If you are reading this, and other reviews, you are likely trying to determine whether Nonsuch Bay is worthy of your hard earned vacation dollars. You’ve seen that it is small (62 rooms), on a beautiful but hilly location, with large well appointed rooms with wrap around verandas accessed through French Doors, but you are concerned that it is all inclusive in a remote location with one restaurant and bar. Fear not. While breakfast and lunch were buffet style there were always fresh and varied options. A la Carte dinner service was varied, creatively presented, and always pleasingly prepared and presented by the hard working, friendly staff. Wine and spirits were not “top shelf” but were just fine and I believe this is why they can offer an upscale experience at a reasonable price. We have been to other islands and resorts and for the most part enjoyed the experience. Antigua is beautiful and the airport is one of the best I have travelled to and from but it was the people at Nonsuch that made our trip in March of this year so special. Whether it was Everton mixing you the perfect drink (fresh nutmeg in the rum punch), to Ruth overseeing things at her desk in the lobby, to Natasha making it all happen, Austin getting you to where you wanted to be, and Jessie who could sell snow to a Canadian, they and all the others make your stay a pleasant experience Many thanks for a wonderful, rejuvenating holiday.

We were met at the airport by a taxi driver provided by the resort. He was a very sociable man who played cricket for the national team in his youth. He introduced us to Antiguan way of driving. Roads are narrow with little or no shoulder and the asphalt at the edges is often eroded. As a result everyone likes to occupy the middle portion as much as possible. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified at times. And they drive on the left which is disorienting in itself. However, we arrived at the resort safely and were shown to our room promptly. The resort photos of the suites on their website are are hard to believe. I was prepared for a bit of disappointment but that wasn’t the case. Our “room” was a magnificent two bedroom condo on the 3rd floor with 3 ocean facing balconies, 2 large bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, a great room with a living area containing white overstuffed sofa and chair, a full kitchen and a dining table that seats six. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. The topography in the area is almost fjord like. Mountains crowd down to the sea and form long bays that channel the prevailing wind. Nonsuch Bay is a sailing and kite surfing mecca. We do neither sport but we enjoyed the constant refreshing breeze. Snorkeling is our passion and the resort provides twice weekly boat trips to Green Island. It is an uninhabited island with picture perfect white sand beaches. In the water there are some decent coral formations and lots of fish, even the odd turtle and ray. The boat drops you and picks you up a couple of hours later. We kayaked a lot. Word of warning, the long bay to the left of the resort was very easy going in but coming out was arduous. The wind made it difficult to move forward at all! There is only one restaurant but what a restaurant! Kudos to the chefs, serving staff, bartenders and foremost the elegant, charming, gracious hostess who greeted us every night at dinner. Sadly, I waited too long to write this review and can’t remember any names. Entertainment was fantantastic. Nothing hokey. No horrible karaoke nights. There were 4 nights with very professional live musicians that filled the dance floor. It was great to see resort staff busting some impressive moves. This is an understated, wonderful resort that will not fail to delight. It is carved into the mountain side and all buildings overlook the bay. The sun sets behind the resort but you can watch it by taking a trek up to the top level of the resort. The view over mountains and valleys is stunning andat sunset well worth the effort. We rented a car and drove to Stingray City. I would take a taxi next time. Driving on the left, narrow roads and the scarcity of road signs stressed me out. We got there in time for the first tour of the day, before the cruise ship hordes arrive. I expected some kind of enclosure but was delighted that it is open water. The stingrays are attracted to the shallow, sandy bottomed area by food. There are a number of handlers that feed them bits of fish and the rays apparently recognize each one of them. You can feed them and hold them. My wife fed one but I was not that brave. However, they swim all around you and brush against your body. They are quite big, 3 fo 4 foot wingspan but so gentle and graceful. It was an amazing experience. We loved our week in Antigua at Nonsuch Bay.

I wanted to celebrate my wife’s retirement by surprising her with a week’s vacation someplace warm. After reading many reviews, I decided on the Escape at Nonsuch Bay. It was one of the best vacation decisions I’ve ever made. The Escape section of the resort is very new and private, couples only, with spectacular views of the bay. Our room was AMAZING, with an extremely comfortable king bed and a private plunge pool. The dining area and its adjacent pool was just a short walk away. The staff was amazing: warm, helpful, friendly people... Their one-on-one personal attention was truly unique - if there was something we needed for our room or that was not on the dining room menu, we only had to ask. We were pampered...: - ) Perhaps the best food we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive resort! The family part of the resort and a beautiful sandy beach was just a short shuttle drive away... I want to particularly thank staff members Vincent, Zoe, Rihanna, Charmaine, and the manager Avella. (If I’m misspelling Avella’s name, my apologies.) But more generally, the ENTIRE staff: housekeeping, drivers, kitchen, etc., were the friendliest I’ve ever experienced. We will definitely be back!

We had such a special stay at Non Such. We travelled as a mum, daughter and young grandson. My son, Sebastian, was so well looked after - Ruth, Natasha, Jesse, Christopher, all the ladies in the resturant were so kind, chatting and smiling with him... I've been back a two weeks now and I'm embarrassed I can't remember everyones names when they were so lovely. It made our stay that a six month old baby was made so welcome. FOOD/ DRINK The food was lovely. Lots of fresh fruit in the morning, freshly cooked eggs and a daily changing variety - get there early for the monkey bread! Breakfast and lunch was a casual buffet and dinner was delightful, a really lovely ambiance. House wine was good, no need to upgrade, I drank a pale blush rose most lunchtimes and either white or red at dinner. Cocktails in the bar are strong - mojitos and pina coladas were favourites. Only had one drink I didn't enjoy and that was a Gin and Tonic. We noticed a lot of complaints about drinking water not being supplied in the room and I contacted non such in advance - they provided a 5 litre bottle which was appreciated. I do feel that it should be included as standard but there is so much in the bars and restaurants that you don't need too much in the room. SUITES We were upgraded on arrival to a two bedroom suite which was really kind and made for a far more relaxing stay. The lady at BA had told me there would be a rollaway as an option if needed.. mum can snore so I wanted to have a backup in the living area but Non such said they weren't suitable for over 12's so they upgraded us, even though it wasn't their mistake. Rooms are so spacious, walk in closets, big bathrooms, some are a bit of a walk from the restaurant and bar but we didn't mind that.. it worked off all the food. The suites were solid, well made heavy furniture, lovely loungers and armchairs out on the balcony. Having the kitchen, the best fully equipped kitchen I've seen in a all inclusive hotel (so well stocked it was slightly bizarre) was so helpful having a baby - we really needed a fridge, kettle and having a washing machine made such a difference. LOCATION/ BEACH It is a remote property, the bay feels super private and calm. Really shallow water, I'd definitely come again once Seb is a little older so he can splash around knowing there won't be any tides or deep spots. Sun loungers need to be updated - they blue and plastic but the ones in the rooms and by the pools are solid wooden ones. Umbrellas are needed throughout the resort - I counted 7 in the total and it was a problem for a lot of people. Gardens and grounds were lush, green, beautiful bright flowers and we even saw hummingbirds around the resort - unexpected and beautiful. We loved our trips to deserted green island - so good we went twice. A lot of people we met hired cars and if we visited again we would too - taxis are expensive and Antigua is safe and easy to drive around. I am sure I am forgetting things but overall we had a very special time. I rarely book the same place twice but given how good everyone was with my son, and how calm the water is for children, it would be a solid option. Oh, the half day complimentary childcare daily was a nice touch. We used it 3 x so we could visit green island and explore the island and the ladies were lovely. Overall, huge thank you to everyone - Sebastian was not happy to be home and missed the fuss and smiles everyone at Non Such gave him!

ESCAPE NONSUCH BAY- absolutely beautiful room in a peaceful and stunning location. This is a new development in a peaceful area with car shuttles to the Main resort to use beach and water sport activities. Big thanks to Avella who has the lead for Escape was invaluable and ensured our stay was to a very high standard. She was always available and there to help us. She genuinely was interested in the people staying and could arrange anything. Other staff were amazing and extremely helpful and supportive. To name a few Charmaine, Zoe, Loretta. We were made super comfortable and felt our every need was met. Drinks were abundant, helpful information given and staff that genuinely cared about you. The chef, Mitch Husbands and pastry chef, Dione prepared the most delicious meals. There was an abundance of gourmet food served and very flexible as to your needs. All 3 were a la carte meals with Caribbean flare, demonstrating a passion for excellent food and able to meet special dietary needs. We felt looked after and well feed. Cleanliness of accommodation was brilliant and supply of drinks in our room endless. The accommodation was beautiful. Plunge pool and sunbed fantastic to chill out. Very big and comfortable bed. Easy access to main resort. Beautiful beach and snorkelling at green island. Waiting service at the beach was fantastic and appreciated. Thank you to Natasha! Overall we had an amazing and fantastic holiday. Thanks to all of you !
