Great vacation. Food was good at most of the restaurants. Facilities are well laid out. Grounds are well maintained and fantastic colors. All employees will greet you with a smile. Beach is nice and clean.

Sandals Grande Antigua was awesome! The beach had white soft sand and clear turquoise water. The food was great, the antipasto spread in Mario’s was phenomenal and we went there 3 times just for that. The bartenders made amazing drinks and there was a special drink every day. Ashmaine from the courtyard bar was hilarious, made awesome drinks, and always had a smile on his face. Joy from the courtyard bar kept serving us drinks during a show without even having to ask. Amazing service from her. The sushi bar named Soy was amazing and I don’t even eat sushi. My wife said it was some of the best sushi she ever had. Joven the cook made amazing rolls and was very personable. Timesha at Soy kept me laughing and had my drink ready for me every time we came. Every night they had entertainment planned which was fun. From a fire breathing entertainer to a band and chocolate bar. The MC Niecer was hilarious and kept the crowd going. She brought people onstage to dance and always brought high energy to all the shows. She was really fun, entertaining, and amazing. The only dislike was the vendors on the beach. I wish they didn’t try to sell us something while trying to relax, but since it is a public beach I don’t think Sandals can do much to curb the annoyance.

This was our 2nd year in a row here and we had an even better time! Love the people! Some people even remembered us from last year!! Highly recommend the excursion with Extreme Adventures through the resort! Speed boat tour around the island and a visit to Stingray City!!

We were a group of four that arrived mid April. We were not pleased with the room we had been put in. Management did not care to assist us. One girl seemed to really be enjoying the fact that she was able to change rooms for us. The hotel was at very low capacity and the staff had confirmed this for us during our stay. It was not until we reached out to upper management that proper arrangements were made for us. The girl at front desk gave us the impression that she was bitter that we ended up getting our simple request approved. This is not the type of front desk service one would expect at a high end resort that Sandals markets itself as. The staff is a hit or miss in terms of service. Perhaps allowing tips will allow for greater service. This is nowhere near the service or luxury you would receive In a Mexico 5 star resort (but it’s almost double the price). Food is a 3.5-4 star. Definitely not 5! Beach is 5 stars. Almost zero beach service and the bar is not exactly close. Once again, this is what you expect to see in Cuba not Antigua !! The vendors are not very aggressive but be prepared to deal with them. It’s quite awkward that the beach workers are allowed to hang out along the resort fence and set up their tables right next to the beach entrance and chairs. As nice as they are, you are constantly looking back at your chairs when you are in the water. I have seen some of them leaning against the beach chairs right in front of the security ! Also, we were here during low capacity so we never had issues with beach chairs. I can definitely see this being an issue if the hotel is close to full capacity. Main pool could use more music and exciting entertainment. I get people complain about the noise but there should be a compromise. For example, up the music volume between 12-3. If people want the romance vibe you can hit up the smaller pool or beach. Security: The first half of my trip I was getting very annoyed by security constantly asking me my name and room number. Especially when I was hanging out on a beach chair all morning right in front of the security guard and then at one point she had the nerve to ask me for my room number even thought I gave it to her earlier in the morning. There should be an option to put on a wrist band that allows security to do their work without constantly interrupting you. One day we all watched the beach vendors getting into a heated argument right in front of the security and beach entrance for an extended period and the security girl seemed like she couldn’t be bothered to ask them to take it elsewhere. Once again, not what you expect from a high end resort. Upper management needs to see what 5 star service looks like in other resorts. It seems that Americans get trapped into the Sandals Club membership and have no way of knowing what 5 star luxury really looks like.

Compared to our last experience in St Lucia, this facility's infrastructure seemed older and / or less maintained. I.e., shaving mirror in bathroom broken, grout in tiles falling out, had to get room keys reprogrammed twice. Beach was not as attractive. Entertainment and events were much less fun and interactive than St. Lucia. Staff seemed not as interested in involving guests in activities either in level of quality or location where events were held. Day events were held NEAR pool, not IN or directly adjacent to. Facility not as intimate. Food was better here. Overall experience was good and enjoyable. But St. Lucia set a high bar for us and we would return there first.
