    Beautiful resort but inconsistent service

    The resort is beautiful - the pools and beach are spectacular and the amenities are very good, but, the service is very mixed. I almost rated the resort lower because of this, but the pool and beach really are wonderful and when service is good, it is great. The main problem area was the front desk - check-in and check-out were shockingly poor (it took over 45 minutes to check in for no reason - staff kept appearing and disappearing). The rooms were very clean, but re-stocking was poor (they often forgot water or coffee. It almost became a game my husband and I played - what did they not bring today? It was different each time). But the White Party on the beach was fantastic and the service in the bars (like Hemingways) and the a la carte restaurants (especially Portofino) were excellent. The sales people and hawkers were a little aggressive - be prepared to be approached ten times a day by people selling trips or goods - both on the resort and on the beach, but they were generally respectful when you said no, but you do have to say no a lot...

    It was a great vacation. The rooms are very clean and have enough space. The biggest plus is the entertainment team. They play every day some games with prices or just for fun. Also the entertainment in the evening is okay. You can watch some shows in the theater. Constantine, Carlos, Nelson and Deivid The buffet and the food is also great and there is for everybody something to eat. The WiFi could be better and the cocktails are not so great but okay. The biggest negative thing are the salesman on the beach. Every 10 minutes some guy is asking you for trips to other destinations.

    Couldn’t believe how lovely and friendly all the staff were in the hotel - no bad customer service the whole two weeks we were there. I traveled with my partner and 4 of our friends and we absolutely loved the hotel from the way we were treated to the food (and the choice of restaurants). Almost all the staff speak amazing English 2nd appreciated our attempt at Spanish. I can highly recommend La Paisana - the Argentinian restaurant - they do the best steak I gave ever had, it was called Skirt Steak, you must try it if you go! People at the pool come round and take your drinks order so you don’t even need to leave your sunbed. The only negatives would be the size of the beach - it is a little small, but if you walk along a little bit to the Bavaro Suites (part of the hotel that you are allowed to use) the beach is a little bigger. Also the hotel was huge - it was 4 hotels in one, which was great for restaurant, bar & pool choice but sometimes you need to take a golf cart to get there and is much bigger than we are used to. Amazing holiday - we have been to 3 hotels in Punta Cana and this one definately had the best level of customer service and friendly staff, highly recommend a stay here!

    Disappointed with the condition of the rooms considering we apparently got an upgrade. Very poorly built, shower leaked everywhere, loose toilet flush. Cot for the baby was awful with broken wood on it, baby slept in our bed as we weren't putting him in that. Numerous times our bedding didn't get changed after requesting for it doing.

    Choose something else, there are plenty of better hotels in Punta Cana

    We stayed 2 weeks here. Stuff (mostly waiters) are SUPER inefficient. You get into a restaurant, you HAVE to ask for water and wait 20 minutes to get it (if you are lucky). Sometimes, I actually went to get it myself. Same for tea and beer. They just give you the annoying look. For breakfast, prepare to wait 20-30 minutes to get into the restaurant, because for some reason you have to wait to be seated (and most of the time, half the restaurant tables are empty). They run out of plates at the restaurant repeatedly. Towel service runs out of towels around 2pm, so if you didn't take/exchange your towel before that, good luck next day. The hotel has nice decorations and gardeners do a great job of maintaining the grass/bushes/trees, but the waiters are the restaurants (buffets) really give a bad impression overall. Live music in the evening is very nice and each lobby had their own singer. Overall, go to another hotel. You'll get the same sun, sand and weather, but the service will be better. This is a "5 star hotel", but in our book, it's a "barely-4-star" from "service perspective".
