Average resort hotel. Dated.

Came here as part of a large work conference. It fair to say this would not be my choice of hotel at all. I'd far rather be in Downtown, but when your conference is for 2000 people thats not really an option. Im sure it would be great if you had kids, but aside from that its rather dated, and like a rather rubbish Vegas or Florida resort hotel without the gambling! The most dissapointing thing was the under-staffed bars, which despite repeatedly mentioning to management never had enough staff on, and hundreds of peole were left waiting to be served for long periods of time. Some of the bar staff (notably in the falls bar) were surley and rude; but still want a large tip despite you walking up to the bar and being left to stand there for 15 minutes waiting to be served. It is a good 30 minute / $40+ cab into town.
Overwhelmingly huge

This is my second stay at the Gaylord Opryland. It is a beautiful resort with numerous atriums. Truly amazing, but huge and when fully booked, it can be overwhelming. It felt like we were at Disney. That being said, at night and early morning, it is beautiful and peaceful. They have a lot of dinning options, with fast food type of restaurants with combos starting at $15 to fine dining. My favorite hanging spot is the Jack Daniel’s restaurant when they have live bands. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. My biggest issue is the customer service. Not much of a welcome at check in or information other than a map directing you to your room. To be fair, the resort was at capacity during my last visit, so I am sure we’re overloaded. I believe it was a lot more welcoming during my first stay here when it was off season. But at their rates, I feel customer service should be top notch at all times. Overall, it is a great place to walk around, and enjoy the scenery. Will try again next time I come to Nashville
