Azul Beach Resort, Negril

We stayed at Azul for 2 weeks and could have stayed longer!! Our Butlers and the staff made our stay even more special. Shout out to our Butlers Tamara, Dwayne and Markland. Shanicka at the grill always on point with our lunch. Can’t wait for our next vacation next year.

Don't Go

The hotel is run-down. Furnitures are dingy and old. Cracks in the structure of the building. Staff begging for our personal items. Food needs flavor. We paid for the rooms with the swim out pools, well let's say i never when in the pool it was dingy and dirty. Checking in was a nightmare...Rooms were not ready... This hotel was recommended by a wedding planner, after hearing about our experiences promised never to send her clients there. We had over 100 family members and friends who stayed for at least 5 night, and had nothing good to say about Azul beach resort... I felt bad for my Neice who paid an astronomical amount of money to have her dream wedding there, after the wedding my Neice had a meeting to discuss her disappointments, only for them to offer a steak dinner for her not to give a bad review.

A wonderful resort!

So after reading lots of really quite negative reviews in the lead up to our stay, we were a little worried… thank god we didn’t listen! I’ll start with a few minor things, as I feel like that’s what I’ve seen in most of the bad reviews - the resort would sometimes run out of some ingredients, i.e mint, Nutella, beach towels were hard to get your hands on every day, you did need to be up reasonably early to reserve a bed in a good spot (although there were some beds left later on in the day, we just wanted them in a certain area and liked getting to early to enjoy the day anyway). A few very small teething issues, which I feel like you see anywhere you go. So if you sweat the small stuff, maybe that’s where the bad reviews are coming from. We had the BEST time at Azul - the beach is just gorgeous. Waking up there every morning was incredible! We used the free kayaks and paddle boards a few times which were fab. There’s lots of other watersports about you can pay for, too. We had drinks orders taken on the beach, (adult area), and drinks brought to us which we relaxed. We stayed in the premium swim up suite in the adults only section and it was amazing - we had a swim up bar attached which was really enjoyable. There’s lots of reports of broken chairs on the beach, but we didn’t see any. Our room was kept super clean too every day and everything worked just fine for the 10 days we were there, i.e running water and so on. The staff were brilliant - Kaydene, Alphonso, Camille and Novalette were all incredible. They made our stay! The staff are super personal and can’t do enough for you. Our favourite restaurant was the Italian, the Asian and Palms for breakfast. They were all wonderful! There’s sometimes a bit of a wait for food in the evening restaurants, but we were happy drinking our wine! The Jamaican was okay, but the Jamaican BBQ on the beach surpassed it. The entertainment was good too - rum tasting in Nesta Lounge, reggae band, and so on. There’s great premium spirits across the resort included, you just have to specifically ask for them. The whole resort had a lovely, chilled vibe, and we absolutely loved it. I honestly wouldn’t listen to the negative reviews. Maybe if you’re used to touring 5 star resorts every year, maybe the teething issues aren’t for you. But if you’re chilled, wanting good vibes, fun and sun, Azul is fantastic and you won’t regret going! Jamaica is the best!

Never stay here!!! Not worth the money…

We recently stayed at the Azul - Negril, Karisma property. Our original reservation was from 3/23 - 3/28, but after experiencing several issues we checked out on 3/26 and moved to another resort. The issues we experienced were validated by several staff members saying this happens all the time….which is a total disappointment knowing we are not the only ones and nothing is being done. Issues: No running water - am/pm. Several times during the day there wasn’t any water and we were not even able to flush toilets. Broken chairs on beach - Everywhere. Guests trying to repair them to at least hair a place to sit. Italian restaurant - No pizza for dinner Buffet - Dinner 7pm - ran out of several food options and were not replaced. Ordered room Service - 4 plates jerk chicken. Received a plate of bones, including the spine of the chicken. Some bones not even meat on them. Ran out of beer, Pina colada mix, lots of different alcohol no name brand (no idea where from). After staying at the resort for two nights and experiencing these issues plus stomach aches, diarrhea for my entire family and a severe rash which doctors in the US have no idea what it is….I decided it was time to leave. Since we have vacationed in Jamaica for several years always staying at Beaches or Couples Swept Away we were able to find other accommodations at a hefty price. Which we should not have done but needed to for obvious reasons. The ONLY nice thing I can say about this resort is the staff….They were amazing trying to help. I feel bad they are stuck listening to everyone’s complaints. I have emailed customer service over again for the last 2 weeks and NO ONE has contacted me back. I contacted the resort over and over again and was told I need to email customer service. Nothing….. Save your hard earned money…DO NOT stay here. You are worth more….

A wonderful getaway to the sea and sand

Sarah P (Edina, Minnesota) on Apr 08, 2024

We had a wonderful time. The staff was terrific, very personable, and checked in often to see how things were going for us. There was a shortage of beach towels and chairs, and we had a little trouble getting into the ala cart restaurants, but the staff worked hard to rectify any shortcomings, and hey! we were in Jamaica, and it was gorgeous, so we just rolled with it. A big thanks to Maldeana and Cheryl for the couples' massages at the spa. We enjoyed it so much the first time that we went back for another!
