Good, Not Great

Overall, this is a good resort, but not great. The hotel itself is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Everything looks beautiful initially but upon closer inspection at both the room and the grounds, some signs of aging are definitely evident- things like broken door handles, corroded bathroom mirrors, broken tiles in pool, decaying concrete steps, sun-faded glass balconies, etc. Basically, it looks loke a very popular resort that has been a bit worn out by constant crowds. OK so the food. Its plentiful, everywhere and solid. basics are best- the breakfast buffet has something for everyone. Nice little coffee bar serving nearly around the clock. Simple stuff like burgers and tacos by the pool are also a strong point. But when Secrets attempts to go upscale, it gets a little uneven and feels like a stretch. Differentiation between the evening dining restaurants billed as "italian", "chinese", "Mediterranean", etc seem to be accomplished by coating the same chicken, beef and fish dishes with heavy sauces. An amuse bouche presented at the chinese restaurant as a compliment from the chef was the same chicken finger served at a lunch buffet. Fish and chips at Bluewater Grill was quite literal- served with potato chips. Pad Thai at Dragons emitted an unpleasant smell rivaled only by a truly revolting taste of burnt plastic- and it inexplicably came with tortillas chips mixed into it. So it's sorta like fake chinese, fake steakhouse, fake italian and overall fake upscale dining. i guess if youre into Applebee's and Olive Garden you might define this as good food, but sorry to say visitors from major cities aren't going to think this is good food. If i were to re-do this trip, i would prob not go all inclusive again, get a nicer/newer resort and just deal with the cost of eating out. You get what you pay for and since the food is "free" or included, expect to be fed but not wowed

From the moment we got out of the car, the staff at Secrets the Vine made our stay one for the memory books! Our concierge, Melina, took care of us at check in- and set us up for an amazing stay. The preferred club was great, and we are thankful we had it! We tried all the dining options during our week long stay, and wish we had gone to Nebbiolo sooner. The first time, our waiter Jahir. He was so kind and kept the wine glasses filled! At the end of dinner, he said if we come back to ask to sit with him, and said we would return before leaving! The next day, we ran into him at the resort and he remembered us and we said we would see him for our last night. When we returned, we got to sit with him again, and he brought out the chef! We were treated to an amazing meal (with so much food- we had to skip a course). Both Jahir and Chef Norvelin made our last night one for the memory books! Thank you for an amazing trip!
SECRETS THE VINE

I was apprehensive at first after reading some of the reviews. Secrets the Vine was a great spot. This was our first Secrets but one of many All inclusive vacations we have been on. It met or exceeded most of my expectations for a family getaway. Good location if traveling with young adults. Room was a bit small and dated. The view descriptions can be deceiving. Balconies are not private. Service in the restaurants was excellent. Cesar , Abigail and their team at Market Cafe are extremely attentive and welcoming and go out of their way to accommodate all of your needs. Angel and the staff at Blue water steakhouse were superb. The Vine Cafe is a great way to begin the day with a coffee and attentive baristas. The food was comparable to many of the All Inclusive's we have visited, which are mostly adults only. I read many reviews about the sulfur smell. I am very scent sensitive and could hardly ever smell it. No more or less when resorts are at sea level on a peninsula. They have an air freshener scent which is very pleasing and not overwhelming. Resort rooms and grounds are very clean. I never encountered a day when there were no seats at the pools or beach. Obviously prime seats are taken early but there was always availability. All in all a great stay. Oh and bonus they never once chased us to sales pitch.

Angel Andrew Sergio Rogelio the best entertainment team! Salvador the best bartender. Beds were comfy. Beautiful resort. Very clean in the rooms and the lobby and restaurants. Dragon’s restaurant was awesome. Volleyball was the best water sport.
