Anniversary Stay

Booked room thru AMEX FHR program - received room upgrade, early check-in, breakfast credit, amenity credit. COVID protocols in place with at least 24 hour period room vacancy, plenty of sanitizer and thermal scanner at entrance. Valets had some trouble with charging my car, but management made up for it by waving the valet fee and arranging car service for dinner. On property, lounged at the adults only and main pool, had a couples massage (Spa closed but walked thru it to the outdoor walled off area), used the complimentary BMW bicycles, played tennis (make reservations!), and hiked Carmel mountain. Had fantastic dinner at Addison - even though it was outdoors, we still felt like we were indoors as the tables were on their back portico. Had breakfast 2 days at Amaya and one day in room. Room was well appointed with luxe robes and slippers, coffee maker (thanks for all those water bottles), fridge, charging stations.
Golf With A View

Always a good time at this stunning golf course in the San Diego area where attention to detail is everywhere - from the Pro Shop and restaurant to the well-appointed golf carts and attentive employees.
Fell in love with their immaculate property, but spa was under par

Came here for wedding anniversary, and loved the property! The grounds were very well kept, the golf course is beautiful, the trails were nice (not strenuous even though the signs say so), very pet friendly, the pools were warm and still open during covid-19 (Canon and Alex were extremely helpful), the service in general was perfect. Addison was the highlight of our stay, the meal was beautiful and delicious and happy they offered a white truffle dish. One disappointing part of our trip however was the Spa. I booked 2 massages for myself and my husband, and his was decent whereas mine was very much underwhelming to the point that I wondered if my masseuse was even licensed. I told her that my pain points were my neck and shoulders and if she could focus on that area more, and she didn't. She used no pressure and oddly focused more on my arms and feet, using just stoking strides which was weird. She also didn't tell me about the mask option because I couldn't breath with my mask on and she gave no direction with that - i ended up loosening it up a bit on my own so that I could breath. My husband later told me that his masseuse gave him direction and told him that if it was harder to breath, he can remove his mask because there was some sort of cup thing under the headrest which was fine. The massage rooms were outdoor cabanas due to covid-19 which initially sounded romantic, but in reality it was not relaxing due to a dog that was chewing on a squeaky toy half the time in a nearby hotel room (not the hotel's fault though and we love dogs, but just not ideal during a massage) and people talking loudly nearby. Since my husband got a decent massage, I chalk it up to just getting someone that wasn't good and/or didn't care to provide a good experience. Overall, it was a nice experience even during the covid-19 times. Everything was clean, sanitizer around every corner and I felt pretty safe on the property. We would definitely come back again! I would just be weary of the spa and ask for someone with more experience. They also just started putting up the Christmas decorations, and the place looks even more magical for the holidays!
COVID staycation

Took the family on a COVID staycation. Got the Palazzo suite and the pictures don’t do it justice, it is HUGE! The bedroom is a generous size and feels very separate from the parlor area which has a separate kitchenette area (about the size of an apartment) and dining table. The patio isn’t enclosed but still felt private. Everything has this older elegance theme - from the books on the bookshelf, the ornate grates covering the vents, the fixtures and the decor. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous! Multiple pools and areas to explore. The outdoor gym overlooks the tennis courts. There are three walking trails. We did the 3 mile hike (about 1.5 ending near Carmel Mountain Road and back) which was mostly shaded, and had a trail for resort guests only. It was labeled as “strenuous” but there are only a few steep inclines and was very doable. A shuttle promptly picked us up for dinner at the Addison which all i’ll say is having had other tasting menus and Michelin starred meals - they definitely deserved 2 if not 3 stars. The servers made us feel comfortable and we had a fun time in addition to having an amazing meal!!! everyone is great and friendly and we had amazing stay except... We found a bloodstain on our sheets which just was unexpected for a room 1500+ per night. Didn’t want to make a huge fuss... but when I asked for a new set of sheets, I only got 2 flat sheets. It was already so late and given the overall apathetic response I received... we just toughed out the night. I know in general it’s not the worst thing in the world... but it left us disappointed.
