We have zero complaints about this hotel. Yes it is old, but there is a ton of history there. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was phenomenal. Wait staff was attentive. Concierge was super helpful and called local restaurants to make reservations for us. Cigar shop was amazing. Mariela was our maid while we were there and she was so sweet and friendly and did a great job making sure our room looked great when we returned each evening. I highly recommend this hotel.

There's a fair bit of history and nostalgia in this famous Havana landmark.

This is an iconic Havana location, and not to be missed. There’s no problem about non-guests visiting, and you’ll probably want to stay for a drink anyway. It’s great to sit above the Malecon with a cocktail, which will cost little more than you’ll normally pay elsewhere in Havana. As well as taking in the views, take a chance to see the huge gun emplacements, with guns manufactured by Krupp’s still in situ. Inside the hotel be sure to visit the area dedicated to the numerous famous guests who have stayed at the hotel, including Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner. This room also includes statues of Compay Segundo and Nat King Cole.

This hotel was amazing! What a great location. The restaurants were varied and delicious. Especially enjoyed the Churchill bar. The grounds are well kept and an easy stroll. Don''t miss the tunnel tour, with it's main area of historical maps about the missile crisis, to the interesting, twisting tunnels.

As all will be aware certain travel restrictions apply at this time. Our flights have also been cancelled and understandably so. We have booked a suite at the hotel for our time in Havana itself and prepaid the full amount. I have corresponded with the hotel on 5 separate occasions requesting either a cancellation or a voucher as we still will visit Cuba in the next 12 months if all is well. I have to date not received any correspondence re my request. All our other accommodation bookings in Cuba were unbelievably helpful with vouchers or cancellation without penalty. Poor service probably meaning we WILL NOT stay at the Nacional when we go.

had a fantastic holiday in the amazing Hotel Nacional (7 Nights) we stayed in a large seaview room third floor.arrived mid day checking in went very smoothly as there has been negative comments on checking in. I must say if you looked at all of the bad reviews about the nacional you would run a mile and book the nearest casa,The bottom line is if you want a modern hotel with all mod cons !! or do you want to spend a fantastic holiday in a charming aged gem. yes its old and it rattles a wee bit like the maracas and old vintage cars ! thats part of the adventure, the hotel is placed in a great location for traveling to various parts of havana,we walked the malceon most days and got a different type of transport back to hotel !! taxis and buses and vintage cars and ricksaws ! cost would vary but you soon find out the first day how much things cost. we only stayed bed & breakfast and that is a great start to the day ! you wont have to eat till late in the day ! never used hotel restraunt just snacks at the bars, The Swimming pool is very relaxing and clean and waitress service at the pool bar free towels and there is a cafe restraunt next to pool and you can exchange money at the bank next to swimming pool. The Hotel staff were fantastic apart from a few ( Bottom bar) looking out to malceon rude and not helpful thats the only small complaint we never went back to that bar ! we have had many holidays in various parts of the world / Cuba havana ranks as one of our best trips and our stay in the Nacional was part of the great memories that we will cherish Havana is a great friendly place and safe and very genuine nice people we will be back to cuba and the Nacional I Hope all the staff at the nacional & cubans are safe & well we just departed before Covid 19 (Coranavirus) had started to take hold god bless take care
