have items on the menu that were not available and the servers did not inform us. They allowed us to order them and then brought us made up meals from whatever was left on premises. On several occasions our food was raw in the inside or over cooked and inedible. We resorted to room service in hopes that things would be better, we were wrong. We would order meals for each person in the room and only receive what they had with no exploration or apologies. Food that should have been throw out was being used in an attempt to stretch what was left. 4 out of my family members got ill after eating lunch at the same restaurant on day. While we are understanding of the limited resources and need to began shutting down amidst a pandemic, we are not understanding of the lack of hospitality, the carelessness, inability to communicate and horror or not following standard health and hygiene protocols. We were extremely empathetic towards the staff and still continued to tip generously with the understanding that they would be without work, even when the service was well under par. To say we were disappointed with the lack of hospitality would be an understatement! The resort having to close does not mean you leave the remaining guest who have already paid to fend for themselves and simply figure it out until check out. We too were facing a stressful time and some of us returned home to no job and the fall out of this pandemic!! Communication and common courtesy would have gone a long way!

I had an amazing week here! All of the staff and facilities are wonderful! My favorite bartender while there was Gustavo at the chill out pool. Gustavo made drinks fast and always had a smile on his face. Erik on the entertainment team was the best and had tons of energy and made sure everyone had fun! My favorite waiter at the buffet, Casa del Mar, was Poncho. He was very attentive, remembered our drink orders, and was always smiling. My favorite restaurant was Casa d’Italia. It was a little Italian restaurant situated outdoors with table food preparation. It was so lovely and the food was so good! I cannot say enough good things about this resort; it has something for everyone whether you are going with family, friends, or significant other you are bound to have fun! I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did!!
