The spirit of Aloha starts the moment you enter the lobby. We were greeted by Dheeann, aka D, she was incredible, she made sure we were well taken care of and given keys to the arrival/departure lounge (it is wonderful.) as our room would not be ready for a bit. D explained all of the amenities of the resort and is the most warm and welcoming Front desk person. Later, Amy gave us the keys to our room and was also an exceptional employee. We have been to Maui over 20 times and have stayed at many properties but I believe our search has ended as this is the Resort to stay at. Our room was beautiful, the views amazing, the resort so large yet feels so intimate. The pools were beautiful, food was yummy, service very very good. We can’t wait for our return.

    Little things add up...

First of all, the views are amazing and the property is generally beautiful so I suppose if that is all you want then it’s ok. The views aside, this hotel never stopped disappointing. The room maintenance, nickel and diming, and annoying aspects of crowds were the three things the really pushed it over the edge. It really pains me to say all this and write such a terrible review especially for a place with such potential. Crowds and some nickel and diming are to be expected at most large resorts, but some do a better job of hiding it and producing a peaceful experience for all guests. My disappointment started while waiting for about 15 minutes in the check-in line. Many resorts I have stayed at of this level offer seated check-in and have someone come get you when a check-in agent is ready. This should have been the first sign that it was going to be overcrowded and not in a good way. Getting coffee was a nightmare as the line at Starbucks after 7:00 am was out the door and there was not much of an alternative for decent coffee that I found. Almost every day the pool chairs were taken early in the morning, and at the main pool there was a DJ in the afternoon blasting some really horribly loud music which really ruined the peaceful ocean vibe. There are lots of events at this resort too which leads to a constant stream of people going to and from. As for nickel and diming, the best example is a delivery charge to bring wine glasses to the room. I honestly can’t believe there weren’t any in the room especially given I stayed in one of their premiere suites. The most disappointing aspect of this resort was the room. The first night we stayed in a regular oceanview room that was actually quite nice and what I would expect for the price. The room had a side couch for lounging, adequately sized balcony, and a large bathroom with a decent size shower. After this night I was very excited because I booked the oceanfront sundeck suite for the remaining 4 nights. The oceanfront sundeck suite is one of the resort's best and most expensive rooms aside from the executive and presidential suites. The room was a complete dud because of its awkward bathroom and lack of maintenance. These weren’t really things I could complain about and ask the resort to fix on the spot, so I just stuck it out. The bathroom is the most awkward part of this room. It has a garden tub that isn’t very inviting and the shower is seriously 3’x 3’ – something you would find in a basic room at a Motel 6. The shower door had a giant gap in it so the water would run out onto the floor making a wet mess even after a quick shower. The counter space in the main part of the room was actually smaller than the first room, and it had a tiny mini fridge with space for only a few bottles of water which is a shame because this room would be great for entertaining given the massive deck and dining table out front. The rugs were stained, furniture scuffed, and the air-conditioning vents covered in dust. The doors leading to the bedroom were damaged and didn’t latch shut. The outdoor furniture was most disappointing because in many ways this room is about the giant deck. The large couch outside was so stained and dirty I never once sat on it. The regular chair cushions were also dirty and stained. The “candle” holders were rusted and in disrepair adding to lackluster atmosphere. I could seriously go on with this list for some time, but I am tired of typing. I did post a few pictures… I think if it weren’t for the room issues this review would have been 3 maybe 4 stars. I honestly hope this provides some actionable feedback about this room so other guests don’t have to experience the disappointment. I can definitely relate my experience to all the things said in other reviews about the lack of caring for Marriott elites. This stay was so disappointing that I am actually going to change my loyalty back to Hyatt or Hilton for 2020. I’ve been staying at Marriott branded hotels when I can for business for the last 2 years and have somewhat enjoyed elite status. However, looking back I am realizing most stays been disappointing for many of these same 3 reasons listed above and the elite perks don’t seem to be as good as other brands.

Even the cheap rooms are spacious and have patios/balcony's. The water slides and kids pool are super fun. The beaches are not too crowded and there were sea turtles swimming among the waves. The food was good and the luau was a highlight. Even the reception area was fun for kids with tree swings and a large pond with coy.

We were visiting Wailea Marriott. Upon entering lobby, we were welcomed by all the staff. Ferd at the car valet. I had a question for a manage r and was referred to Moses. Moses was absolutely fantastic. Welcoming, helpful, emotionally intelligent and incredible responsive. He went out of his way when he truly did not need to. It is simply because of Moses that our group of Physicans will be back to Wailea Marriott Beach Resort.

For my 37th Anniversary and 65th Birthday we decided to celebrate it in Maui! It’s the only Island we have not visited in the years we’ve been married. Everyone is so very friendly and helpful, it must be part of the culture because it seems effortlessly, and the interactions with the staff were parts of the highlights of our one week vacation here. Alan from the Bell Staff was a delight to talk to, he has been with the hotel for 27 years and he had lots of great tips on what to see and do in Maui. Super Mario, and Linda made our evening dinners a delight at Kapa’s by the pool. We talked to them about Island Life and the insights they shared with us is inspiring us to visit again and make Maui our Go to Island! Richard the Front Office Manager introduces himself and asked how our stay was going. We can only reply, “Fabulous!” The Housekeeping team was awesome! Norma T, Mabelle, and Kelly made sure our rooms were perfect! From every department, they all said Aloha! Some offered us directions when we got lost, and one nice gentleman from the Front Office asked if we wanted our picture taken by him after he finished work going towards his car. Taking time, saying hello... getting to know their guests played a huge part of us wanting to come back here to stay again soon. Thanks to the staff of this beautiful resort for all the Aloha they have for the guests! I wish I had Linda, Super Mario, Richard, and Alan working for me... They and all the staff make this Resort Shine! Dave and Becky Aloha from Seattle!
