Just a block behind Penn station entrance, convenient to subway. Morning breakfast was adequate. Lots of local places to eat and get supplies if you leave stuff at home. Rooms are large enough for NYC. Staff was helpful.

We booked this hotel due to its location near Penn Station. Easy walk for less than a block. Hotel is very clean and the lobby is appealing. We were very happy with our room which was clean and well appointed. In our past stays in other hotels in the area we could hear sirens all night long. At this hotel we had a peaceful nights sleep. We will stay at this hotel again when we travel to NYC.

Reception staff generally helpful but not necessarily always so. In contrast concierge guys were excellent. Breakfast team ok but sometimes slow to realise that items needed replenishing, eg milk, coffee. Rooms comfortable but dated, good beds & large showers. Well equipped gym and laundry room which was handy. Breakfast food was mediocre. The hot produce, aside from the scrambled eggs was pretty nasty; very cheap quality and greasy. Plus, everything was served on paper plates and plastic cutlery which I’ve never experienced in any hotel anywhere else. For the prices they charge I expect better. The hotel is in a good central location to see the sites but as it’s near Penn Stn the area, like all those adjacent to a major train hub, does suffer from a range of undesirables wandering around. The construction across the street looks likely to continue for a good while yet too. We had requested rooms to be near each other as this was a special family occasion. Evidently this was ignored & I was told that rooms are simply allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. So, some positives but a few negatives too. Given that we paid a lot of money for two rooms I’d have to say that the negatives outweighed the plus points and I wouldn’t return. Photo is view from roof top bar.

Stayed at the Fairfield while visiting family. The hotel is a block from Penn Station so it's an easy walk after getting off the train. Amenities are nice- breakfast, in lobby store for sundries, and in room coffee. Hotel has a nice rooftop bar with great views of the Freedom Tower. Decor is a bit dated and bathroom could be a bit better with illumination, but all in all, a convenient, good place to stay in NYC.

My husband, daughter and I visited NYC for the first time in August and are so glad that we chose to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Midtown. The location is excellent and so easy to reach from both JFK and Newark airport and so easy to walk to Times Square etc. Our room was clean and spacious and we really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, especially the fresh waffles! Staff were very friendly and welcoming and there are hot drinks available in reception 24/7. The rooftop bar had great views and we enjoyed the cocktails there. We loved our stay so much that we have just booked (which was a surprise for our daughters 16th birthday), to stay there again on New Years Day and we can’t wait!
