    Great!! besides the beach

    We had an awesome experience overall, the only negative thing I would have to say is the beach is full of vendors. They are constantly bugging you the entire time to buy something that it’s not even relaxing to go to the beach. Once one leaves another one comes over. This is the only Sandals that is like this that I know of. We spent 0 days at the beach because of this and spent our time at the pool. We did book a private tour with “Kenny beach” and he did a fantastic job. Everything he said he would do he did. Overall had a great time!

    Upon arrival we were fumbled through several welcoming staff members. They all seemed like they weren't sure what to do or where to send us. We went to our room (in the Finguapani Building) which was not Sandals quality. The furniture/dresser was worn and damaged, the chair seat was badly stained, the bathroom was terribly small and had a long hair on the tub ledge. The carpet was still dirty, as they don't vacuum, but just sweep the rug. They brought in a vacuum cleaner and it wasn't even picking up what was on the rug, but they did try. I just don't think the Antiquans have the same standards of cleaning as the US and have not been taught correctly. Hair on the bathroom floor, in the corners, all week. I requested another room and Leslie and Selina ablidged the following day in the Med Building Thankfully!!!! . This saved our 20th Anniv thankfully. I could not have stayed in the original room for 7 days, as it should have been priced much lower. The pics on the website were very deceiving. The food was average, at best!! We are loyalty members, so hate to bash the company, but Antiqua was not Sandals quality. The worst experience was the beach vendors that constantly approach you to buy their products. I did, to help the economy after COVID, but not what I would expect at a resort. A few of the vendors were 30 yr old men, high and cursing...lets get F'd up man, F this and F that while I was trying to enjoy my quiet evening as the sun went down on the beach. These vendors were hiding in the beach buildings smoking pot. I could smell it in the afternoons. Just not what we expected at a Sandals vacation. We will not return to Antiqua. Thanks to Leslie, Selina and Marsha at the pool cabanas were our saving grace!! Our Retie the Know ceremony was excellent and made the trip worth while, thank you to Marcia in the Wedding Dept.

    Over the past 14 years, we've stayed at almost every Sandals resort for our dive vacations. Sandals Grande Antigua has the BEST team we've known. From our first greeting by Talisha and Joyann with smiles and welcomes home until our last dive, we felt safe and spoiled by the "above the top" service level. We can't say enough about how kind, helpful and strong Jamal has been, or how great the dive leaders, Ivan, Keran, Travis, Fern and Maurice are. Boat captains, Odvare and Lance kept us on course and found some dolphins on surface. First mates Lennox and Jamal did everything from double checking air, to plucking us from sometimes rough water, to serving chilled fruit and pastries after dives. And yes, the diving was amazing. We saw sharks, giant puffer fish, an octopus, a fleet of large sea turtles and others on our dive saw a humpback whale and her calf. Truly life experiences we will always cherish - thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Wonderful stay at SGA

    After making our way through the airport we were taken outside to the Sandals reception desk. A representative quickly arranged for our transfer and before we knew it we were on our way. The resort was only about a ten minute ride from the airport. Upon arrival we were greeted and taken to the reception area to complete the check in process. After check in we were greeted by our butler and were taken to our room. First of all, this resort is absolutely gorgeous! The grounds, the landscaping, and the tile work was impeccable and over the top. We have been to several Sandals resorts (this is our 6th Sandals trip)all of them are nicely landscaped, but SGA was exceptional! We met another guest that owns a landscaping company, he was blown away with the work. It was truly a work of art, and was a pleasure just to walk around the resort. It was very clean too. The room- We stayed in room 714 code HOS. This was a beach front butler suite that was on the second floor. The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. It also came with a well stocked mini bar and refrigerator. Our room had a beautiful view and was just steps away from the beach. It was also located in the center of the resort. This made getting around very easy. You didn’t have to walk to far to get to any of the restaurants. I would highly recommend this room. Our butlers- We were assigned a team of 3 butlers for the week. Wendel, Vakesha, and Venessa. They were very pleasant, helpful, and attentive. They did everything that we asked them to, and were always available. They made our stay very enjoyable! We really did appreciate having them. Thank you team! The beach- The beach at this resort was really nice and very clean. The color of the water was amazing. The only problem was the beach vendors. They were super aggressive. Therefore, we didn’t spend as much time on the beach that we usually do. The pools- This resort had more pools than any of the other Sandals resorts that we stayed at. The main pool was the pool that we were at the most. This pool was absolutely beautiful and was very clean and a lot of fun. The food- The food was really good at most of the restaurants. We ate at just about all of them. Our favorite for dinner was Mario’s. The food and service at dinner was excellent. Crystal was our server, she took great care of us. The chicken parm was out of this world! The food at the others was good too. Our second favorite was the Baysider. I also must add that the desserts at all of the restaurants were excellent! Some of the other Sandals resorts really didn’t have great desserts. If you like desserts, you will love the ones served here. The service-Overall the service at the bars and restaurants were good. However, it could be hit or miss depending on where you went and the time of day. The staff- Most of the staff that we interacted with were pleasant and helpful. The Entertainment- The entertainment was pretty good. Unfortunately, the piano bar just wasn’t happening because of the COVID. The bar was open but no player. Probably because it was inside. The only thing I wish that Sandals would do is post the entertainment schedule for the week at the beginning of the week. We never knew what was going until the day before when you got the daily planner. A few times we missed the shows that we wanted to see because it conflicted with our dinner reservations. It would be nice to plan out the week. The diving- The diving wasn’t what I was looking for. Most of the sites involved a long boat ride (45 minutes)in extreme rough water. The visibility wasn’t very good either due to the cloudy water. Most of the site didn’t seem to be worth the effort. Although one site (Billy’s Grotto) seemed pretty good. I can only imagine how it would look on a clear day. The dive shop and staff was safe and professional.

    Joy from the pool bar was awesome and very hospitable. Room service was good although it took awhile before you got your food. Soy had excellent sushi. We ordered cabana service which was not what we expected- the service could’ve been better considering you can rent it out for $150.
