My husband and I stayed here two years ago for our honeymoon and we loved it so much we had to come back! We stayed in another swim out suite because we really enjoyed being on the ground floor and having access to a plunge pool outside our room. Staff is so friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and have everything you need. This time around, all staff were wearing face masks/shields. The resort had hand washing and sanitization stations spread throughout the resort and outside all restaurants/bars and lobby area. We never worried about the cleanliness or Covid- related concerns. Staff took your temperature before entering all restaurants. Guests are required to wear masks entering/exiting restaurants and in common areas. The pool and beach area are BEAUTIFUL! The overall maintenance and aesthetics of the resort are immaculate. The resort is very relaxing but you can also have a great time with the entertainment team who are always up for some fun! We loved Paula & Rico Suave - we did quite a few activities with them and really enjoyed it. Leonardo was our favorite server at the pool- he is so sweet and attentive. The food at this resort is ridiculously good! My husband and I loved the Italian and Mexican restaurants. Breakfast is probably my favorite meal though. Connie our concierge was very helpful booking excursions off site as well as reservations on the resort. The drinks at the pool/beach do seem a little watered down and sweet. You can always request a more custom drink and staff are very accommodating. If you don’t stay in the preferred club the Lobby bar makes the best cocktails. We will continue to come here every time we visit Cancun. We absolutely love this resort. We were never hungry, thirsty or bored!!

We opted to try the beach dinner for two, and it was worth every penny. Roman and Efrain provided exceptional, attentive service and ensured that my lady and I had a perfect, romantic evening together on the beach. They were phenomenal, followed closely by the setting.

Secrets Maroma ended up being one of our favorite vacations in recent memory.

We spent a week here during Spring Break 2021 during COVID precautions, so the hours of the restaurants and numbers of activities may have been modified somewhat from their normal state. The staff wore their masks all the time and they were constantly sanitizing and cleaning everything approipriately. The hotel also made our COVID testing for our return flight to the US easy and hassle free. Overall (TLDR): Our stay at Secrets Maroma was top notch. Arrival and check in was easy and welcoming even though we arrived at 10:45pm. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating with most every request we had. We really enjoyed the grounds, and the beach was as lovely as everyone said. Our meals were at worst average and many times surprisingly good - even occasionally imaginative. Secrets Maroma ended up being one of our favorite vacations in recent memory. The Story: We looked at several all inclusive hotels in the area, and Secret's award winning beach (along with some of the reviews) sold us on the property. Our flight didn't arrive in Cancun until 9:30 pm, so after we retrieved our bags and secured our rental car, we made the 45 minute drive down to the resort. Luckily there is a large sign on the main road telling you where to turn, because the actual place you turn into looks kind of run down and would be easy to miss. There is a manned guard shack and a couple resident dogs wandering around, so its not completely like a ghost town. Once you tell the guard you are heading to Secrets, you drive down a bumpy private road for about 7 minutes to the gates for the resort. That's where everything changes from rural Mexico to luxury. We pulled up to the front doors at around 11:00 after 8 hours of flying, bad food, and cramped airplane seats (never thought I would miss the COVID restrictions, but having the middle seat was always open was blissful in retrospect). We were greeted by a very friendly valet who took care of the car and ushered us to reception. High ceilings, clean lines, and a large marble water feature in the middle made for an impressive lobby. It only took 10 minutes to go through all the check in paperwork and info, and we were off to our room. We reserved a junior suite with an ocean view. Our room was on the top floor of the farthest back building on the property. We found the room to be spacious and comfortable with a reasonable view of the ocean from the balcony despite the distance from the beach. All the restaurants were closed by then, but we ordered almost every item on the room service menu along with a bunch of mimosas. Needless to say, we slept in the next morning. It took us a day or so to acclimate to which of the resort's restaurants were open and when and how to locate the activities, but we adapted pretty quickly. The bars were numerous and easy to find (I would say too easy, but hey, it was vacation), and they were well stocked to make basically anything you wanted. There were large monitors in different parts of the property showing all the activities for the day along with their times and locations. I found the monitor's lay out to be a little difficult to navigate, so we mostly wandered around and did whatever we wanted. There are cute, little animals called Coatis [KWAH-tees] – think if a lemur, squirrel, and raccoon were smashed into one animal – running around the property. Sometimes you can get close to them but they are naturally a little skittish. During our stay, we ate at every restaurant on the property. Only the Japanese restaurant, Himitsu, required reservations and that was to sit at the teppanyaki table. Otherwise it you just showed up at the restaurant unless you wanted to use one of the “special tables” - each restaurant had a table located away from the other tables where you could eat usually requiring the purchase of a bottle of wine. We never had much of a wait. The Buffet was open for breakfast and lunch. The food there was well prepared and often surprisingly good. There was a different theme every lunch – our favorite was Asain. One night the resort had a “Fire Show” set up outside with “special dinner” tables for couples (requiring the purchase of a bottle of wine or tequila). The show was decent, but the dinner was a little lackluster. It was steak and lobster with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Although prepared well, it felt like any number of wedding meals we have had in the states. The next night, we had a great experience when we went to the poolside steakhouse. We were waiting in line when they sat us at one of the 4 two-person tables by the pool thsat were positioned away from the main dining area and facing the beach. It was very intimate and relaxing. So much so that I chose that evening to propose to my then girlfriend. The manager of the restaurant who had given us the table originally was kind enough to video it for me. He then made us promise to come back a couple days later for their “international menu”. We didn't think much about it at the time, but when that day rolled around, boy did we have a surprise waiting for us! Edgar had put us at their special gazebo table for a beautiful and intimate dinner to celebrate our engagement. How thoughtful and unexpected was that! The Good: We love good food and eat mainly vegetarian/clean food. We were always able to find something that not only sounded good but also usually exceeded our expectations for food prepared at an all inclusive resort. We probably ate more meat in one week there than in the previous several months at home, but it was all very good. The staff was (almost see “mediocre” below) all very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Our Concierge, Esther, was great. She helped us fix the several small issues that came up with the room (remote not working, etc.) and helped us make our reservations for restaurants and our COVID test. Edgar, the manager of the Beachfront Steakhouse, was so great to us the whole time we were there. He really made our experience so very special. Lastly, Antonio at the lobby bar makes the best Tequila Royale you could ask for. The grounds are beautiful and the pools and beach are spectacular. Our room was comfy and our mattress was perfect for us. The massage we had at the spa, while expensive, was one of the better massages we have ever had. Great deep tissue work. The Bad: Nothing here was bad at all. The Mediocre: Some of the pasta we had was more of a Mexicanized version than the original (oaxaca instead of mozzarella, etc..) which wasn't the end of the world, just a little odd for someone used to regional Italian food. I did notice that there was often some discarded cups or napkins along some of the pathways that was not cleaned up over several days while we were there. It detracted from the beauty of the area but didn't spoil it. A few of the servers we had – specifically at the fire show dinner – were not very polished or friendly. They were really the exception to the rule.

We absolutely love this resort, this visit was our second time back and we went with friends who absolutely fell in love as well. We will continue to go back for years to come as the staff is amazing and all of the thoughts they put into this resort are very noticeable.

This is a beautiful resort!!! The beach was amazing and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! Secrets Maroma seriously is the perfect place to relax AND enjoy many activities. The restaurants are ridiculously good, everything was delicious!!! Even the sandwiches at the cafe were great! Our favorites were the Bourdoux (French) & Himitsu (Japanese). The entertainment team were rock stars. FELIX specifically was incredible. He seemed to be everywhere in the resort, wearing multiple hats, but would always remember us, was super respectful and kind, invited us into experiences we didn’t even know about, and made the whole vacation a lot of fun. We will 100% be back! :)
