This hotel is so run down that I’m baffled as to how it is still operating. In my opinion the positive reviews are illegitimate, if you order by latest reviews and the lower ratings you’ll find what I wish I had read before we booked here. In summary, the hotel reminded me of the places I would stay at when I went backpacking on a shoestring 20 years ago. So on arrival as a family of 5 for a week-long relaxing break from London, we were mortified to discover the state of the hotel and the adjoining beach club. Think mouldy plastic sun loungers (all of them), soft drinks served from a 4 litre bottle which was flat, cracked mugs and tables, mouldy showers and grouting in bathrooms (we had two rooms and both were similarly bad), damaged walls, bobbly, stained and grey bedsheets and tatty grey towels..to name a few of the issues. In addition to the bad state of the property, the service was abysmal. No beach towels left at the beach club, no tables for breakfast available (told to just wait), used drinks from others left outside our room all night and day, indifferent staff when I complained. We awoke to a loud scratching sound in our room which turned out to be a big crab fiddling with the electrical wires! When I demanded it be removed the staff did nothing until I complained to the manager. This hotel was so poor on every level that it bordered on comedy; it was simply unbelievable given how it presents itself on its website. The website photos are extremely inaccurate and misleading, as can be seen from my attached photos. For example, the “putting green” was so old and decrepit that it was not possible for the kids play with. We promptly left after one night (I will be seeking a full refund) and checked into the hotel next door (VillaSol) which thankfully had availability, has been very good and has an absolutely fantastic beach club- and is CHEAPER than Posada Real!! The fact Posada Real charges the prices it does is pretty much fraudulent! So save your money and your holiday and go next door.

Very clean, family oriented hotel, with wonderful beach

Trip561477 on Feb 24, 2023

This hotel has the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. You can access the private beach club via a shuttle or by walking down (and up) 40-50 stairs, it was quite doable and I'm a senior citizen. The waves are high but are manageable if you dive into them. The hotel has two adult and two kiddie pools. We utilized the full breakfast buffet which provided way more food and food choices, including eggs and omelets to order, than you could possibly eat. There was lots of fresh fruit, too. The staff is friendly and helpful, if necessary you can find someone who speaks English. This hotel mainly served the Mexican population and was very family oriented. We rented a room with an ocean view and it was gorgeous, the hotel sits on a cliff. The walls were a bit thin, you could occasionally hear other guests, but in general the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. Dining off site was available either by a 7 minute walk or taxi. We took a taxi to the supermarket to stock up lunch for our refrigerator. The air conditioning worked very well.

Read this before booking…Outstanding beach club location/pool but other than that, very mediocre at best. Wifi appalling

Carl W (United Kingdom) on Feb 05, 2023

Beach Club You get free access as a hotel guest. This by far is the best part of the hotel. It would cost non-hotel guests 1000 pesos per day - and that’s just for a lounger and access to the pool etc. It’s really lovely with a pool, direct access to beach and beach towels. Wifi is unreliable but the food and drink are reasonably priced (we had several snacks throughout the week - burgers, club sandwich - rather than the buffet but all were tasty and good portions). Room Gosh, where do I start? If you’re from the UK, think ‘very basic’ (TripAdvisor inexplicably doesn’t allow you to say a ‘…’ hotel, but you catch my drift I’m sure). The shower was unclean and the glass door hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. When I shaved, the cleaner didn’t clean any of the area afterwards. It’s not ‘unclean’, it’s just not thorough in anyway. The bedsheets were clean though and we had freshly laundered towels daily. The wifi simply doesn’t work unless you stand by the window. Whilst the wifi in the whole of Puerto Escondido wasn’t great, this was utterly crap. The hairdryer didn’t work. The shower was seldom anything more than luke warm. The room is just all a bit tired and in desperate need of a refresh. Food/drink This is probably one of only a handful, if less all-inclusive hotels in the Puerto Escondido area. It costs 290 pesos per person for breakfast and 1350 per person per night to upgrade to all inclusive (obviously you don’t pay for breakfast too if you’re all inclusive). Drinks if you’re not all inclusive are about 50 pesos for a local beer or 130 pesos for a cocktail. Overall we thought the AI was bad value so didn’t purchase it as we wanted to eat out locally too. We didn’t try any food at the hotel itself. Pool There’s a pool in the main hotel area which is nice, and it’s clean. The gardens are beautifully maintained and view of the sunset is gorgeous. The beach club is by far the best pool, albeit slightly busier (it wasn’t even a quarter full at any time we were there though). Staff Didn’t speak any English which made communication a bit difficult. Some were really friendly; others just rather indifferent to my presence. The waiters at the beach club were really nice and accommodating.

So pleased we will return SOON

dmrxox (Stonington, Connecticut) on Jan 28, 2023

The hotel has been upgraded with new additions and rooms with balconies. The bathroom is bigger with more storage space. Shower good pressure and hot water There is a mini refrigerator and drip coffee maker, tv and excellent AC in the room. We asked for a balcony room. It costs more but we’ll worth it!!! The pools are clean and the grounds beautiful as always. We have stayed here in the past and this was the best so far. The coffee is real not instant in the restaurant. The buffet is ok and drinks weak and expensive. We do not get the all inclusive as there are so many restaurants to walk to. We find the staff friendly and very helpful and enjoy trying to speak Spanish with them. We are so pleased with the upgrades we will definitely return Ps good internet in the rooms and lobby and at Coco’s

Semi all Inclusive

gailmY401EC on Dec 24, 2022

Was just there Dec. 5 - 20, this was our second time there. The resort is NOT all inclusive anymore, they call it “Semi Inclusive” now. The only thing not included is the specialty restaurant. The food in the buffet and Cocos beach club was very good and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are in desperate need of some updates and the beach club is in need of new umbrellas plus a greater number of umbrellas, there is not much shade around the pool and the hard wood chairs on the beach are rather uncomfortable. The beach is very nice. We found it odd the bar closed at 10:30....a little early.
