We booked a two bedroom apartment, and although quite dated it served our needs well. It had a well appointed kitchen (Except no dish cloth or brush to do the dishes) and there was plenty of room for two adults and two teenagers. It had a nice view out to Diamond Head and a decent sized balcony. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. Although we arrived in the morning and couldn’t check in until 3pm we were given access to the pool, area and a quiet room where we could sit and wait. Don’t stay here if you want modern and trendy, but it’s fine if you want functionality and friendly staff. We ended changing Hotels because for us the Waikiki experience is about being on the beach, but this decision was not a reflection of anything wrong with the hotel itself. This was just a bit too far away from the centre of the action for us, after dark we were just a little nervous about the odd homeless person that was hanging around on the streets between the beach and the hotel. They were probably harmless but we are not used to this so were just a bit wary. If you want to eat out at night you will have to walk a few blocks and there was nothing really close by. Having a shop to purchase snacks, chip pies and breakfast and drinks etc was a bonus. There is an ABC store 5 minutes walk away. We didn’t end up using the pool as this area seemed quite windy, we may have just been unlucky with the weather conditions but it was sheltered on the beach but quite windy at the hotel.

    Very Good!

We stayed here a couple days ago. This hotel is very well located to the beach. We were on the 22nd floor which gave a very good view! The only thing is this location is a little older, but very well maintained. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as staff was friendly to deal with and the rooms were clean.

walking distance to waikiki, the room is a bit dated

pros: 1) walking distance to waikiki busiest street (3 blocks) 2) daily parking rate is reasonable ($25) 3) balcony with good city view cons: 1) the resort fee: the resort fee was not noted when I booked with agonda, so the $120 turns out to become close to $150 a night 2) the room is a bit dated. the bedroom looked ok, but the sofa bed and the carpet does look quite outdated. 3) we booked a one bedroom for "5" people, but actually there were only 1 queen bed and 1 sofa bed (for 3 persons). it's not realistic to sleep 3 people in a sofa bed.

Bit of a shock when arrived but once used to it was fine

Have to say I was shocked when we arrived as the whole place is dated but everyone we dealt with was lovely and everything worked well and was clean and comfortable. It has best views and great location. We had free WiFi and free dvds and ps3 games with dominoes practically next door which was handy on first night. You get full kitchen and communal washing machine and dryer.

Upon Arrival at the Aston Waikiki sunset, I thought I had instead booked into a cheap YMCA hostel. The lobby and entrance was very dowdy and looked like it hadn’t been redecorated since the 60s. The receptionist (who did have a good understanding of Asian languages ) was completely devoid of personality and very unwelcoming. Our room was not available until after three and our arrival time was early morning. We were then informed of, and asked to sign a so called mandatory amenity fee program. This fee of $25 plus tax was supposed to cover Wi-Fi, coffee and tea, daily newspaper, in room safe, local and toll free calls and DVD and PlayStation hire. The hotel advertises free Internet and yet we were charged !!!!!! Our travel agent, upon enquiring about this mandatory tax was told that it was written in very small letters. The rooms were acceptable with well equipped kitchen, the air conditioning was quite noisy and we had a great deal of difficulty accessing the TV channels. The hotel was in an easily accessible area close to a lot of amenities. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I will certainly be making people aware of this so called mandatory amenities fee that is now charged throughout the USA.
