Adventures & tours

While there is much to see and do at Coba, the Nohoch Mul pyramid is the main attraction. At 42 metres high, it is the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. Its stairs lead to two temples. Grab hold of the rope running down the centre of the staircase as people move up and down the pyramid.

It only takes about five to 10 minutes to get to the top, but a bit longer to come back down. While it is a steep climb on narrow stairs, you can do it if you are in moderate or good shape. When you get to the top, look over a canopy of trees and you can see a giant lagoon off to your right.

Get someone take your photo at the bottom of the pyramid with your arm outstretched and your palm open - it will look like you are holding the ruins in your hand.
