I really don't even know where to begin describing how wonderful this resort was for our 10 day honeymoon! Serenity was exactly what we were looking for. The resort matched the pictures....No unwanted surprises. Our room was just perfect. Rosey and Marcia did a wonderful job throughout our stay keeping our room clean and stocked with fresh towels. Our butlers were Alden, Angus, Greg. They were all awesome! While at Serenity celebrating our honeymoon we also celebrated by husbands 40th birthday. I explained this to Alden, and he prepared the most wonderful and romantic setting by the pool for a birthday dinner celebration. We also returned to our room several times throughout the trip to find a surprise bottle of chilled champagne or a cheese/fruit plate. You will not be disappointed if they end up being your butlers. We spent alot of time at the pool and Ray took great care of us everytime. We ate dinner every night at the Great House. Linus (as well as many others) took great care of us. The only complaint I really have is the menu at the Great House. It is the same everynight. They did offer one different special everynight which my husband usually ordered but I am a very picky eater so my choices were very limited. I mentioned this to one of our butlers and he spoke with Ray, the chef, who was more than happy to make me my very own special dish one night. Before dinner or after we alway stopped by the pool bar for a drink with Lee. If you choose to stay at this resort you have to meet him. He always has a smile on his face. A couple others I have to mention... Danny Boy with Nerv, he was one of our tour guides and he is the absolute best. If you do the tour you have to request him. He makes a wonderful photographer. Jonathan the coconut man-he will make sure you get a fresh coconut during your stay.

This was our second visit to Serenity ar Coconut Bay. The property is even more beautiful this year with the foliage around the laneways now fully matured. We were impressed that our courtyard suite still appeared like new. Serenity is a unique experience. With so few suites on the property, peace and quiet reign supreme. The manager, Michael Smith is a real guiding force and seems always available. The staff is outstanding in every area. The suites with their private compounds are beyond compare. The environment is amazing, quiet and discreet. We have already booked to return.

What can I say - our second time was just as good and even better than the first time!! As you may already know, the airport transfers included. We were given a glass of champagne and a cool towel. We get there and the world's greatest, Yannic greets us. Its like seeing family!! We were so psyched to see all of our favorite people - Dez, Yannick and Ashan assigned to our room. Ashan (the new addition was top notch and he definitely helped to take care of us while we were there). Greg, who was not assigned to us this time was still there and he was so kind to help us out on a few occasions as well as great conversation with a smile. Room - Absolutely beautiful with a deck, minibar and fridge (with the drinks you request ahead of time), private plunge pool, and hammock. It also has an outbox - where your food or anything else you need can be delivered and left for you. Meaning you don't even have to leave the room . The room itself - soak in bathtub, king size bed, his and her closets, shower and double vanity. Spacious and beautiful! Dez, Yannick, Ashan and Gregg - you guys are the best!! They came through on every request we asked for and they went above and beyond . They always had a smile and were so sweet. We had a great time with all of them. They as well as the entire staff, Housekeeping, all the staff at the Greathouse - they are what makes Serenity truly special. Food and Drink - top shelf drinks and top shelf food. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. A few nights of the week, there was entertainment. We also went to Coconut Bay to Calabash and Silk were also excellent. This time we decided to try La Luna - AVOID IT. It was just as horrible as Seaside (where we went the first time). Pool and Beach - Both the room pool and guest pool were awesome. The beach was as well. Water was clear and warm and just beautiful!! Spa - Really good. We booked a scrub, exfoliation, massage. We did have a 50 min couples massage in our room as part of our package and that was amazing!! Only problem was that it went so fast. Access to Coconut Bay - it was great to have the option to have access to that facility as well. We went to the exercise classes - love Vernon (always whips our butts but he is so worth it). Also access to the restaurants - as I mentioned above Silk and Calabash definitely worth it. Entertainment - they also had some entertainment on certain nights of the week during dinner. On Fridays, there is a great singer. Suggestions (pretty much the same as last time): First, the light at the front door. It is so bright that even when the shades are down, I still saw some brightness. I love total darkness when I sleep. Perhaps dim the light after 10 pm until sunrise? Second, the room needed more trash bins and the ones in the room are small in size so perhaps add a few more (e.g, an extra one in the main bedroom and an extra one in the vanity area). Third, Serenity may want to add a light in the shower. Even though the vanity light is on, there is still not enough light when taking a shower in the nighttime. I will say that we absolutely loved this place. We already are booked to come back in August 2019. We are definitely looking forward to being there and seeing everyone again.

Blow the wind southerly easterly westerly?

Unlike most of the hotels on the island which require a one to two hour journey after a long haul flight the hotel blessedly is located within a few minutes drive of the airport.Serenity provides a complimentary limousine transfer. Because there are only a few flights a day aircraft noise is not a problem. The hotel is not beachfront and access to the one nearby is by hotel buggy. However since it is on the south east coast it suffers, at least in December, from very strong winds. (it is no coincidence that the kite surfing school is located there) After half an hour of having sand blown in our face while sunbathing we gave up and left and not just because the sun beds were somewhat basic and uncomfortable. The sea, though far from calm was swimmable and the seaweed problem not much in evidence during our visit because of the effort made to remove any washed ashore. There are loos on the beach and a beach bar. The hotel itself is situated in lush well maintained tropical gardens. There is a very attractive and decent sized pool with large jacuzzi surrounded by sun loungers and cabanas. The former were not the most comfortable and would be better with proper mattresses. The cabanas had large beds and (not wholly effective) ceiling fans. (If using a cabana in the morning those on the same side as reception are in the shade but in the afternoon become uncomfortably hot whereas those on the other side are not exposed so much to the afternoon sun. Be aware that biting beasties lurk in all) Good sized bar beside the pool serving international as well as local brands with multi screen tvs showing sports programmes.Very extensive cocktail list and the bar staff do not stint on the alcohol. One can have lunch at the pool from the special menu but they will also serve anything from the restaurant menu. In the evening there was live musical entertainment. We were on an all inclusive package which was good value. The restaurant which faces the pool has seating both inside and out. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. The pork sausages in particular were superb and the scrambled eggs cooked in a style mid way between how they are prepared in the UK and the USA. The lunch and dinner menus had dishes with interesting ingredients and combinations of flavours and (apart from the vegetables) were well prepared. For some bizarre reason the vegetables were never cooked properly and were often raw despite several complaints. Another problem awaits those who stay, as we did, for more than a week because the menu never changes so that one is faced with the same choices and thus become a little repetitive. To mitigate this one can eat freely in the various restaurants at the sister hotel across the road. (We ate once in the Asian restaurant there and the food was quite decent but the "sister" hotel was more of an ageing aunt and a depressing place to be in as other reviewers have observed.) Our room had a large tester bed but its height off the floor made getting into it somewhat difficult for those small of limb;good mattress and a decent selection of pillows. Curiously there was only one armchair for the two of us in a room which could easily have accommodated a sofa. Adequate wardrobe space with high clothes rails. The drawer units for an hotel of this class were made oddly, of cheap material and badly painted. Separate bath tub and excellent rain shower. Good quality towels and smellies.Lavatory paper was micron thin Lighting in the room was poor. Air conditioning was efficient and there was also a ceiling fan. We had a large private outside space with a table and chairs where one could have breakfast, hammock, wash basin and fridge (which could be stocked with whatever drinks one desired and was regularly replenished). We also had a plunge pool which was well maintained with an outdoor shower. Mosquitoes are a problem and while the turn down service will spray the room no electric mosquito mats and tablets or the like are provided so bring your own. As part of our deal we were given the romance package. We didn't use all of it such as the catamaran trip or picnic on the beach or private dinner in a cabana but the half day chauffeur driven car proved a boon and allowed a visit to the volcano and a waterfall. Despite some of the criticisms supra I would still recommend the hotel not merely for the main demographic who seemed while we were there to be 25 to 30 year olds (mostly American then Canadian then Brits) but to all ages. That is because of the first class staff who made our stay so pleasurable. Nothing was too much for the team of butlers who responded quickly to any requests made either in person or by mobile phone with which one is supplied. (I always used it when calling from our room as the number on the room phone just kept ringing out) A special mention here must go to Angus with whom we had most contact and who never failed us.. Bar and restaurant staff were attentive and always seemed to be smiling. Then there was the incomparable Nick who brought us drinks and food at the pool and whose service could not be bettered. I hope management appreciate what a quality guy he is. We had the pleasure of meeting the manager whose sense of humour was so dry it was like sipping vintage champagne. Despite being on crutches at the time nothing seemed to escape his gimlet eye which also probably explains why this is such a well run establishment The finishing touch came on the day we were leaving. Our flight did not leave until mid evening - long after check out time. Unable to let us stay in our room because of incoming guests they moved us to another (and larger!) suite and did not charge us. Furthermore they did not charge us for any of the meals or drinks we had until we were picked up by the complimentary limousine and taken back to the airport. "You are our guests" they said "and we look after our guests." Very true!!

We stayed at Serenity for a fortnight in Feb, 2019. On landing we were whisked to the resort in a private car and greeted at Serenity by our first butler who gave a great overview of Serenity’s facilities and service offering whilst showing us to our Grande Corner Suite where we were treated to a champagne-fuelled tour of our room. We liked that our room was tucked away at the end of the manicured garden paths, meaning no passing traffic. Serenity markets its rooms as “sanctuaries” – we agree. Inside, the Suite was beautifully decorated and offered many great amenities, including: lounge area, huge bath, great shower, good amount of storage and ample electrical sockets. Outside, the large terrace is very well thought through: giant plunge pool with floating mats, shaded pergola, hammock, bar with a stocked fridge, super-comfy loungers and a shaded dining area. The gardening, grounds and housekeeping staff are excellent – ensuring the room and terrace were kept spotless throughout our stay. Marcia is an absolute star, and left many kind notes after her cleans and always ensured we had more than enough towels. The Greathouse restaurant at Serenity is fantastic with a fixed menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is at least one special entrée every evening – the food is amongst some of the best we have eaten. The crab cakes, beef tenderloin, tuna specials and lamb rack stand out. What rally sets Serenity apart from other resorts we have been to is the enthusiasm, care and service offered by all its staff at every level - from the gardeners to the General Manager. Some special mentions must go to: Angus, Gregg and Alden – our butlers who failed to say “No” during the entire fortnight, arranged various complimentary extras (in-room massages, island tours and a sunset cruise) and even prepared a really nice birthday surprise Cathy and her team of servers at breakfast and lunch (Tyler, Ginel and Hannah) Alana and her team of servers at dinner (TiTi, Kevin and Chard) The Greathouse’s team of skilled Chefs Dona D. (wonderful!), Kay (great singing and dancing!) and Daisy (great cocktails!) at the bar Marcia and Rosey in housekeeping Abigail from the Spa Michael – the General Manager who went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves on many occasions Thank you to all for making sure we relaxed in calm comfort! If you're reading reviews of Serenity with a view to booking, my advice is "just book it!".
