Catalonia Royal Tulum Beach & Spa

This is our sixth time to Catalonia Royal Tulum and it’s definitely our home away from home. The staff is incredible and many that have been there on our previous trips...and even remembered us by name. The beach is the best you’ll find in Mexico!

From top to bottom this resort staff is best in the business. At the front desk, Carlos took care of us right off the bat and even got my girlfriend medication from the pharmacy so we wouldn’t have to leave the resort. Manny, their excursion coordinator hooked us up with an excursion that checked all the boxes for us and and took all the stress out of visiting the ruins, cenotes, etc. Adolfo, was the best waiter I could have asked for. He has a phenomenal attitude and makes sure you never see the bottom of your glass. Quetzabel, who runs the breakfast and lunch area was the perfect person to see every morning, her energy is infectious so you always start off by celebrating the day.

Excellent resort with all the needs. Great service, very nice and usable beach, awesome food, and great beverages. We went as a group of 8 and we all agreed. Resort not as full as it maybe would have been due to covid rules, but this may have improved our experience. Never had trouble getting into restaurants, drinks made quickly, and always had a spot at the beach or pool. Hoping to go back soon!

I have been to many countries and many hotels in my life, and Catalonia Royal Tulum has been the best exérience by far. Arturo at the front desk was extremely kind and helpful, he also speaks fluent French which was great for my wife. Every corner of every place was so clean it was unreal, we also appreciated how careful they were with the COVID measures, all the employees wearing masks and cleaning all the time. The entertainment team was really funny and vivid, Ana, Rosa, and Lily thank you for your energy and kindness. You have to try the steak restaurant, go there and try their Arrachera steak, it's delicious. Also the buffet La Palapa is great and full of tasteful choices, I hope you will be served by Quetzabel because she makes you feel special, like Rosario, Carlos, and Osiel, the servers. They also keep the beach clean of sargasso and the beach is beautiful. If you go to the Spa, ask for Nubia, the best massagist ever based on my wife (whose mother is a massotherapist). Hi there! We are just wrapping up our stay at CRT so I wanted to write something up in hopes it will help someone in the future. It’s going to be long but we’ve been here for 11 days so I’ve got a lot to say! Lol. We arrived on 8/21 and we stayed until 8/31. As I posted before, we got married here on the resort 8/26. We have been here multiple times before but this time I was extremely impressed. I tried to keep a few mental notes of things that stood out. Every single staff member knew about our wedding and about our group of 20 that was coming and made sure they took amazing care of us. Everywhere we went, someone was congratulating us and asking about the big day. First of all, I have to give a shoutout to the photographer Luis. Two of our friends got engaged while down here and he took some amazing engagement photos as well as pictures of the actual proposal. I would recommend having him do pics for you, even if you don’t need them. He said he is here through the rest of 2020. Second, Mayra... the wedding planner. Not sure where to even start. I’m a control freak so planning our wedding via email was a huge stress for me. She made it an absolute breeze. She made sure our day was completely stress free and beautiful. We paid for the biggest wedding package because we had quite a few guests. To surprise us, she added extra cake decorations as well as added extra flowers to the huppa that we got married under at no additional cost. She checked on me not only throughout the wedding day, but throughout our entire trip. I am so grateful for her. Perla was the woman who did my hair and makeup. I am very very picky about my hair so this was a stress for me also. She was SO incredibly talented. I will post pictures below. I wish she could style my hair every single day! I wish I knew the name of the woman who did my bouquet. It was BEAUTIFUL. She even came to my room to personally drop them off. Another shoutout that I feel is necessary is the server, Gabriel. We have a few pictures of us with him from previous trips that I’ll add but he always calls us by name and instantly remembers us. After all the guests he sees, this makes us feel so good! Same with the server Sandy. He is so great. He would always make it a point to come over to our table and talk to us. He has been here for 6 years and is always so happy to talk to the guests. Last but not least Quetzabel (not sure on spelling?) but she is a hostess during breakfast/lunch. She ALWAYS greeted us with a smile and seemed so happy to be at work. Her energy was contagious and she was such a good start to our day. We didn’t see one staff member who was rude or unhappy. We wouldn’t come back time after time if it weren’t for the people and this time they went completely above and beyond. We are leaving today and it very much feels like we’re leaving our friends/family behind. The beach at CRT is absolutely perfect. You won’t find a better beach anywhere in Mexico. A few things I’d recommend: 1. Try the Superman shot! Someone we met on the resort recommended it and it’s soooo good. 2. Bring extra tip money. They are working for less pay than what they normally make right now and probably working twice as hard. They are very appreciative. 3. Like I said, we had a large group. Here are the favorites from dinners. Italian: lasagna. Steakhouse: beef tenderloin. (The most tender steak I’ve ever had in Mexico). Mexican: can’t remember the name but it was a steak wrap and everyone loved it. I’ll wrap it up by saying how SAFE I felt. I felt safer here than I have in the states by far. Someone walked around sanitizing chairs every morning and night, restrooms were cleaned after each use, social distancing was practiced at all times. If you are someone who has never been here, or is considering getting married here... PLEASE DO. You will not regret it. I can’t wait for our next trip back.
