Good location. But... They had not prepared the rooms for our group as payed and asked, so everything took time and negotiating. There was a huge and very noisy aggregate working next to the hotel (neighbouring hotel's territory) day and night, sleep was thing we could not get easily. Also the security deposit was a bit odd. But the people were nice and helpful, so overall we enjoyed our stay.

We were at first taken aback by the $50 security deposit at check in. After all, we weren’t checking into a pay-by-the-hour joint. The valet attendant wasn’t eager to have us there, it seemed, either. Our room was clean and updated, although a bit small. Unfortunately the room was not quiet. We could hear every conversation going on in the hallway, every arrival of the elevator, and every footstep that passed by the room. This is an older hotel, and their efforts to try and cover that up with layers of paint fell far short of impressive. One elevator was out of service and the beach elevator worked occasionally. Another thing we were turned off by was the fact that although this hotel is on the beach, in order to sit on the beach on a chair, we had to rent the chairs from a third-party. This clearly gave us the impression that the hotel couldn’t have cared less about catering to their guests. The one bartender that was working the tiki bar was slow and overworked—there should have been more bartenders working to meet the demand. Drinks were small and overpriced. Parking fees were ridiculous too. I never saw so many rules at a hotel! No towels here, sign for your towels there, pay for your chairs, no drinks here, only these drinks there, etc. Staff was not friendly at all, as they were bothered by our mere presence, it seemed.

    Tiny rooms are poorly renovated

This hotel is in a great location right on the beach, which is why we mainly picked it, plus a heated outdoor pool is always nice. They also have a more reasonable parking fee compared to other hotels. The staff here were all very accommodating with the exception of the woman who worked in the store who couldn’t be bothered to stop talking to a friend on the phone the entire time we were in the shop. The room was very small and I would guess that the remodel of the room consisted of the poor paint job and that’s it. The bathroom was very nice though. Here’s a tip, remodeling should be done by someone who can paint within the lines and can paint the entire door frame not just the parts they can easily reach. Not happy that you’re not allowed to turn off the a/c in the room, that doesn’t make sense. I don’t think we’ll be going back. There are hotels that don’t cost much more that are better maintained.

My mother and I just completed a two week stay at the Ocean Sky to get away from what has been a long and harsh winter up north. We booked two rooms namely a suite for my mother with an oceanfront view as well as an adjoining standard room for myself. The rooms have been updated recently and it shows with new carpeting, furniture and bathroom including tiled shower with glass doors. The suite is now an open concept with a large king size bed and large screen tv, adjoining kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave and dining table as well as a sitting area with sofa bed, chairs and another large tv All rooms have a nice sized balcony facing the ocean which is great to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or late afternoon glass of wine. Staying in the oceanfront suite means you have a very short walk to the beach elevator which takes you directly down to the pool area. The pool area is very nice with lots of comfortable chairs and although the second week of our stay coincided with Spring Break we were always able to find chairs. The pool is also a decent size and heated for those cooler days. While valet parking is an additional fee it comes in handy and the attendants made sure we never had to wait long for our car despite the fact that the hotel was at or near capacity. The hotel is located on a nice stretch of beach and not far from many restaurants and grocery stores. While the hotel is nice especially since the recent renovations what sets it apart in my view is the staff. Two people who deserve special mention are Eddie the concierge and Lamercie who is responsible for giving out the towels at the pool area. Both went above and beyond in terms of service and it was very much appreciated by both me and my mother. We hope to return again next winter for another pleasant stay at the Ocean Sky.
