Massive compound with an old school Spanish vibe

The resort itself is massive and set against a beautiful mountain backdrop. Landscaping is wonderful, and the 41 pools give you something new to explore all the time. Some of the older Casitas seem not to have been updated in a while so I’d suggest going for one of the poolside ones. Resort really has everything—so much golf and tennis, nice fitness center, bikes, hikes, spa, good food. The staff is super friendly and helpful too, but they’d seem to be a little short staffed right now due to the pandemic (some areas left messy, like the main pool). And it does feel like they nickel and dime you a bit, which is why I’m only giving 4 stars. $30 to use a tennis court for an hour even when nobody else is there and $24 for an average omelette at breakfast are just not reasonable and the costs add up, especially if you also want to treat yourself to something nice like a massage ($170 for 50 minutes even though the jacuzzi is closed for Covid) or a round of golf ($225 for a morning tee time with club rental). I’d happily stay here again, but next time I’ll be mentally prepared for the actual cost.

Question Waldorf Astoria as a heightened hotelier experience.

Question why it’s labelled as a Waldorf Astoria property when it’s managed as a Hilton on 8th Avenue in NYC. There were exceptions as many aspects are perfect but service and accommodation as an experience upon arrival ... not one.

We have made numerous trips to La Quinta and have always loved our experience. The property is unique with its individual casitas and pools. The tennis facilities are first rate and the Mountain Gold Course is worth playing. We can't wait for our next visit.

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time here. We have stayed at a Waldorf property before and this one definitely met expectations! The customer service was excellent! Especially the bell staff. You call, they arrive to drive you where you needed to go anywhere around the property within minutes. We loved the Plunge pool and bar service as well as the in room dining. We ate at Twenty 6 which was really good. The only thing was maid service was not provided due to dumb COVID but nonetheless they were prompt when we set out towels, garbage, etc. Can't say enough good things, we have already decided we're going back next year!

This resort has gone down hill

First and foremost I am a HUGE fan of this resort. We have stayed here many times over the last 30 years. It's our "Go to" when staying in the desert. However, some of my complaints could be due to COVID times with a smaller staff BUT the rooms have gone down hill with outdated and dirty carpets, the pool where we were staying (room 649) was dirty. The walls of the pool need to be cleaned, the water was cloudy, the towels were never picked up until well past 10:30pm (we came back to our room after dinner) There was trash left all over the common grounds near the pool. We were there for 4 days and we walked by the same two masks on the ground. Room service basically doesn't exist. We called for extra waters and pillows and waited 8 hours. We then asked the next day for extra coffee and waters and waited 12+ hours. The front desk person upgraded us to room 649. It was right next to a gate that everyone enters/exits to get to the common area and to their rooms. Well this gate needs to be padded as it bounces a bit before it shuts. Loud at 6am and 11pm. The food is still amazing at the Adobe and Twenty6 restaurants. There is a very nice guy driving around selling drinks and snacks poolside. Just a heads up, buy two drinks at once as he doesn't come back for awhile. It's a huge property, they need more drink carts.
