In town for The Rolling Stones concert (epic once in a lifetime moment) and chose the Fairmont Tower King room. This was our first trip to San Francisco and wanted it to be special and we were not disappointed! The grand entrance was breathtaking and we could just feel history surrounding us as we walked through their doors. The staff was very friendly and took no time at all to get us our room. The pics attached are from the 21st floor bay view - exactly what we were hoping for! Thank you for an excellent experience and helpful staff. Room service is very fast and the staff is helpful with suggestions on things for new comers to visit. Stay here. You won’t be disappointed!

    Beautiful Hotel.....breakfast ordinary

This hotel is just beautiful. The location is lovely and our room (corner suite) had a beautiful view of Alcatraz. We travelled with our 18 year old daughter. It’s a grand hotel with a stunning lobby and excellent staff. There didn’t appear to be any restaurants or cafes immediately around the hotel. Our only comment would be about the breakfast. For $44 the selection was minimal, no cereal selections - one option only, and just overall quite basic for a hotel of this calibre. Other than this the hotel was excellent.

Save your money and look for some other hotels in SF, I will not come back and will try either Ritz or Four Seasons for that price range. To be fair, nothing was wrong and service was overall OK here but the hotel is just too boring. I wished to leave this hotel on my second night (out of 3). This is my least favorite Fairmont hotel so far. Not good: - no swimming pool - gym is great but apparently some guests need to pay. Our booking through amex got us free access. - very few food selection here, Tonga restaurant is closed on Mon and Tues. so we only had Laurel court restaurant and room service. Tonga was fully booked on Sunday night. Food overall was average with high hotel price. - nothing else to do in this hotel other than admiring it's history. - the hill to the hotel is pretty steep, not recommended location if you like to explore the city with easy access to hotel. - room is old (we got city view room) but clean. Too pricey for the quality in my opinion. Good: - good housekeeping - free coffee from 5am to 10am - historic building If you like an old historic hotel, maybe this is for you. Certainly not for me.

    Disappointing Level of Service

I'll qualify this by saying that the hotel is still nice, but after staying at the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons hotels in San Francisco, the level of service leaves much to be desired. I booked using American Express's Fine Hotels & Resorts program, because I had truly exceptional experiences at those hotels with the program (particularly the Ritz Carlton). I thought I would try this hotel because it was a bit cheaper and offers nice views. Big mistake. I called to ask about the possibility of a room upgrade prior to my stay, and to alert the staff that I would be arriving early and would like to take advantage of the noon check in. The woman I spoke to was very rude and unhelpful. I hoped when I arrived it would be easier to handle in person. That wasn't the case. My room wasn't ready and to upgrade to anything beyond the same size room I booked the hotel said there would be a surcharge of $350. This is such a far cry from my experience at the other hotels it almost makes me laugh. Given I paid more per night to book specifically through the Fine Hotels program, I expected more. The lesson for me is to go with what you know. Though the views are nice I wouldn't recommend staying here. You will get far better service, and consequently have a far better stay, if you stay elsewhere.

This was such a treat! The hotel is stunning and the staff are all attentive, pleasant and friendly. We had booked a room with two beds as travelling with our son. We ended up with two rooms which were adjoining and a shared bathroom - well beyond our expectations! Room was styled for the era but all modern and very classic in design. Some lovely touches such as an umbrella for your use. Great coffee machine and they do serve complimentary morning coffee in the circus room. Beds are incredibly comfortable and we had a small problem with the plug in our bath but it was attended to within 30 minutes Beautiful roof garden which is so peaceful and calm. You are a little away from the main sights but there is a town car available or you can grab an Uber (we paid around $9 a trip) or the cable cars pass close by. We took our car back to the airport rather than pay the $75 a day to park at the hotel! If you stay here then you are in for a treat!!
