To the staff of Playa Mazatlan, there are too many people to thank that make our vacation special every year! Jesus, Jamie, Roberto, Nicolas, Pedro and the new kid on the block Daniel! Thank you and please be safe!

When arriving into Mazatlán airpot we were nicely surprised very organized clean etc, we were met by sunwing rep, all good. Unfortunately it started to slip after that. Mazatlan is not a particular picturesque part of Mexico. It became evident that hotel area was under construction, meaning the whole road winding around the tourist area and numerous hotels being rebuilt. We were very relieved arriving at the Playa as it appeared much nicer than the other options we passed. The hotel, clean, staff basically friendly, check in great, given requested room. Buffet terrible (worst all inclusive I have ever been to including Cuba) the majority of other guests were Mexican families which was lovely except we felt we were ignored, we chose to sit by the pool one afternoon decided just to get our own drinks etc as it was that blatant, tried to join in the games and have a bit of fun with everyone, just felt uncomfortable. The worst part for us was the bands on the beach. Fun at first but the noise became unbearable especially till 4am. However it was my sister and I so we got on and had a good time took the golf carts back and forth to the old town had some lovely meals there and did a lot of walking along the boardwalk. Unfortunately could not recommend this area or hotel to anyone at any time. I also felt that I had greatly over paid when listening to other guests.

A very friendly and clean hotel. The service is excellent. All of the agents are supportive and helpful especially a few on evenings. We were able to upgrade to a ocean view easily with an agent on evenings. Our needs certainly were met. One of the maids very artistic when placing blankets on our bed. Would stay there again. . Negative Hotel manager keeps ocean view rooms for friends need to be persistent to upgrade.

I loved staying at Hotel Playa Mazatlan for 6 days. The room was well appointed, quiet and had a good ocean view. There were amazing sunsets! The location was central. I felt very safe as a solo traveler. The hotel had numerous pools, and a lovely infinity hot tub. There were 4 main restaurants, a good buffet, a Mexican, a Brazilian and an Italian one. The staff were all helpful, friendly, willing to help, offer suggestions of what to see on my own or on tours. One concierge, Shane Bacon, went out of his way to explain a lot about the region and explained how to find all kinds of transport, by bus, taxi, on foot, and in pulmonias, which are quite fun and look like a large open air golf cart. He suggested seeing the open air market, the cathedral, the historic district, with its brightly colored restored buildings. Great shrimp at a restaurant there. He recommended walking up a hill to a lighthouse with great views. He arranged a fine whale watching tour, where we saw 4 humpbacks, including a baby, gradually head north. We saw islands with sea lions, and more with boobies, frigate birds. The next day, with the same guide,Cesar, 3 of us kayaked about a mile and a half, to Deer Island, where we hiked up a hill, with beautiful cacti and flowers then snorkeled, before kayaking back. I give this hotel very high rating, and would love to return!

    Always a top notch destination!

This is our second visit in as many years and it didn’t fail in its efforts to meet our expectations! Cleanest Hotel we have ever been in. Staff worked around the clock to disinfect everything! We had to cut our visit short by 4 days to get back home to Canada and though the virus threat made it a very stressful time, the staff and management went way over the top to make us feel safe and welcome. Unfortunately a few U.S. visitors arrived and didn’t seem to care about the virus threat probably due to their leaders lack of care and staff were only too aware of their threat to our safety! We will be back when this is over!!!!
