    Great place to stay in Vancouver

    Great location and a classy hotel with attentive and professional staff. We ate a couple of meals at the ARC and they were good. The location can’t be beat if you are going to or coming from a cruise ship. We stayed at the Fairmont for two nights prior to our cruise and found it to be well situated to access all other activities.

    The hotel is a lovely old fixture in downtown Vancouver. The lobby is a lovely space with high end shops, and bar. The best part are the lobby dogs, 2 beautiful labs! Our room was nice, clean, and a great view! I thought the halls were a bit shabby and a bit of maintenance could be done! Watch for the extras wifi isn't even included, which I find ridiculous . That being said we enjoyed our stay!!

    Beautiful building...and that's it. Room was dusty, not that clean, water pressure very weak, broken AC unit that does not turn off even when set at a temperature, and broken fan in the bathroom - I approached the front desk to see if two of the issues (ac unit and water pressure) could be looked into. They asked "would it be ok to send someone now?" to which i replied "of course, sure". Was working in my room and noticed that 3 hours had passed and no one came through so I called to make sure that someone would be coming. The issues were pending even after meeting with an engineer, and in the end were not fixed during our stay. And no one at the front desk bothered to follow up - didn't even ask when we checked out. Front desk staff - argumentative and lacking in service manners. Doorman - nonexistent. And when there was a doorman I nearly mistook them for security guards because they had scowls on their faces and did not bother to help nor greet. This place was extremely different from my other experiences at other Fairmonts. As a platinum member, this experience discourages me from booking at other Fairmonts (especially this one, needlesstosay). They advertise that the best kind of guest is a "repeat guest" - they do not live up to that motto. They really don't care. I will not be going back to this place.

    If you appreciate heritage and being in the most optimal downtown Vancouver location (IMHO). I was offered a renovated room with view looking west over Alberni street. I didn’t eat in the hotel but I went jogging apparently my the waterfront, walked to yoga at Y studio on Burrard (five minute walk) and popped out to shop on Robison. I was there for a work course at the Sutton and was happy with my choice of hotel for proximity to the Sutton and everything else downtown Vancouver has to offer. The new Fairmonts down in Coal Harbour while Uber swanky and modern are an uphill hike to everything so that’s why I didn’t choose to stay there; kind you if it wasn’t summer and it was rainy I’d opt for the newer ones as they have better fitness facilities and I’d likely shuttle everywhere rather than walk.

    This hotel is amazing from the time you enter this hotel everyone is so friendly and kind the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are awesome it’s very clean absolutely no noise in the room from outside you will not be disappointed
