Palms a Plenty

We stayed at the El Dorado Royale in April. Our room was on the second floor with glimpses of the ocean through the many palm trees. The grounds of this resort are lush and immaculately groomed. All of the staff were genuine and super friendly. We enjoyed strolling between the three properties but also appreciated the golf cart shuttle rides. Prior to leaving I had read a lot of reviews so my expectations in regards to the food were met. Overall I would not say this is a Gourmet experience although some dishes were fabulous: The ceviche! short ribs at Rincon, Tacos, whole fish, sesame seared tuna, and I enjoyed all Mexican breakfast options. Plus the entire spread at the Tuesday Mexican fiesta night was superb. There is a show on stage with mariachi band dancers and singers. We opted to not pay an up charge for a table including your own bottle of tequila. We did not make a reservation and actually enjoyed our table off to the side of all the action. The drinks are just OK, they use a lot of mixers. I would’ve liked to have seen more fresh fruit in the blender drinks. They have a pretty good selection of booze. We were pleased to order a Negroni each night. We visited during Covid and felt very safe. I imagine the hotel was operating at half capacity so there was plenty of personal space, easy to get lounge chairs or a Bali bed every day. There is the main pool area with all the action like: water aerobics, pool volleyball, water polo and constant party music. But if you’re looking for more of a serene scene you can escape to the loungers along the beach in front of Kicks Bar or the large Fuentes pool complete with fountains and swim up bar. Mexico is very strict during these Covid times so we were disappointed to find that we were not allowed to check out the bicycles, snorkel equipment, archery, tennis etc... such a bummer. I understand the sandbags and cement barriers are to prevent erosion and will sink below the waterline in time. I like to body surf and play in the waves but was unable to do that for fear of being raked along the rocky bottom. When we booked this vacation it included a $600 resort credit to use on amenities. This was a scam as it was simply a series of discounts offered on full resort priced services.
Love this resort and the friendly staff!

Jossie and Majo are a blast! They were so fun, genuine, and made our beach volleyball experience simple and memorable! We had a great time playing together when we were short a couple players. El Dorado Royale is my favorite resort I’ve been to of four in Mexico. Come visit here and play water sports or beach volleyball with Jossie and Majo!
Beautiful resort

Went for one week with two of my sisters. The resort is beautiful but very big. A lot of walking or use the shuttle carts which come by in a semi timely fashion. Had a swim up standard room in building 2 across from our concierge building. Our concierge, Reina Quintanilla Hernandez was so nice and efficient. Service overall was top notch. Food was very good. Only complaint was the beach was super rocky and few places to step into the sea. We are members at a different all-inclusive hotel chain but we will definitely return to this resort in the future.
Our recent visit

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon from El Dorado Royale last week. The resort was beautiful, clean, and the staff was very friendly. Perfecto did an amazing job! He was definitely a highlight to our trip. He went way above and beyond to make our time there enjoyable, fun, and memorable. Thank you so much, Perfecto! Although it was beautiful, and clean, I would rate this resort a 3.5. Why? ( these are buggies for us) Food: The food was sub-par. We are at all of the restaurants - the only one we truly enjoyed was the Italian restaurant. Room service was fast, but even multiple beers/ margs couldn’t mask the blandness of the food. Beach: The beach was VERY rocky and not the most appealing. Large sand bags line the shore, and it distorts the beautiful views that would otherwise blow you away. Also, lots of seaweed. I’ve been to this area before and seaweed (lots of it) is just the norm. It’s not seasonal. They did a good job at cleaning it up as much as possible though. Room ( Oceanview Honeymoon Suite): We spent a little more this time ( because it was our honeymoon) to pay the extra costs to get a ocean view honeymoon suite. If you do, get a 1st level suite. If not, your view will be blocked by tons of palms trees which will result in a 3 foot span of “ocean view.” The rooms were nice, clean, and kept well throughout our stay. “Time Share” Opportunities: Be prepared to be hassled when you check in with your concierge. Yikes! The three things I listed are biggies for us when we travel, so that’s why I hit on those. Covid: The staff sanitized hourly and always wore masks. For those of you who are traveling and worried about the covid testing, they made it very simple. We signed up upon arrival and they email our appointment time the day before our test. You show up, take the test, and recieve your results within 24 hours (via email or a visit to the front desk). Would I return? Probably not. Looking back though, I had a great time with my husband. We had a fun time while we were there.
The BEST

We had the best time at EDR. This was our third trip and we can’t WAIT to go back. It was beautiful and I felt completely at ease with the covid procedures ???? the resort is beautiful and the food was amazing. We aren’t members...which we were concerned that we might hv subpar service. NOPE! It was amazing. Our favorite bartender was Lazaro at the Fuentes pool! So great:) always played awesome music and the best drinks. We loved our concierge who was incredibly attentive and detail oriented. Thank you ?? We had an AMAZING dinner at Kampai from Alberto and Elezier. They made our meal perfect and were so so fun to talk to... We loved eating at the Kick Bar for lunch everyday which was made better by Celestino. But by far, Marilu at Rincon made our trip. She was the very best! Not only did we get excellent service but when I asked for coconut ice-cream (which they didn’t hv) she got it delivered in less than 10 minutes. Then she organized our last night’s dinner at kampai. Did she go above and beyond?! Absolutely! So if you get served by Marilu...consider yourself lucky. We had such a great experience with her we went back for a 2nd time just to have her as our server. ??
