Our family recently stayed for the weekend at The Lodge and we found the service, food & staff to be excellent. The Lodge is a serene location that matches the Craftsman style of the architecture and decorations. They are going out of their way to keep their level of service up despite the pandemic. I want to give a shout-out to Joe who took us each morning on a nature walk at the local nature reserve. He is quite knowledgeable as a retired park ranger & really a pleasant, wonderful representative of the Property. Great job.

My husband is an avid golfer so I booked us a surprise stay here for our anniversary. With a view of the course, he could play golf until his heart was content and I could sit by the beach with a book. Bliss.

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. It was magical. The entire experience from the valet and check-in, to every employee making sure you feel comfortable and welcomed. The room was perfection- classic, comfortable and beautiful. We had coffee service brought to the room each morning so we could sit on the balcony, take in the view and watch the golfers. We received a personal note delivered by the hotel manager (Bill Gross), along with champagne, fruit and chocolate- wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Cannot say enough about The Lodge, we'll definitely be back (hopefully soon!!). ~Dani A.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines clicks so many "perfect" boxes, it's hard to know where to begin. Our family of three stayed for two nights over a weekend in October. We had two rooms - one for my wife and me and one for our son. We had room 517 - a "Palisades Room" that overlooked the golf course and ocean beyond. the 5th floor is the top floor, which afforded a gorgeous view . While I'm sure every room facing this direction is great, 517 felt really special because the verandah was right under a peaked Craftsman roof-line, and far enough from the pool so as not to hear too much noise. The room was beautifully appointed with Stickley (or Stickley type) furniture, a fireplace that we never used, and a large bathroom with tub and separate shower with great water pressure! I spent a lot of time on the verandah, overlooking golfers passing through the 18th hole of the gold course. Despite Covid, it was a busy weekend and the hotel apparently was almost at capacity. Being on the gold course side of the hotel with the view, certainly there was quite a bit of ambient noise. If you leave the verandah door open, the loudspeaker from the golf pavilion would start at about 7:30AM calling for the next group of golfers, and one can hear the screams of (happy) young children from the pool area. But with the door closed, almost all sound is cut out so sound insulation in the room is quite good. Palisades Rooms face west, so the sunsets are spectacular. Our son was in a standard king room across the hall, and he also had a large verandah facing the inside courtyard. This room was also very nicely appointed, and the inside courtyard was very tranquil. So if you are sound-sensitive, I would recommend considering an inside courtyard-facing room. We ate at both The Grill and AR Valentein. The Grill has a basic selection of offerings, but are very well cooked and presented. Our son claimed his burger was the best he had ever had which is quite a statement coming from him! Every meal required a reservation due to limited capacity because of Covid, but we never had a problem getting a table, even at Sunday brunch by simply phoning a couple of hours ahead. AR Valentein was outstanding. We had a table on the patio and watched the sunset while making our way through their menu with wine pairings, ending with a delicious cheese board and creatively designed desserts for our son's birthday and our anniversary. The menus were even printed especially for us, saying happy birthday and happy anniversary at the top! The service at the restaurant, like everywhere else on the property, was exceptional. Really, the best thing about the Lodge at Torrey Pines was the Lodge itself. My wife and I were just blown away by the attention to detail in every aspect of architecture and furnishing. It is a real gem to add to your Southern California Bucket List.
